After a few hours at St Lawrence Market, we wanted to sit down, have a beer and a snack. Goose Island was nearby, and we were familiar w/ the brand, so we decided to drop in. We had a flight and some fries (not pictured), as we relaxed and cooled off. The beers were very good, but we did receive a couple of short pours. Likewise, the fries were GBD, and were nice & hot. There's two patio space as well, one on the front and one on the side, that's semi private. My session bitter (picture) was refreshing, and don't let the word bitter fool you, it's just enough bitter and not too much. Great late night eats in Toronto! We hadn't tried Goose Island beer before but we like craft brews and pub food so this spot ended up being a great selection. I want to give a shout out to our server who made lemonade and sweet tea from the bar because those drinks weren't on the menu and it's what the kids wanted to drink. My friends and I came here after work one evening for dinner and drinks. We preferred the well lit feel of the Goose compared to the adjoining Bier Market restaurant with which whom it shares the same menu. We also preferred the high top seating surrounded by giant steel drums which gave off the feel of being in a distillery. The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because it took us nearly 20 minutes before my friend was able to wave down a waiter, otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The smoked chicken pesto pizza was a perfect sharing plate. Both my gf and I ordered the Caprese salad after spying someone else's order at the next table which I loved. As a tip, if you're not a big fan of beer they have fruity sweet beers too. My gf and I both ordered the Allora: pink guava and orange zest which was extremely refreshing without being overly sweet. Goose Island Brewhouse is located in the Old Town Toronto area. They had a nice patio on this beautiful summer day and we headed inside to take a look at their menu before deciding whether we wanted to dine in or not. Stepping in and glancing through their menu, I also noticed how nice the interior was. I could already spot at least one item I could try on their menu, so we decided to dine here. I definitely liked the cozy interior of the restaurant. There were a lot of brew kettles and tanks and I could see the line of different types of Goose Island beers on tap at the counter. I was so impressed with this meal! First of all, we had a flight of beer (I love flights). We were able to try the original Goose Island beer plus three other reincarnations! It was so great. We had the Nutmutter, Thunder Gun, Redacted, and the Goose Island IPA. I liked how each beer was labelled in chalk on the board so that we could see which beers were which. It's little things like this that make the dining experience even better. Secondly, they had a sharing board option where you could customize your board with any of their 25 culinary creations! They priced them at three, five, seven, nine on a board, or a la carte. We decided to choose three items to go on our sharing board. We chose the Crispy Brussels Sprout Leaves, Triple Cream Brie, and the Smoked Kielbasa sausage. Our three choices were fantastic. The Crispy Brussels Sprout Leaves was really good with lots of parmesan cheese on it. The Triple Cream Brie was great as well as the Smoked Kielbasa sausage. The bread that came with the sharing board was so good too! There was also a small tub of pickles. I appreciated that our server came to check up on us often. I especially appreciated that when our mains arrived before we were finished our sharing board, she apologized for the quick arrival of the mains and asked us if we wanted to put the dishes under the heating lamp to keep them warm first. I declined her considerate suggestion, but it was definitely appreciated! (I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant where the server has suggested that before.) I ordered the Pig Roast Sandwich. Its description sucked me in and I was very curious about a "brined and basted whole roasted suckling pig, crackling, seasonal fruit slaw, jalapeno and dijonnaise on a toasted black and white sesame seed bun". When it arrived, I was so impressed with its size! The portion was huge! At first, I actually thought that the wrong order was given to us because I didn't think that the "crackling" part was present. However, after I asked the server about this, she took the order back to ask the kitchen about it and reassured us that it was the correct order. I liked the sandwich regardless. There was actually so much roasted pork in between the buns. It was a very impressive portion. K ordered the Chicken Schnitzel which was served with Yukon gold mashed and mixed vegetables with mushroom, tomato, and onion gravy. It was also a really nicely plated dish. In fact, Goose Island seems to share its dining space and menu with Bier Market as the plate that this dish arrived on had the Bier Market logo on it. This Chicken Schnitzel was also very impressive as the chicken cutlet was nicely crispy on the outside but not dry at all! It was really good! I also liked the fresh and moist vegetables that came with it. As you can tell, we had a really good time dining here. The food choices were exceptional -- that sharing board is genius -- the portions were phenomenal and the tastes were good, the service was splendid, and the vibe of the restaurant was so nice to chill in for some beers. This place is more of an extension to the Bier Market than a separate entity IMO. I have tried some of the Goose Island offerings from LCBO so had an OK idea of what they sell here. However I was disappointed to see they didn't have any of the varieties I enjoyed were not on tap that day of the visit. The saving grace is one can order of the extensive beer list for Bier Market. I was told by the regulars here that even the food menu is the same. The setup is OK and there is plenty of seating which is great as one can get a spot even on a busy weekend. I tried the Chicken Schnitzel and sub the sweet potato fries. The food seems to have improved from what I recall as it has been eons since I dined at the Bier Market. Decent. Now for the service it was friendly yet there were quite a few lapses where we would go unnoticed for long periods of time. So came here yesterday with a friend, and it was pretty average. We were seated quickly, and the space is nice (and huge because they share it with BierMarkt next door - including their menu which is nice). Service was A+, he was attentive without being overbearing, and very personable. He also made a point of trying to help us order beer that we would actually like, which doesn't always happen; as well as quite knowledgeable about the menu as he's apparently "researched = sampled" it all. The food was pretty underwhelming. The goose island beef sandwich was bland, lukewarm, and seemed like a "beef sandwich" you'd heat up in the microwave and eat. The charcuterie boards are okay, but the bread is cold and tastes stale, and