EXCELLENT NY and Brazilian style food...the pizza is a 7.5 on the "One Bite" Barstool Portnoy rating!!!

This place definitely has potential. It was not a bad experience, but it also was not the best compared to other pizza spots in Clermont. We walked in and ordered takeout. The spaghetti and meatballs with marinara was just okay. The marinara had a noticeable sweetness, which was different from a more traditional marinara and not really our preference. The penne alla vodka was very good, but the chicken was disappointing. We ordered grilled chicken, but it did not appear or taste grilled, with no char or grill flavor. The pizza was the highlight for us. It had a thin crust style that we really enjoyed. The garlic knots could use more flavor, either more salt or a stronger garlic and Parmesan presence. Overall, the takeout order was fine, but it did not really stand out compared to other pizza places nearby. Would still try it again and maybe dine in to get the full experience. read more

My daughter had dinner with her friends there today and brought her mom and dad back our dinners. I had the chicken parm dinner over pasta. The meal was plentiful, fresh and hot. The sauce was very tasty, the chicken was cooked perfectly not dried out or chewy or tough. We were very pleased with our take out dinners and will go in person to dine in. read more

Stopped in for an early dinner. Tossed a coin between Chicken Parm and Chicken Franchese. Description was light lemon garlic sauce. It tasted odd, not like lemon or garlic. Chicken was cooked perfectly. Wasn't a fan of spaghetti and was later told I could have asked for my preferred favorite angel hair pasta. Server was friendly and attentive. I must have missed the announcement that the original Goomba's was back. Could it be true? Off to Clermont to find out. The specials looked right. When placing my order it came to the dressing. I asked about the House dressing and was told it was a creamy garlic. I said "like old times?" The waiter flashed a smile. It maybe true!!! Garlic knots arrived first. Fresh garlic on top and a side of the best marinara sauce in town! So far...looking good! The salad was next. For me the true test if the original Goomba's was back. That garlic dressing is the best and well....there it was once again in front of me. The only issue - you can never get enough! The lasagna special came out next. It was all back together. Service was all star! Our server answered all pf.our questions and made suggestions. We never went thirsty and he always had a smile. We went with the Pizza Party special. 3 pizzas and 1 dessert pizza. We chose to try 2 of the Brazilian pizzas both were interesting. The Sao Paulo was like chicken pot pie in a pizza. The boys loved it. The Ravena was like a delicious ham sandwich. The garlic knots and meatballs were so good I was too slow to get a picture. We ordered a large 1 topping pizza and large salad with extra dressing to go. Once our food was ready, we inspected the pizza and noticed it was missing toppings, and the salad did not have the extra dressing we purchased. They nicely added the topping on our pizza and handed us the pizza back and said it's all set now, without reheating it or make it a new one. The pizza was thin, about 1/8" thick- light as air without much flavor. The box weighed more than the pizza in it. The Salad was great though. Overall for the cost, I feel it was overpriced for the quality and lack luster customer service. Everyone who eats here should leave a review so others know what to expect. This feels like one of those throwback neighborhood Italian joints. I discovered it by winning a gift card on a gaming app. Checked it out (complex is a bit hard to find) and it's a great local joint. My pasta caprese had a ton of flavor (even if a tad watery). I could tell the ingredients were fresh and their pizzas smelled and looked legit. If you're in Clermont and looking for a break from all the chains, this is what a local restaurant should be like. This is a great local pizza spot. It was our first time trying it and the place was packed. You can see that all the locals really support this business. Our waiter Nick did a great job! We started with the mozzarella triangles $12.95 with a good marinara sauce. They were crisp & fresh. We were given a couple of garlic knots to try complimentary, which was so nice! Lastly we tried the small Alfredo pizza with chicken and bacon $15.50. Good flavors and a unique pizza choice. I also ordered a cheese calzone $15.95 with pepperoni to go. Went thinking it would likely be just an ok pizza and ordered wings without high expectations but everything was incredible. We ordered the white pizza and the wings with bbq. The pizza was really good and the crust really made it awesome. Crispy, flaky, but still just a bit doughy. The wings had a crispy outside but were perfectly juicy inside and I was happy that the sauce came on the side. The service was super attentive and friendly as well. We will be back for sure. I've been here a couple times over the past 5-6 years and it was just ok. Went last night around 6:15pm for a quick pizza and sangria before a show and the CPAC. Should have been a sign when on a beautiful Saturday March evening there were only two other parties dining. We got a 16" pizza, thin crust, toppings: pepperoni, black olives, mushrooms, ham, onions, green peppers, spinach. The service and speed of delivery was ok, but the pizza was lame tasting and the toppings were miniscule. The ham, onions, green peppers, and olives were like minced and I could not really even see much evidence that they were there, and my wife pointed out the little pieces of each, all I could really taste was the pepperoni and mozzarella cheese. The real kicker was the price: $40 for a 16" pizza! $14.99 base cheese pizza price and $3.50 per topping! Ridiculous! Won't be going back here! Only reason I gave it two stars rather than one was that our server was very polite and courteous. read more

