We visited AJ's for the first time and had an excellent experience. The dining room floor is covered in photos of famous people and/or movie scenes with pizzas inserted, so that was a pretty awesome welcome as we were being led to our table. (For example, a pizza smashing through the door Shining-style on poor Shelley Duvall.) The menu consists of New York style, Detroit style, and Sicilian style pizzas, among a variety of other entree offerings. There aren't any personal size pizzas, just what I'd consider medium (14") and large (18"). My partner and I couldn't agree on toppings, but thankfully AJ's lets you do half and half pizza, as long as they are the same type of pizza (i.e., New York). On my half, I ordered the Supreme New Yorker -- hot calabrese, spicy Italian sausage, classic pepperoni, extra creamy ricotta. What attracted me most to it was the sausage, ricotta, and spiciness. My partner ordered the Tropical Reeves -- pineapple, thick-cut smoked bacon, drizzled with vanilla honey. Mine had more expensive toppings, but we only had to pay 1/2 of each type of pizza we ordered, not the highest price one, so that was a welcome surprise when the bill came. It'll definitely encourage us to come back. The pizza was delicious, and the crust was pretty tasty, too. There's also red pepper flakes, garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese on the table, and you can ask for oregano as well, to enhance the already great flavor. Service was excellent, too, so I don't really have anything negative to say about our first (and certainly not last) visit to AJ's. read more

This was a random place I found on yelp! lol the pizza looked good so I figured why not. We were seated immediately despite Saturday traffic. I went to wash my hands and what do you know a literal disco party on their bathroom lol, needless to say I spent some time just dancing to the music in there. There's a button on the wall you press and it keeps playing oldies like "fever night" with to disco lights lol. It was cool. Ok the pizza, they don't sell by slices only entire pie, Got half cheese half pepperoni . The pizza was crispy, cheesy and had the oil dripping down. YUMMmMmy! I was offered ranch but didn't know I'd be charged for it until after the bill came so that was a downside of things. Anyways food was good I'd return again. read more

I went back to AJ's on Saturday and sat at the bar. Lauren is THEE BEST. She was helpful and patient with my indecisive questions about which pizza to try. I love my go to pizzas, but I wanted to try something different. I was torn between the White Vesuvio and the Mount Garden Veggie. She suggested I make the pizza 1/2 and 1/2. I took her advice and asked for a drizzle of hot honey on top as well. The pizza was DELICIOUS. AJ's never fails! I also asked her to concoct a mocktail of her choice that was tasty and she made a delicious drink as well and i cannot wait to go back and ask her to make me another one! The restaurant is always clean, the service is always good and the food is even better. I will be back soon. read more

Just a heads up that this isn't your typical pizza shop and it's more of a restaurant-style serving. No individual slices here. It's super clean with a bar and oven area along with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. Service was super quick keeping us topped off on drinks and when the pizza came it was really good. It was a bit more crispy than I prefer, but the taste was still really good. The other star in this place is definitely the bathroom. There's a big red button on the wall that says "press to party" and disco balls kick on along with disco music to jam to while you take care business. Really fun. I'd visit again with a plan and knowing better now. read more

Somewhat disappointing lunch experience. Small location with available take-out and several tables to eat-in. Stopped in to get some slices, waited for someone to come take our order, staff then appeared annoyed when we asked a couple questions about lunch special options. No one offered to refill drinks. The thin slices were good, flavorful, with quality ingredients and decent value. We also tried one square/thicker slices that was not great - very dry, needed significantly more sauce and had no flavor. Would stick with thin slices. Parking was available in near-by garage or right in front street parking. We were visiting from out of town for theme parks, didn't feel that it was worth going out of way again, but may have been an off day. read more

Tried AJ's Pizza in Winter Garden i love the location! I already can't wait to go back. We got the Roni pizza drizzled with hot honey and WOW the sweet/spicy combo was so good and balanced perfectly with the pepperoni. But I have to be honest... the real star for me was the Caesar salad Fresh, crisp, flavorful, and one of those salads you randomly think about later lol. Everything tasted fresh and well made. Definitely worth checking out! read more

OBSESSED with this spot! My husband who is a PA native says this is the best pizza he's had in Florida. We had done takeout previously and it was just as good. The ambiance inside is fantastic. Some of the best pizza I've had so far in central FL. The Detroit style was incredible. Don' t get me started on the sauce, wow! The NJ tomato pie was outstanding as well. The ambience / vibe was on point. Very cool and well thought out details. Service was great, the place is a bit narrow so it can get busy. Here to rave about AJ's again! I've visited a few more times since their opening, and I've been impressed with their New York style pizza, their thick Detroit style pizza, and their apps! This visit I came to try their seasonal menu items and enjoy the Halloween decor - I love when a restaurant gets into the season! We started with their classic garlic knots, which always hit the spot. I tried the resting witch spritz cocktail from their seasonal menu, and it was delicious! It basically tasted like a fall aperol spritz, and it was perfect for the season. We did the sweet heat pizza from the seasonal menu as well, and the combo of jalepenos with the sausage and pineapple was the right amount of heat and flavor! Really different and really well done. I can't wait for my next visit! read more

