I wasn't going to write a review, I was just going to forget about the experience and move on until I found out that they cracked the side of my dresser. When you hire movers you trust that they will take care of your stuff and even if it is a local move you trust that they will wrap what should be wrapped and try their best to prevent damage. Sometimes a small scratch here and there are going to happen it is just unavoidable. In a local move across town you would think there would be little or no damage at all compared to moving across the country or even 12 hours away like the last move. This dresser moved with me from Los Angeles, CA to Huntsville, AL which is a long way and has moved 9 times since including a move from Atlanta, GA to Birmingham AL and from Birmingham to Houston TX without a scratch. It is simple, wrap everything that is scrunchable and it is unlikely it will get damaged. I hired the movers with a truck and 3 guys to make it go faster and told the moving company when I moved out here You couldn't have gotten a mouse in a 26 foot Uhaul it was packed so tight thinking okay that should give them and idea with the inventory list I filled out of how much space they need. My pet peeve with movers is blatantly and obviously milking the clock. What I mean is going to the truck and coming from the truck should never be empty handed. With 3 people one person should be packing the truck and the other 2 bringing stuff to the truck. When I saw two stack of pads about 24 pads I was concerned but okay they know what they are doing and I think I walked out to the truck once or twice which was mistake # 1 on my part. So about three quarters of the way thru they ran out of tape and they are out of pads and they didn't even have shrink wrap so I gave them the last roll of tape I had. So the lead guy comes back in and says we are out of space on the truck and there was a good little bit left. I said what do we do since in 16 moves that I have done no one has ever run out of space on the truck. He said oh it happens all the time so we will go up and unload and come back and get the rest to which I replied is there a charge and he goes of course there is. Keep in mind we are 3 1/2 hours into the move which should have taken them 2 hours to load had they been efficient and always had something in their hand. I tell the guy this has never happened and paying more money is not an acceptable option and at that point I am just upset at the non schilant attitude. I go look at the truck and there is room but he made a mistake and didn't get the long part of a sectional on the truck early enough so they were not able to stand it on its end which was causing the rest of the stuff not to fit. I told him you guys need to figure something out this is unacceptable and I'll admit my tone was probably a little strong because at this point I was pissed The lead guys best response he could come up with is "Well if you don't like it we can just unload the truck and go home and you can get someone else to do your move". I spoke with the owner who seemed really nice and helpful and he sent them back to get the last of my things and I thought everything would be fine and I would just forget about it. Out of 16 moves this is by far the worst experience I have ever had for a company that gets raving reviews I am shocked to say the least. I have only had one other problem with movers and they just milked the clock but nothing was damaged, no words were exchanged and everything was taken in one trip. I will say the black guy and I am sorry I don't remember his name was very nice, helpful and he worked his butt off but I can't say anything good about the other two one of which was the lead guy. I am not one to post but no one should have an experience like I had for any reason. Just watch what they are doing and make sure they wrap things that need to be wrapped because you could get a great crew like I have had many times who do a great job or you get the worst crew I have ever had you just never know. Didn't wrap metal chair legs, dragged the legs on cement tiles outside, scraped them. I told them not to do that. Tried to place a claim with the owner, he refused. The owner can't be trusted, his team is inexperienced. This is a small outfit, used a rental truck. Do not use this group. If bad things happen, you will not be treated fairly. I paid Emmanuel Uche ahead of the assign date to move me. He said he never received the money. We Zelle it to him from our bank account. He denied that he didn't receive it. The bank said it went through. He doesn't want to return my money. He didn't move me, and he kept my $350.00. I will be reporting this to the BBB. Very unprofessional, very rude and condescending. I had to be out my place and he wouldn't move. Yet he kept my money. Not for long. Just found out he is not register with the BBB, He is not registered with the DMV. He stole this company name. He is not license to drive any vehicle. So, if he is moving you in a uhale be very careful. The BBB said because he is not registered with them they can't fight to get my money back. We used these people to move us from one apartment to another in our complex. Every piece of furniture they touched was damaged. They charged us a $1000 to mess our stuff up. They lost screws out of our bed had no tools to work with. Came in a rented u haul that was to small when asked if they had moving blankets they said they did but didn't use them. The owner came out 2 weeks later to look at our furniture and to run some stuff on it to try to fix it which did nothing. He said he would refund us some money but every time we have called he doesn't answer the phone. We paid $160 an hour while they were taking phone calls. I told the one guy to get off the phone that he was on my time. Then he just up and left before the job was done. i advise anyone to NOT use these people. I moved yesterday set time to move was 10 am they did not arrive until 11 am and one of the movers did not show up until 1130 am and they moved fast and got my stuff to my new apartment in under 2 hours but after they left i noticed my table was broken and all the man said was he could recommend some wood glue. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE EXPENSIVE AND UNRELIABLE. THE OWNER IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. In regards to moving my furniture: I requested a service consisting of a move from my storage to my home. We agreed on a time to meet at the storage unit and the men showed up TWO HOURS late. The actual owner of the company who was involved in this job showed up laughing without any regards for the fact that I was waiting in blistering heat for TWO HOURS. Due to the inconvenience, I was refunded an hour of the 3 hour services I paid for. It took the movers 1 hour to move all my boxes into my home. During the move, the owner of the company agreed to come back for the assembly service which is included in my payment (I didn't have furniture to assembly at the time). When I got my furniture delivered, I requested for the assembly service. When I tried to make an appointment with the owner, he argued with me verbally and via text indicated that he didn't agree to come back and if his men comes back I would be charged. I insisted that I already paid for the service. After arguing with me for a hour, the owner realized that he made a mistake. The assembly service was scheduled. The men were nice but again showed up LATE. I would never use Gorilla Movers again. It was a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
