The nachos you get at the beginning are very good. The steak quesadilla was greasy. the to go order - We ordered a lot of tacos and they put 4 tacos in one foil. I found that a little strange. I would prefer 2 in one foil. they were still good when I got them to work. the cheese quesadilla was good as well. so I do recommend coming here on Tuesdays and Thursdays when the tacos are $1.50. Was attending an event at the event space in the same plaza and had a bunch of time to kill and decided to stop by here for some breakfast. It was not too busy, and had it not been for the event there seemed to be quite a bit of parking. They have a pretty decent sized menu with a small breakfast section which is what we opted for. J had the chorizo and eggs while I got the chilaquiles with eggs and steak. The eggs were definitely over hard, but I'm not super picky about my eggs so it was fine. Although prices seem a little high, portions are HUMONGOUS and definitely worth the price. I ate half and was stuffed. Food was delicious, and there was so much of it. We left with our tummies full, super satisfied, and a bag full of leftovers. I love the serving plates and cups for certain drinks that give it more of that authentic Mexican flair. Service was decent, we didn't have like one waitperson but several but it wasn't difficult to flag them down when we needed something. We needed to wait for menus and when received there was NO restrictions or stipulations for the $1 tacos (taco Tuesday), however we found out when we received the bill that not ALL tacos are included in the special. Four of us entered for the 1st time to Amigas. We weren't sure what to expect. The waiter came over as soon as we walked in. The food was plentiful & delicious. We all took our leftovers home. The dinners were served on HUGE rectangular platters. The drinks were brought in what seemed to be med/lge. recycled mayo jars. I'm all about repurposing. That we all found cute & the beverages were plentiful to the point that refills were unnecessary. The prices were reasonable for the amount of food we all received. The place was almost empty. None of us could understand that. The service was ok. I asked for flour tortillas & received corn ones. No biggie,I like both. Requested ice water- did not receive it. Again, not a problem. We asked for extra napkins & someone other than our waiter dropped some off. The ambience could have been any place- no real sign of the Mexican culture. Although they had good music playing. A mix of Mexican & current American songs. Towards the end of the meal the music became too loud to continue a conversation. That was mainly what all 4 of us did not appreciate. I would recommend this restaurant. In fact all 4 of us agreed that it was an enjoyable experience & we would return sometime in the near future. We ordered: Carne tampiqueña Enchiladas Ranchero Shrimp tacos I had the tampiqueña and it was excellent. Nice char flavor on the steak. It came with rice, beans, cheese enchilada, more guacamole, sour cream, onions, and tortillas. Lots of food, and it was delicious. The tacos and enchilada dishes were also given the thumbs up. I went to this place on a holiday so I assumed it would've been slightly better than my previous stops. I was wrong the food was ok but not too exciting. The staff didn't look too happy to be there. The rice was mushy and seemed like it was sitting in a pan in a hot well all day. Then refried beans seemed watery and salty, the seasoning on the food was bland and lacked the flavor you'd expect from a restaurant like this one. Unfortunately, the new ordering functionality on the website was still under construction and was mistakenly published prior to final testing and the owner's approval. My order was submitted, but I was charged incorrectly. The restaurant owner quickly identified the problem and refunded the difference in price without any pushback. Coming here was completely unexpected as I had popped into the Goodwill next door! I hadn't really eaten and was like "why shouldn't I wine/dine myself?". Indoors gives off a welcoming, bright vibe and there is a good mix of music playing at all times. Their green sauce enchiladas and lime margaritas are excellent and so flavorful! I just note that the salsa verde has quite a kick to it (and I basically eat salsa verde every week) but it is still a great salsa. He waitresses are so nice and we'll-mannered, which adds to the comfortable environment. If you're in the Elmhurst/Glendale Heights area, I recommend you stop by! We have been a few times to this restaurant. The portion sizes are generous, prices reasonable and service has been good.expansive menu offers something for everyone. A key to measuring tasty food is in the rice and beans, which are tasty. Horchata is good! The place is smaller, so tables fill up rather quickly at busy times. Flautas and mixed fajitas are tasty, and the burrito suizo and chimichanga are huge! Salsas are flavorful, and they don't charge you for chip refills like some other nearby places do.
