This place never disappoints me, after coming here ever since they first opened. They are conveniently open late with a wide selection of tasty food and delicious aguas frescas. Some of my favorites is their gorditas and sopes: Carne deshebrada, chicharron, nopales con queso, and papas con chorizo. Their Lemonade is always the best, perfectly balanced and sweet. Parking isn't always the best and their other waters can be a hit or a miss but despite that, I keep coming back for more. A must-try local! read more

Service was not as good as it once was but over the years I've seen a huge decline in the cleanliness of this location. I went this morning and it was dirty all over. I had never seen it this bad ever and I've been going to this location for over 15 years. It was pretty empty and all the booths were dirty, there broken chips all over the seats and the floor, tables weren't wiped down, someone had started to sweep the floor and left the broom there by a table for a good 20 minutes with all the trash on the floor. I was charged $50+ for just a small pozole and 2 kids chicken nugget meals and 2 small horchatas. Again, waitress was nice, no one was rude but the cleanliness of the restaurant is a huge factor in people wanting to return. read more

Today was not good here at all. We walked in and the AC was off. Sign number one. We ordered the Huevos Mexicanos and the Potatoes with eggs. The beans tasted sour as well as the chilaquiles. The red sauce was also sour. Our waitress took our plates and explained that people have different tastes and that the kitchen staff tried out what we returned and said it was lacking condiments but it didn't taste bad to them. They took another order from us but we weren't trying to get sick so we just ordered egg, potato and bacon tacos just in case. This is the second time this has happened here but really thought the first time was just our taste buds. Coffee is good here as well as the service but I don't know what happened today. My husband and I have been coming to this restaurant for several years because we thought the food was great. We have been told that this restaurant was filthy but because we have never had any problems with our food or bad experiences we continued to come. This evening we stopped by for a meal and my husband discovered a roach floating in his water. A close friend of ours had a similarl experience at this restaurant and since we have been here several times before we were shocked and disgusted. I really like this place and have been a frequent since moving to the area two years ago. I do have to complain about parking, there's usually limited parking and each are pretty small for a Ford F-250 or above. I love the Fajita Plate, their beef is always seasoned perfectly, however I do have to complain that they don't serve much. It's mostly onions and bell peppers you see. It comes with a side of frijoles a la charra, rice sour cream, guacamole, pico de Gallo and tortillas, either corn or flour. Flour are amazing! I also ordered the Enchiladas Mexicanas and they were good. They had melted white cheese on the inside topped with queso fresco in the out. It games served with refined beans and rice. The rice didn't have much flavor to it and so did the frijoles a la charra, which came with the fajitas. We will definitely be returning. Give this place a chance! Absolutely delicious lunch special. Tacos al carbon- i loved that they come with grilled spring onions with the bulbs attached. Nice pico, delicious salsa. And the margarita was fresh and delicious. Strong too which is rare. One large put me down for a siesta. read more

I love authentic mexican restaurant, and this by far the best, I no longer eat meat so when I got there I always get the cheese enchiladas, and they be so good. My boyfriend always get the shrimp enchiladas and they make it special for him since it's not on the menu. The only the thing we don't like is the beans because the refried beans they only thing I hate that they don't have black beans. Took a friend from out of town here right before an astros game. It was pretty convenient and we were on our quest to visit all new places anyway. They received pretty good reviews on yelp.. ...which helped us make our decision too. Salsa is a good indicator to tell how the main entrees will taste. A red and a green comes to the table with fresh tortilla chips. I preferred the red over the green, and neither were really spicy. Service was outstanding from start to finish. The manager (or owner) greeted us immediately and took us to one of the few booths in the main room. We both ordered the melon aguas which were good, but not that thick. For food, we ordered the 3 fajita tacos, taco de papas con chorizo, and chilaquiles with sliced avocado. The food was all delicious and we both easily cleaned our plates. Friend said the fajita meat is not seasoned that much, which is common at houston area taquerias anyway, I was used to it. We both ordered small liquados to go, friend ordered strawberry and I had a banana. Overall, we both noticed the aguas and liquados to be a little thinner than the place we had visited the day before, in Gulfgate area. Prices for both were also a little more too. Today after church, we went to Gorditas Aguascalientes on 3810 Irvington blvd. My coffee mug had lipstick and the cup of water had a bunch of stuff floating in it. Plus the waitress had the nerve to admit that they pour the aguas frescas back in the jar so they won't go to waste. Fiesta en Guadalajara restaurant a block away puts this place to shame. I've been coming to Gorditas for over ten years and it's been one of my go to spots for Mexican food but today was a let down. I was here in July and they messed up my husbands order. We decided to come back today but after today we won't be returning to Gorditas. We waited a long time for our food to be brought to us. Our waitress brought my enchiladas típicas mexicanas and they were cold. My husband ordered three Gorditas and the tortillas were burnt and falling apart. We could see that our plates were ready at the kitchen for pick up and it took our waitress forever to bring our food. Also noticed the cook wasn't wearing a mask when we were laying for our food. We found this restaurant on Yelp, and gave it a try after having some beers at Saint Arnold's brewery. Best decision ever! It was totally packed upon arrival, barely any open tables, good sign! They immediately brought us fresh chips and salsa. The chips were thin, hot, and crispy. There are two salsas. One, is a muy picante red salsa with to-die-for flavors, and the other a more mild and fresh green tomatillo. There are tons of options on the menu, and I'd be willing to be you can't go wrong. There's a good variety of authentic mexican options, as well as tex-mex. Everyone in my group slobbered over how delicious their food was. The atmosphere is a total dive, don't go for any frills. Regardless of being extremely casual, we received top-notch service from every staff member we interacted with. I cannot complain about the service, everyone seemed nice and attentive. I ordered gorditas to go. I was told they didn't do to go orders but I'm sure he was just pulling my leg. He politely took my order and made sure the other parties waiting were seated as soon as possible. I ordered fajita, carne de puerco en salsa (pork) and chicharron gorditas. The best one was the fajita gorditas but I've had way better (my brother agreed). I felt like the gorditas lacked flavor and the salsa was weak! The queso flameado was some of the best I ever had! Perfect amount of chorizo and queso. The michelada wasn't to my liking though, too much Tabasco and no real flavor to it. Stopped by this place with a friend for a late dinner and a couple of beers. The place is fairly clean and welcoming. They took our order quickly and the food arrived fast too. I ordered a torta and three tacos. I could not believe how BIG the torta was! The only negative is that it took a while for us to get their attention when we wanted another beer after dinner. This may be because they were thinking about closing. However, a family had just sat down to order at the same time, so the staff were going to be there a while.
