Disappointed by Lack of Follow-Up and Communication! I initially had a positive impression of Gordon Salon in Glenview when I went in for highlights. However, I was disappointed with how things were handled afterward. Right after the appointment, I called to say that the highlights looked too dark on top and that I needed a few more added. Unfortunately, they were fully booked with an event on the only day I had available before traveling out of town. I spoke with a staff member named Taylor, who kindly suggested that I could get the highlights adjusted while I was away, since we couldn't fit it in before my trip. She also offered a special conditioning treatment for my next visit, which I appreciated at the time. However, since I was in Asia and concerned about the language barrier at an unfamiliar salon, I ultimately decided not to have them redone while I was there. When I returned about a month later and called to follow up, another staff member told me they don't address any color issues after 2-3 weeks. I explained the situation and the offer Taylor had made, and was told they would talk to her and get back to me. I never heard back. I followed up myself with four more calls and left messages, but no one ever returned my calls--not even to tell me they weren't going to honor the offer. It's really disappointing. The team was friendly and accommodating at first, but the lack of follow-up and communication afterward left me feeling dismissed and unvalued as a customer. A simple call back--whether to say yes or no--would have made all the difference read more

I finally decided to just book an appointment with Josie at Gordon Salon and hope for the best. I honestly couldn't be happier! From start to finish, I had an excellent experience at Gordon Salon. I booked online and then the receptionist called to confirm my details as a new client. She was so friendly and walked me through the covid screening process. The Glen can get busy, but Gordon Salon is situated right next to a large parking garage so it's easy to find a spot. I was starting to feel nervous as a walked in, but I was quickly put at ease once I met Josie. She's so friendly and really took her time to figure out what I was looking for as a new haircut and style. She gave me recommendations and explained different products to help me achieve the look I wanted. I absolutely love how my hair turned out. This is a really nice clean salon. Especially during Covid, the salon practices safe distancing and pre-checkin on your phone. They also take your temperature and give you a clean robe to wear upon entry. I felt very comfortable as they only let a few clients in at a time and we were all far distance from one another. They were also sanitizing everything ie;chairs, tables etc... I had a root touchup, pull thru, cut and blow out with Bree. Bree is an excellent hair dresser and does a phenomenal job. Bree is very personable and meticulous on getting requests done right. Bree also offers her opinion if you're not sure. I went with her suggestion for hair color variation and it came out even better than what I imagined. Her cutting skills are spot on too. Considering I hadn't had my hair cut since February, she did an awesome job getting me ready for the holidays! Ask for Bree as you don't be disappointed! This is my new salon now. THE WORST SALON EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD (0 stars). They completely RUINED my long, healthy hair by bleaching it all over, and I wasted 10 hours of my life. On top of it all, I had to PAY $150 dollars despite the fact that they PERMANENTLY RUINED MY HAIR!!!!!!!!! I've spent the past 16 hours CRYING AT HOME about the damage. I came in for a balayage with money pieces; in fact, I had come in a week early for a consultation to confirm that they can perform a balayage and give me a price. The stylist sat there and lied to my face, saying she can perform a balayage when she's clearly never done it. The salon just wanted to exploit me because I'm a college student. In a matter of 8 hours, she BLEACHED my entire hair. If only I had pictures of how horrid I looked before her manager came and started to "fix it". It was yellow with black roots, when I asked for a balayage. The pictures shown below are after the attempted "fix" for the horrible job; my roots are still ORANGE, my hair is 4 disgusting different shades all throughout with HARSH lines and NO blending, and my ends are brown (when they should be LIGHT in a balayage). I spent 3 years growing out my hair and investing in high-quality products from Sephora, for them to ruin it all in 10 HOURS. And I still had to pay for this DISGUSTING SERVICE. My blood is absolutely boiling about what they've done to me and I BEG everyone to never come here. On top of it all, the lady at the register had the NERVE TO ASK if I wanted leave a TIP after they utterly destroyed my hair. This was supposed to be a balayage, and I ended up miserable with destroyed hair. After all this, I was still forced to pay this revolting excuse of a Salon for the "products used" to bleach and damage my hair. read more

I LOVE Aveda and their products. I love that they try and remove all the crap out of their products and are mostly vegan. I get my hair colored by Antonia and I love working with her. She has done a fabulous job and she's so warm and friendly. I will definitely be a regular client here. The Salon also has a light and airy feel.