the offerings (we got prosciutto, blue cheese, and brussel sprouts) are all things that would be 300% cheaper and doable at home. The markt salad was nice, not overdressed, and very pretty, but pretty unmemorable. The space is nice, and it was quite busy (I think there might have been some kind of hockey game, saw a lot of jerseys). Would I go back? Goose Island is a former US Craft brewery that was bought by one of he big 3 and started exporting into Canada. This brewhouse is a sort of "pop up" attached to Beir Market and shares a kitchen. So from a food perspective it's decent pub food. You can do better or worse. The pull here is the wide range of micro brews all done on sight by Goose Island. You can get their normal Honkers and IPA, but your better off enjoying the 10 or so beers made in location. They range from low IBU (bitterness) of 6, a play on a Smokey polish style, to a 65 double IPA called Mantis. The latter, which is also quite boozy, was my favourite. Expect bitter with pineapple and stone fruit. Lots of accessible options and they've really covered all the bases. I'm a bit of a beer snob, but I enjoyed my flight ($14 for 4 x 7oz). My wife had a bacon poutine that she enjoyed. Worth a visit. read more

I must admit I have never been a beer fan but i walked into Goose Island last night to try this place out. To my surprise, almost all the beers are brewed in this location. I tried the flight of beers (4 glasses of 7oz) and I kinda like it. We ordered a nice range of light to heavy beer. We started of with Hybrid Moments which i found a bit bitter and then to a classic lager, yuef Rendenmein. My fave is Rye it-actwhich was a darker rye with a lychee after taste. It was smooth and not gaseous. I must say, this place has impressed me and I will definitely return and recommend! Their choice of food was good. It's a pretty cool place for a drink and snack. A huge bar so we didn't have trouble finding a seat. The bartender was awesome - made really helpful beer recommendations. We also had the green goddess wedge salad and pretzels with cheese dip. The food was really good! My only complaint was you couldn't cut the cabbage in the salad or the bacon. Goose Island is, in essence, an extension of the very busy Bier Markt. They are connected and you can order beer from The Bier Markt menu on the Goose Island side. I visited this place on a Saturday night as a result of receiving zero service on the BM side. It is a lot quieter and more enjoyable. I ordered the smoked chicken pesto pizza and shared with a friend as the portion size is decent. The taste was a little strange; I don't think the combination of smoked chicken and pesto is a good one. I also ordered the flourless chocolate cake dessert which comes with Lindt gelato on top. The cake was good. You can tell the cake is flourless and may get tired of the taste by the end of it. My group and I also ordered bier flights, $14 for 4x7oz beers. You get to choose from an okay selection. I, sadly, did not like two out of my four beers. I would recommend the Tawse Dry Cider as well as the Kona Big Wave one. The service on the GI side is pretty friendly, as in, they treat you like a pal. Our initial server literally sat at the table with us while taking our orders which I honestly didn't mind. He was really nice and pleasant to deal with. A female server took over for him halfway through our meal and she, too, was very nice and provided decent service. Overall, I would DEFINITELY recommend you sit on the Goose Island side of this huge place rather than Bier Markt if you're in the area. Just avoid Bier Markt at all costs. Lol. read more

Service was not good during our stay there. We had a group of 8 people but the server didn't really check up on us. We had to keep calling her over. She kept forgetting to refill our waters and my bill even though I asked before everyone else. I ordered their house burger with cheese and it was juicy and meaty. This is a new restaurant that opened up near Esplanade and shares their space with Biermarkt. I went with a group of 8 people on a weekday and it wasn't too busy. Overall, I enjoyed their beer and specialities. The food could have been better, but it's a brewery so you don't expect much anyways. They give you two menus, one from Biermarkt and the other that list their own Goose Island specialties. I ordered the January/February speciality, (I believe it's called the silver smith lager) and the chicken carbonara. The beer was really sweet. The chicken carbonara was a bit bland and the noodles are potato shavings. I also tried their Goose Island speciality (ale) and fruit beer in the Biermarkt section and really liked it. A happy and "hoppy" addition to our little corner of the St Lawrence market world. The servers are on the ball and the food offering is actually shared with the Biermarket. It is a nice extension of Biermarket. But it is warm and relaxed atmosphere with a great patio layout. Had the General Tso cauliflower which is perfectly seasoned and perfect accompaniment to the house brews and the duck wings. This is the perfect spot for summer hangout. Server was super nice, but she could have used some help, even as efficient as she was. Beer (porter) was excellent and there is a good variety to choose from. goose island is a chicago-based brewery known for their rare, limited-release beers. i'm not a big fan of their regular releases (honker's ale, goose IPA), but for some reason i was still somewhat excited to hear about this location's opening. a very inviting wooden-decor brewpub space with tons of brewing equipment scattered throughout. my dumb ass really thought i could get a spot for one at any bar on a friday night (yes, i do this... don't judge me), but luckily goose island was nearby and had a table open right when i got there. packed and loud as hell at that time, which isn't my thing, but i definitely expected it. the waitstaff were very accommodating for this unusual party of one. one of the hosts (didn't get his name) explained that he was going to serve me for a bit since the designated waitress had her hands full, but he was very friendly and thorough with explaining the beer list, and took his time trying to recommend me something. he was even willing to give me a bunch of samples to try some of the stuff out. however i pretty much regret walking in here because, after sampling some of their hoppy offerings, they all seemed so pedestrian. just some really easy-going pale ales and IPAs. there's definitely a market for these kinds of entry-level craft beers, but i'm just not in that market. yes i'm a beer snob. fortunately, they had a left field brewery guest tap that happens to be one of my all-time favourite toronto beers (laser show IPA), so i just opted for a glass of that. if you're looking for a nice bustling bar space and want to dip your feet in the daunting field of craft beer, this is the spot for you. i would still come back to try more of their rotating offerings, i just don't know when that will be read more
