I've driven by this place several times at 6am on the way to work. I finally stopped in and WOW. I ordered two Gorditas. One with egg/red sauce; another with ground beef/green sauce. These are like little pockets stuffed with hot (heated, not spicy) ingredients. Just an amazingly good flavor! And SO many flavors/stuffings to choose from! I'm definitely coming back. Oh - why only 4 stars? While I ordered two Gorditas, they brought out a plate that included rice and beans to my table. I started munching away (enjoying the flavor) - but then an employee came over with a plate of two Gorditas sans the rice/beans and apologized for having originally given me the wrong order (!). So I got my original order too (!). Still- do I like it? HECK YEAH! Will I return? HECK YEAH! So, it apparently you CAN'T order online... My son tried twice last night... So we called in a large order... Charged 75.15 total! My son said they seemed as if they were "rushing him" out even though it was before 8:30 p.m. (restaurant closes at 9) They charged for two items that we did not receive. After calling them the next morning they said "call back after 3 p.m." and yes, there a language barrier.... They seem very shady... Although my boys enjoy their burritos, I do not like doing business with people who "rush" or don't show proper customer service. I'd think twice before visiting this establishment. read more

I was on my way home from work and spotted this place out the corner of my eye. I pulled up in the parking lot excited hoping to order some delicious food. Again, as you know Mexican Food is one of my favorite foods. I was looking up at the menu trying to decide on what could I ordered different from my original meal. The young lady behind the register was very nice and patient with me while I decide what I wanted to ordered. Finally, I decided to ordered the steak Gordita with a side of rice. In college, I was a big fan of a little place by DePaul that made Durango/Norteña style burritos. I was led here by a newspaper article, and it did not disappoint. The store was very clean, and service was friendly. Burritos and Gorditas were a good price for the size. I tried the Guiso Rojo pork, the chicharones in green sauce for the burritos and the carne asada Gordita. The burritos were delicious, and the seasoning was as good as it could be. The only "good, not great" filling was the carne asada, which was a bit underseasoned. The home tortillas and masa Gordita was top notch. The red salsa (a nice heat, a bit of arbol punch) and tomatillo/avocado sauce complement the offerings quite well. Horchata was a good choice for a drink here. There is the requisite Mexican soda options alone with the standard "fill your own" gringo soda station. I would go with the homemade limonade, Jamaica or the horchata. If this place has a byob policy, it was not obvious. This is definitely in my rotation from now on. read more

I can't rate them on their service since I did takeout, and ordered my order over the phone. They also have a drive thru which is also convenient. I ordered their carne Asada quesadilla, and two groditas. We ordered their chicharron en salsa verde and a desebrada Gordita. Their carne Asada quesadilla was very greasy, and didn't taste all that great either. Definitely not high quality meat being used here. However it was very cheesy, probably the reason why it was too greasy. I do plan on returning and trying out maybe their burritos and of course more of their gorditas, but I will most likely be skipping their quesadillas next time. Their chicharron en salsa verde was very tasty. It's basically pork rinds in a salsa verde. It tastes almost identical to what we make at home. On their menu, they have a chili next to it indicating that it's spicy, however it wasn't spicy at all. On the other hand, their desebrada, shredded beef with green sauce had the same chili next to it, and it was freaking spicy. It was also mixed with potatoes and tasted very good. They have 16 different gorditas. I'll be back to try a few more of their menu. read more

