Also, there's plenty of places in town to have lunch before or dinner after. We thought it was well worth the price.

Lifeguards every few feet from you - and I actually love that those teenagers bark at other teens, some as old as them, when they're not following rules, ie encroaching on someone else's safety. High and low dive and a pontoon teens can swim 50 yards over 15' to 18' deep water to hang out with friends and no parents ( the pontoon reminds me of penguins or seals on one their annual remotely and isolated beaches - I'm confident similar biological urges are play for them as well ). There's a rigorous swim test for younger youth, which is perfect bc I'd only feel comfortable with smaller sized kids 50 yards out on the pontoon with twelve to fifteen 16 yo boys and four to five teen females. Every part of the beach area, water and the common ground where hundreds of families chill all day on Sat and Sun. Love it.

We had an extremely disappointing experience before we even made it inside!…read more Before leaving, we checked the Centennial Beach website for information about cooler policies and other guest regulations, and everything made it seem like the beach was open as usual. When we arrived, we noticed a large crowd gathered outside. We walked up to the admissions area, where an employee informed us that the facility had reached capacity due to a major swim event. Because of this, they were only allowing season pass holders to enter and were not selling day passes. We completely understand that facilities have occupancy limits and appreciate the staff for enforcing them. Our frustration is with the lack of communication beforehand. A major event with limited public access should have been clearly posted on the website well in advance so families wouldn't make the trip unnecessarily. To make matters more confusing, the hours listed on Apple Maps and Google Maps were inaccurate, and the website was difficult to navigate. The notice about the capacity restrictions wasn't posted until about an hour before we were turned away. While we were there, we heard several other families expressing the same frustration. No hard feelings toward the employees--they were simply doing their jobs. However, the organization behind the website and event planning should do a much better job communicating closures, capacity limits, and special events to the public.

Sitting by the river and looking at the blind on the island we saw a bald eagle fly right overhead. So cool! I didn't believe my friend when he said they were here around the fox. There are 2 lots at each end of the park, the Northeastern one featuring a boat launch that is kayak & raft capable (though I'm not sure where you'd get off. Maybe Silver Springs state park? The way the high trail is set up it definitely looks like it could be a mosquito breeding ground next to it during the appropriate months. Bring DEET if you think it'll be an issue, but in early October it was mostly a non-issue. There is a tick warning as well, but we didn't find any. The only thing you need to watch out for is mountain bikers (and I guess the occasional horse / horse apple). They will be coming, and some of them can move pretty fast. Plainfield River Tubing handles every piece of the experience from start to finish with such attention to detail and care. You arrive, hop in a large van that takes you maybe 10-15 mins away to the entry point of the river, there are 50+ colorful tubes to choose from (with options for various headrests, cup holders, solid bottom, mesh bottom, open bottom). Plus you can rent a paddle ($5, I suggest 1-2 per group, totally worth it!) and you can rent a separate tube to hold your cooler, sunscreen, speaker, etc. They have really friendly staff to help you in the water, help you out at the end, they tell you what to expect and how long it will likely take given the speed of the river. You get hooked together with just your group, so even if 15 people are signed up for the same time slot, it's not like all 15 of you are lumped together the whole time. You're in a circle with just your people or you can float solo! This is a company that cares and you can tell. I've done it a few times and will absolutely return again!!

We checked in around 1145 for a 12 pm booking. They did not have a specific spot to stand to wait for shuttles. As a result, it was a free for all and people that arrived well after us got on shuttles first. My friend politely asked where to stand and staff became overwhelmed. We did not end up on a shuttle until almost 1 pm. Then during loading, the van door was broken and the group had to exit the front passenger door. Our driver was trying to direct other staff with their jobs too. It seemed that staff were unsure of their job responsibilities. I will say the tubes they provide are very high quality and you have various choices of styles. Unfortunately, due to weather, our group was told that we couldn't get into the river. (That did not lose stars from me, that's out of their control). The staff told us we would be provided refunds and a shuttle back to our cars. Since there was a lot of us waiting to get in to the river, our group had to wait for second shuttle. If they could improve their check in process, and safety of their vehicles, I would consider giving them another chance.