4.5 stars Recently relocated to Clermont. I've been on the search for the best pizza place in town. I've had 5-6 pizzas, each from a different location. All of the pizzas have been good, but Goomba's has been the best I've had in Clermont so far. Next on my list is G's. As for Goomba's- I found it had a good crust. Fresh sauce and toppings. I enjoyed it. Quality pizza. The garlic rolls were a tad on the weak side, but still fluffy/fresh. The side of marina is a must to eat these. I would recommend this location any day. read more

This review is more so for catering and taste testing. My sister is getting married in a couple months and has been looking for a traditional caterer to serve our appetizer needs. We were put in touch with the owner of Goombas, Frank and his staff. They have been nothing but gracious and courteous in listening to everything that my sister has asked for and are always going above and beyond. When we went to Goombas to taste-test the menu we were blown away with not just Frank, but his food as well! You can definitely tell that he lows his job and enjoys making people happy. First thing we got to try was the caprese salad appetizer. They fashioned them onto toothpicks and had a piece of salami on them and they were great. The balsamic vinegar was sweet and the mozzarella was fresh as well. Next thing we had were the garlic knots, again crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside and the garlic seasoning was plentiful. We then had their 1 ounce meatballs... man these things are huge, super tender, and super juicy and full of flavor. Finally we had the bruschetta. He put his own spin on it and it came with a dipping sauce. This allowed us to put as many types of toppings on the bread as needed. I love Goomba's. I have been searching for another great tasting Italian restaurant for years and found it with this place. My test is always the spaghetti with angel hair pasta. It had a great amount of mean and sauce and was super tasty. The salad was amazing along with the garlic knots. The service was quick and staff knowledgeable not always super friendly but on point. The place is small and cute as if feels like it's family run and in New York City. It's been so good that I've been back weekly. Update - my last experience was disappointing. The quality seemed off. I did take out and assumed that it was because it was to go. Learned that ownership turned over recently. So sad. Hopefully the new owners can get their pans seasoned and improve taste. read more