So. Gordillas. The curd cheese Burrito Norteños are pretty good, but do note that the eggs have peppers in them. At one point, the rice and beans that we had ordered hadn't been served yet. Was excited to make the trek to Addison to try their Burrito Norteno, but was sadly unimpressed with the desebrada, which was more potato and salsa verde than shredded beef. Next time I would go with the barbacoa. On the positive side, the carne asada and al pastor tacos were solid and the tortillas were awesome! Pulling up directions to drive back the next day I notice they had a 2nd location that was closer home and figure I'll take the chance on this location. With about 25+ filling options that range from Steak, Barbacoa, Ground Beef w/Red sauce just to name a few (Not 100% sure if Gordillas had tacos from opening day based on other reviews wanting more variety, but something that can be picked, but not the main focus on the menu.) Your best option is to eat in. Dine in and your treated to a salsa bar where you can add chips and about 6 different sauces as well as fresh ingredients Pros: Food is hot right of the grill/flattop. Negative: Portions are smaller vs the Chicago location. I was FULL couldn't finish the last few bites at the Chicago location but literally the exact same meal at the suburban location...I was full lol, but I finished ever bite. Thought this Gordullas would be an exact carbon copy of the one in the city. I'll say it's about 92% I notice right away that they didn't have the home-made lemonade, but the minute made lemonade instead and not the same style hot peppers. If I could give them zero stars I would everything was ok when I walked in the girl in the front took my order what they failed to say is that the wait was going to be an hour for food. This is not your "Taco Bell" style gordita. It is unlike most of the mexican joints/restaurants you'll find lined up and down Lake St. Nothing here is HUGE. In fact I was not a fan of gorditas and Gordillas until now. Since I was new to the Gordillas scene, I was surprised to find they served only gorditas, burritos and quesadillas. No tacos I thought? After tasting a few different gorditas (asada, barbacoa, and desebrada (shredded beef) and Asado Rojo burrito - I was immediately taken by the fresh, thin, lightly grilled tortillas - so so good. Fillings were fresh, juicy tender meat and full of flavor. The asado rojo burrito (pulled pork in red sauce) had a nice spicy kick. Burritos come with refried beans (nice and creamy). So refreshing to have a unique Mexican stop. I read Gordillas preparation style is Northern Mexico (hence the difference). They also offer breakfast and various coffee. Have to say I thoroughly enjoyed everything I tasted. Went through drive thru day after they opened and while I noticed patrons inside, drive-thru was not busy. Girl who took my order was helpful regarding various fillings to choose from and after waiting around 10 min. for my order, she was very apologetic about the wait and stated they were short staffed. Noticed around 5 workers in the kitchen - regardless, they just opened so they get a pass by me.. Gorditas range from $2.75 (asada) to $2.25. Cheese, crema, avocado are .50 xtra. Burrito with sour cream was $3.50. Don't expect huge portions. A few bites of each and I was stuffed (like a burrito). I found them to be very filling, fresh and tasty! I had been waiting a long time to finally try this place, as I just absolutely love a great Gordita. I went in after I dropped my daughter off at gymnastics and did a trial taste on a steak Gordita. There was only one group of patrons at a table so I thought it was be quick. I was wrong. I ordered one steak Gordita and a Mexican-made Coke. I sat down after they gave me a number. 15 minutes later, a server brought me my single steak Gordita, no pop, no hot sauces, Come on... I politely asked for my Coke and some hot sauce. The price of this one, small, street taco sized Gordita was $3.39. I can't remember exactly how much the Coke was but my bill was over 8 bucks, ridiculous... the taste was average but I ate the whole thing in three bites. A solid 4 stars. They only serve gorditas, burrito and quesadillas. Quesadillas are pretty big but the burritos and gorditas are not. The burritos are the size of what burritos in Mexico would be; a regular flower tortilla much like a Taco but in a flour tortilla. The gorditas are small in size but big on flavor. Just don't come in expecting your abuelitas gorditas fat, big and full of meat. The restaurant is really nice inside. Very modern looking with an excellent salsa bar. read more

Stopped by since I was in the area and the place is easy to see and they have plenty of parking. Once inside at the time I visited there was not a lot of people so it was quick to get my order in. The restaurant overall was clean and plenty of seating available. As for the food, it was good and fast to get. Stopped here on a Tuesday afternoon to grab 2 tacos. I hadn't ever heard of them so I decided to try one chicken and one steak taco. It turned out it was Tuesday and they had buy one get one free tacos. So I ended up getting 4, 2 of each. This restaurant has become my Thursday spot. I bowl in a league in Addison and ever since we found this restaurant we have been coming here weekly. They make food Durango style, my father is from this part of Mexico and he says they taste very similar. From the gorditas to the quesadillas they are very good. Especially since they make the tortillas hand made. You can't get better than that. The employees are always very friendly and help you choose when you have doubts. I've only gone during dinner but they also have breakfast favorites and on sundays they have Mexican soup which is menudo. I will definitely stop here one of these morning and on a Sunday to try their other variety of food. Thank you to all the staff on how to be professional and take care of your repeat customers. I ordered burritos there and I expected chorizo with eggs but instead I got a lot of beans and a hint of chorizo. They also fried the tortilla with pork fat. If I wanted a chimichanga I'd ask for one but you are NOT supposed to fry it if it's burrito. It tasted horrible. 4 dollars for a skinny burrito? It was a bad experience. My mom ordered a coffee and they added sugar and cinnamon!! To the coffee!!! I was expecting them to serve it black or ask if we wanted sugar and cream. I tasted it as well and it was just grainy sugary coffee it was gritty. Horrible experience. I'm from Mexico and i would not recommend this place. The concept is basically a thick tortilla opened on the side to form a pocket. Comes with lettuce and sour cream and your choice of meat. The salsa bar is extensive with various flavors , additional topping like tomatoes and cilantro. Amd free chips and salsa. I saw the meats precooked in a steam table containers. I ordered mine with steak. Completely flavorless amd very well done and dry. The place has great service by the staff. And a very clean facility. I had been looking forward to trying this place for awhile. Reviews are good and menu looked authentic. Homemade tortillas and the salsa bar are pluses. The food was really less than average. We had a variety of tacos and asada gorditas. I have never had tortillas so soaked in grease. The rice was cold. The chicken in the taco was so salty, I couldn't eat it. My BF and I were just very disappointed overall. We ate about 3 pm and still felt sick from the oily food and meat late into the night.
