I haven't had film developed since the '90s, so I was certain I was going to end up at a chain, but I decided to look for a local business. Kerry's far exceeded my expectations. I walked in and explained to the woman at the counter that I hadn't done this since likely before she was born. She took my email and told me I would get a message when the film was done and that my scans would be sent via a link. They offered me my negatives, but the first roll was only a test and I said scans alone were fine. I was not expecting my pictures within an hour, but that was the turnaround. The scans were magnificent. I bought a new roll of film while I was there, and the selection is much better than Walmart's and the price was fair. I'm floored with my first experience at this lab. Not only will I be shooting more now that I know I have a lab in the area, but this is where I'm taking all my business.

Asking questions was like she was reading off a script or she didn't know. I asked about the camera I always had and about specific lens, and they didn't have 2 of the lenses we were looking at. They have a smaller section of used camera equipment then they used to, which doesn't necessarily reflect badly on them, but I can't purchase what they don't have, the one lens that would fit my camera was priced pretty fairly in my opinion at $400 less the online.

I looked online for a local camera repair shop and found Midstate Camera Repair. My camera booboo occurred on a Saturday afternoon, and they close at noon on Saturdays and are closed Sundays, so I panicked for an entire weekend before I could drop my camera off first thing Monday morning. Well let's just say I was super relieved after bringing my camera in to Midstate Camera Repair. It's owned by two brothers and they are both so nice. They told me not to worry and that the part of the camera I had inadvertently touched was something they could easily clean and even if the part had somehow gotten scratched and needed to be replaced (it was some kind of internal lens made of frosted glass, can't remember what it's called) it would only cost an extra $10. Cleaning it was $45. This was a lot cheaper than I thought it would be because I wasn't sure what was wrong and at the time it wasn't even taking pictures so I was freaking out. Not gonna lie. Mark (one of the owners) told me my camera would probably be ready by the following Wednesday, but I actually got a call a few hours later letting me know it was already fixed and ready to go! What a delightful surprise! Not only was it cheap, but also fast, and the service can't be beat. I know that from now on I will NOT take it upon myself to try and clean stray hairs or dust or whatnot from inside my camera because I will inadvertently screw up my camera. I've learned my lesson and from now on I will only be bringing it to Midstate Camera Repair for all of my camera needs!

If you want anything printed with details this is not the place for you. If you want to be able to bring a USB drive or SD card to the store to have prints made, this is not the place for you. Repeatedly took film here to be developed and it was just fine. Then one time when I went to get my…read morepictures, all I had was negatives. The woman behind the desk said that's what I had asked for. But that wasn't what I asked for. So then I had to spend more money to get those negatives developed into pictures. I think some avid photographers just want negatives for some reason, but I can't imagine most people don't want prints. I didn't even know you could only get negatives from a roll of film. She, as the professional, made an error in judgment by not assuming when I asked for my photos to be developed - like I always had in the past as a repeat customer - that I wanted prints. She wasn't remotely apologetic. I won't go back.
