I had been looking forward to trying this place for awhile. Reviews are good and menu looked authentic. Homemade tortillas and the salsa bar are pluses. The food was really less than average. We had a variety of tacos and asada gorditas. I have never had tortillas so soaked in grease. The rice was cold. The chicken in the taco was so salty, I couldn't eat it. My BF and I were just very disappointed overall. We ate about 3 pm and still felt sick from the oily food and meat late into the night. It is a cute place and great concept but they need to worK on food quality if they want repeat business. read more

When I first saw construction going on at this location, I thought, "No way! Not another Mexican restaurant on Lake Street. They'll never make it." Then, when they stayed open, I was afraid to try it because it looked like a chain restaurant. Why would I go to a (seemingly) chain restaurant when I have so many good mom and pop places in the neighborhood? But the other day, I caught a glimpse of their marketing for 10 gorditas and rice and beans for $20. After a long week, I figured we'd give them a shot. What's there to lose? Oh my gosh. I can't believe I've been missing out on these delicious pockets of yum! You can mix and match however you want 'em. We chose steak, barbacoa, pressed pork, and beef with spicy green sauce. I do agree with another reviewer that the steak was slightly dry BUT(!!!) they give you this delicious sauce that you slather all over that tortilla of goodness, and you're good to go! Beef with green sauce was super(!) spicy (for those that like a thrill with their meal.) We gotta say that the pressed pork was our favorite. It was filled with flavor. read more

Just went here for a "quick" drive thru pickup for lunch. Bad idea. It took 15 minutes to place an order and then another 15 minutes for them to make a burrito. Come on, get your speaker fixed in your drive-thru or have someone outside calling in orders. The only reason they earned 2 stars is that the burrito was quite good. Let me start by saying I went through the drive thru. I waited a total of 20 minutes before I got my food and drove off, but I believe it's because gorditas are not a fast food. Four cars just gave up and left but I decided to wait because I really wanted to try them. They have probably 20+ fillings to choose from, but the first four I asked for they were out of. They also stopped making egg after 11 am. So I had to pick some different ones. Once I opened them they were a bit soggy, which I don't really mind, but it was hard to eat them because the top layer completely disintegrated. The best tasting one was deshebrada, all the other ones lacked flavor and salt. The beans didn't taste fresh, and the chicharron prensado was just carnitas. All in all, I'm glad I tried them but I probably won't be back. read more

I love the free salsa station. Their food perfectly captures the authentic taste of Mexico.

Stopped by today gorditas are good. But it was a little pricey for 6 gorditas and 3 drinks total was $30. The gorditas are pretty small if you want additional ingredients they charge you extra. I was left hungry because of their size. The Horchata was way too sweet. Would I be back maybe but not soon. Their is other places in town that sell the same thing for a better price and they are bigger. read more

I wasn't a fan of gorditas until now. I ordered steak, asado (pork in red chili sauce), and bean & cottage cheese gorditas. They were so flavorful and the salsa made it even better. Will probably come back for the next couple of days. read more

Tried this for the first time and will be my last. Both hubby and I had the gorditas- steak, pork in green salsa, and cheese and peppers. We also ordered the rice water (agua de horchata). The agua was like drinking a strong vanilla milk and wasn't anything like any horchata I've ever had. The gorditas had no flavor and the green salsa had a different taste and color until we realized it had cumin in it. Authentic green salsa does not have cumin. It threw the whole flavor off completely. The chips were good and one of the salsas had a kick to it and the service was friendly. But for authentic Mexican food this is not it. read more

Tried it for the 1st time, order a burrito, Gordita, quesadilla. Here is the run down. Burrito - not your average size, the steak was very bland and I had approximately 7 pieces of connective tissue that I needed to pull out of my mouth. The tortilla was actually really good, but very very oily. Also if you want lettuce, tomato and cheese you must specify. Gordita - I got the steak again flavorless and full of connective tissue. The tortilla pocket was really delicious, but again very oily. Quesadilla - I couldn't eat it, it was literally swimming in oil, so I can't review it. Chips and Salsa - pretty good, Salsa is not runny and the chips are fresh. Overall - I won't return, I wasn't impressed and there are obviously many other restaurants to choose from in Addison. I'll stick to our two favorites. Although the drive through is a nice touch! read more

First time here, and I'm giving three stars, because this place was extremely clean, I like the clean comfortable decor, salsa bar was a nice touch. I ordered the burrito it was the smallest burrito I had ever see, meat was dry and lacked authentic flavor or taste. Great food but the tortilla machine broke down about three weeks ago and I was told it be fixed in a week it has now been three weeks and still no tortilla machine. So what they are using now is the package tortillas which are not good also the regular burritos with the tortillas that they make with the machine are already small and the package ones are even smaller. I had really high hope for this place. I went on 1/12/18 for the very first time to use my coupon for a free food item. I ordered three gorditas: asada, rajas con queso and chicharron en salsa verde. I was super disappointed!!!! The asada had good flavor and was not chewy but very plain! There was no tomatoes, lettece, sour cream...nothing. The rajas con queso was SUPER salty and the chicharron in salsa verde was so spicy I couldn't finish it. I will never be going here again.