Hidden in a strip mall this place has outstanding service, flavorful food, and an owner taken right out of your favorite Italian mob movie. However, he looks like a guy that wouldn't "take out the trash." What we snagged: -Plenty glasses of the red house wine which was a part of their happy hour ($6) What food we snagged: -No appetizers, but we did get homemade garlic knots. VERY garlicky BUT VERY addicting. -House salad w/ homemade dressed. Get the small! The large is HUGE. -Italian wedding soup. This best. Perfectly salted. Asked the owner for the recipe...wouldn't budge. -Penne Vodka with chicken. Large and in charge portion with a very flavorful sauce. -Chicken and veal dinner. Two slabs of each meat, pounded until tender and served with your choice of spaghetti. Overall, this place is the real deal. Fresh Italian food with a fresh Italian feel. We looooooved everything about eating at Goomba's! Thank you Yelp for guiding me to another five star establishment, I don't know how I'd find any food without you. We were looking for pizza on our way home from a trip to Alexander Springs, and Goomba's popped up. It looks super dark on the outside because the windows are so tinted, which leads to little light getting into the restaurant and a calm, cool environment. We were greeted and seated quickly - it wasn't busy at all in late afternoon on a Sunday. Our soft drinks (Coke & Diet Coke) came with cute pitchers for refills, which lasted us the entire meal. I loved that a lot. We got the cheesy garlic rolls for an appetizer which were good - not the best we've ever had but cheesy and easy to tear apart. Needed a little more garlic. For our meals, my fiancé got the large supreme calzone and when they say large, they really mean it. His calzone was huge! As it should have been for $20, so he was happy and will be able to get three meals out of it. He said it tasted amazing, 9.5/10. Goombas is not Goomba's unless they take their rightful place back on 50 with the smiles and love and family feeling it used to have, compared to their original location which is metal and cold. That being said, the food doesn't disappoint. I don't like the more limited menu as per previous reviews. Bring back the escargot and what happened to the gnocchi? Mama Rita's has the lock on both. Went here for lunch and ordered a medium pizza and a side of garlic rolls (6). Pizza: pizza came out fast and was hot and steamy. Medium pizza is 8 slices and I was only able to eat 3. The dough was nice and fluffy and the cheese was melted perfectly. The cheese had that gooey greasy taste that I actually like. 5/5 for pizza. Garlic knots: I was actually looking forward to having some nice soft garlic knots. I chose this place out of random because I was in the mood for nice soft garlic rolls. Upon getting my garlic rolls I was extremely disappointed in public roads Ashley had were somewhat cold and really non pleasing. The garlic that they used on the garlic knots was perfect and the side of tomato sauce that was nice and hot made up for the fact that the garlic knots were cold. If I come again I will probably not get the garlic knots. 3/5 for garlic knots. I sat inside and was eating at the first table closest to the kitchen. All throughout my lunch I could see and hear the manager in the corner talk to his employees. He might've been the owner but he was talking to his employees about stuff that shouldn't be talked about in your restaurant. Nothing bad he was just talking about payroll situation and various other topics that weren't extremely loud in the restaurant but still I could overhear the whole conversation. Something else that I realize was that for a restaurant of this size which is pretty small there had to be at least 20 to 25 tables they have a lot of staff. During my time which was slightly after the lunch shower rush there were several times where I could see several workers just stand in the corner and not doing anything. I understand you want to half past service but I counted and there was over 25 staff members in the building including cooks. To me that's a lot of staff members for a Saturday. Overall I get this place a 7 out of 10 I don't know if I would come back but the food was pretty good for what I wanted. read more

So many choices here that it was hard to decide. Started with the fried mushrooms and they were delicious. We asked for some ranch to go with it since I am not a horseradish sauce fan. I then decided to do the chicken Florentine Goomboli. It was hot and had a good amount of chicken, spinach, and cheese in it. After I got it I thought it would be better with an Alfredo dipping sauce instead of marinara sauce. I didn't ask for it, but am sure they would have brought it. I'll know for next time. The server was friendly and attentive. I enjoyed her recommendations and she checked on us often without being too overbearing. They also sell some NY coookies there. Very delicious pizza. Crust taste fresh, sauce mild tang. I had the jalapeños, black olives, mushrooms and cheese pizza. They have two larges we got the 16 inch which is the size of an average large. It's all very fresh. We also go cheese by the slice. They have a special where you can get two slices of cheese and a drink for $6.00 all day every day. The undercarriage is good but I should have gotten well done. The pizza over all I would rate a 8.2 out of 10. I am a very hard scorer so this is an excellent score. I already knew I'd like this place when I called to place an order and asked for the XL 18' inch and was quickly told their XL was 20'....ordered two huge pie's for a great price. Definitely a crowd pleaser for my large family who kept asking "where did you get this from!?!?".
