As the name suggests this park is made up of an island and several bridges in the middle of the Fox River. There is a walking and running trail, fishing spots (with the appropriate permits of course), and benches and shaded places to sit and enjoy the nature. While we were visiting, the trees had turned color in the fall and added to the beauty of the area. There are some fantastic places to take pictures. The park even comes with a gigantic American flag. For a beautiful park to experience and enjoy, I highly recommend Walton Island Park!

I don't believe it is open on a daily…read morebasis except for park events, such as the Scandinavian Day Festival, which Christopher and I attended today, There aren't many of us Scandahoovians around anymore, so the Norwegians, Swedes, Danes, Finns and Icelanders have grouped together to celebrate a shared heritage. Thus, Vasa park was born many years ago. I believe it was originally a Swedish park, but times and lack of new immigrants brought all the Scandinavians together. The park sits on the Fox River. It is ideally suited for festivals and such. Today we enjoyed Scandinavian food and entertainment and also the company of good friends Laura A, Karen P and Lisa S, who just happen to be Yelpers as well. Will be back next year for sure, and maybe even check out the Fish Boil in October. It was a bit of a ride from Chicago, but aside from an excessive amount of pesky wasps, it was a great day in a nice setting with good friends.

When we hold our own private events we do allow outside drinks and have never had an issue with parking. Unfortunately during a private event it is up to the person running the event and not up to the venue itself as to who allows outside food and drink. So please do not blame the park for the issues you had with a specific event such as a concert. We do appreciate you visiting the park. We also hope you do choose to visit for one of our personal events. And if you choose to come please feel free to bring any outside food you choose. We are not ashamed of anything because we work very hard to keep this park running. thank you

We scheduled a birthday party for our 11 year old son and Johnny put on a great event! We had 12…read moreboys and each caught 8 fish and some even caught +20! He really knows what he's doing and brought all the gear plus taught the boys important lessons on how to properly fish. Highly recommend for any others looking for a different idea for a birthday party. Many kids walked away with a new love of fishing.

They're pretty sturdy but are stacked close. Great security presence and many ushers to help. The acoustics and sound was really amazing. Much better than I expected for an outdoor venue. I'm sure if it rained that day or during the concert the grass would have been mush-to-mud. Food was a little over priced but not painful. Sandwiches were good. Really loved the sound and the crowd was an awesome mix. Will definitely go back. Both bands were incredible.

Some friends and I recently took a trip to stay at a cabin in the Rockford area. We had planned to go cross country skiing and found that Rocktown Adventures rents xc skis in the winter. What we had not planned on was how slow we would be at finally leaving the cabin to go pick up the skis. Since they unfortunately don't do reservations for the skis, we called ahead to make sure they had some before heading over. By the time we got there it was already around 3 pm and unbeknownst to us, they close at 5 pm on the weekends. We got started with the rental process only to realize we would have very little time to ski before sundown. After explaining a couple options we had for still getting out on the skis, the staff member ultimately told us it probably wouldn't be worth our money given our time constraints. Instead of staying quiet, taking our money, and letting us have a very short ski trip, the staff member suggested the option that was best for us! He then told us that if we were ever back in town to just give them a call and if they had skis available he'd have them ready for us when we arrived. Not only is the staff knowledgeable and caring but they have an incredible selection of gear. We didn't end up spending any money there, and that is exactly why this was a five star experience!

He did not ask for money up front and edited our itinerary as needed. You have to put on your "big boy pants" and tell Tor what you want and don't want in a tour, and he delivers! You of course must proofread your itinerary and ask questions by text, phone and email and that is how you get a life changing adventure. He obviously picked the best hotels and restaurants, but what was stellar, was his careful selection of people and places that we were so hospitably treated to. We were guided by an architect and outdoorsman, named Waldi, who is one of Iceland's many, especially beautiful people, who date their Icelandic families back to the original 7! We flew by private helicopter to the top of E15, the world famous volcano that erupted and sent ash veiling Europe in 2010. Gisli Gislison, our helicopter pilot, a friendly modern day Viking, soared us through a visual extravaganza in the sky! He made our tour a personal and mind blowing trek onto a cloud ringed glacier with fresh perfect snow in the stratosphere! We shuffled through a pristine white field on a volcano peak glacier in the sky to the edge of everything...where blue snow and the bluest horizon met in silence and purest sunlight . He deftly soared us over the island as if we were riding in a convertible on a Sunday afternoon, laughing and pointing at his favorite childhood spots for a view of boiling streams, frolicking Rams, smoking vents, hot rivers, and sea lions basking in azure waters (who dived and rolled for us when we buzzed closely over head). He pointed out his favorite sea side lobster restaurant, GIANT ELVES, Icelandic horses, lava fields and treated us to a colossal mosaic of colored ice, land and sea creating unimaginable art that we had never heard described and that was a sparkling spectacle forever indelible in our memories. Tor sent us into the wilderness of "SNIFFLESNEEZE" as we fondly called the Icelandic name for a national park, on the western peninsula. We stayed in a fantastic small gourmet hotel featured in a mystery on the NETFLIX series "THE LAVA FIELD". The food was amazing, the SUMMER sun never set on this iddillic country manor , with freely roaming sheep, fields of wild flowers that put Monet to shame, and an antique church with its quaint and beautiful graveyard that told stories of struggles love and loss in a small heroic community. We took a space aged trek into the world's only man made ice caves, burrowed by industrious farmers and colored by hidden lights. Our guide was a singing performance artist whose angelic voice echoed Icelandic ballads off the dripping catacomb. The vehicle that conveyed us was a ginormous converted Russian Missile launcher with 5 foot wide deflatable wheels (they have an app for that!) Should you book a tour with Tor? I SAY YOW BEST OF ALL, we sat at our hotel 101 window and cheered with the joyous country as they clapped and stomped their war cry approval to a world first victory cup over Great Britain in football.

And the hotel he booked for us in Rome was a $30 cab ride each way between the hotel and any of the major tourist attractions. When we got there, we contacted Tor, who told us it was our fault for not checking in advance. What did we need a travel agent for, if not for things like making sure we were well located?!