Honestly such an awesome addition to the Winter Garden downtown area. It's very casual no frill open kitchen concept so you can see them cooking everything and how clean everything is! There is one bar area that you sit in front of TVs so you can watch sports and another bar area that you're sitting right across from the kitchen. There are several tables inside and a few outside. It is a smaller place so it gets super busy even for a Wednesday night when we went, The food come out timely (not super fast or slow) for how busy it was. If you're indecisive, you can put two flavors on one pizza! They are different styles of pizzas. I believe Detroit is their popular style here. Overall, highly recommend checking them out! It's a great new spot. I honestly have nothing to complain. The staff were friendly. The space was nice and clean. The food was amazing. That drinks were great. So go check them out! read more

AJ's Pizza Joint might be my new favorite pizza spot! The selection of pizza and other food items is amazing and you can eat in, carryout or get delivery... but please eat in because the ambiance here is so fun and lively. There is so much to see on the walls, on the floors, even in the bathroom! Yes, i said bathroom. It's an experience trust me haha. Staff are amazing but THE PIZZA is beyond words. This place was super accommodating on a Saturday night for a party of 8. We ordered 4 pizzas and they all came out around the same time. The Detroit style was a bit cakey but the crust made up for it. My favorite was the hot honey regular pizza. It had just the right amount of spicy-ness. I think if I was to redo this meal I wouldn't have ordered garlic knots. They weren't not very soft and kind of an after thought. It's very loud inside and kind of crowded with space. The service was great. 4.6/5 read more

Nothing but rave reviews for this place! The Winter Garden Farmers Market brought me to the area on a Saturday morning. For lunch I knew I wanted to try this place after seeing so many posts on Instagram. While there were people waiting outside, however you can sit at the bar and there were several seats available. The bartender greeted us right away and provided us with menus and water. I ordered a Hugo Spritz which was so refreshing on this hot day. We placed an order for AJ's Garlic *Nots and Tropical Reeves pizza. The *Nots and pizza came out quickly. The food was phenomenal. The nots were paired with the best tasting marinara sauce. The pizza had the most perfectly cooked crispy crust and I loved the combination of flavors of pineapple, bacon, and vanilla honey. The pizza was large and with 2 of us eating, we still had slices to take to-go. I really appreciate when owners/managers walk around greeting customers and checking in on them. This made us feel so welcomed. It wouldn't be a review here if I didn't mention that the bathroom is an actual party! Lights, music, and vibes. You have to experience it. The restaurant in general was very clean and I loved the decor. I will be back! read more

2nd visit review. Now about 6 months after their opening, I came back to try AJ pizza again. This visit there were a few great things and some opportunities. We tried the New York pizza which came in a decent amount of time and super hot. We had the John pizza which is pepperoni and olive oil. It was flavorful with heavy on the amount of pepperoni which we removed most of them. The opportunity was the wait time. We were given a 45 minute estimate but when we were sat 40 minutes later,50% of the dining room was open so it appears we could have been sat earlier in a different section. In other words, the two of us could have been sat at a slightly bigger table but we waited instead. Service was friendly, helpful and made us feel welcome. read more

This place is incredible all the way around. I have been here twice with my husband and both times we sat at the bar. The bartender greeted us promptly and made recommendations for us to consider. Even though they don't have a liquor license they carry wine based liquor which allows them to make some FANTASTIC cocktails. Do yourself a favor and order the garlic knots!! Super fluffy and garlicky. We had our first Detroit style pizza here and the cheesy thick crust was OUTSTANDING. I can not wait to go back read more

Pizza was pretty good. Flavor and texture of ingredients were spot on. We didn't really like our waitress passion for serving , but we were relieved when the managers came over to ask. How is everything. Other than that I would come back and try more of their pizza options. Cauliflower crust is available, but only at a certain size. The garlic knots were everything Crispy cheesy and freshly made. The aesthetics and decor is so much fun to take pictures with as well. They were a bit salty but the sauce was great!! It left me eager for my pizza. We ordered the Thor, a Detroit style pizza with sausage and pepperoni. My wife and daughter ordered the Lombardi which is a cheese New York style pizza. The Thor comes out with the (expected) caramelized crust on the edges and is on a focaccia type bread. We have been itching to try this brand new restaurant that is in our home town, Winter Garden. AJ's is your best stop for local pizza. It is so much better than the chain restaurants and we honestly cant wait to get back here again to try more. This is a newer restaurant to the downtown Winter Garden area. It is very close to Plant Street Market and has been opened for a few months. It is a very small restaurant with a few tables outside, a few inside and then bar seating inside. We went on a Friday night but tried to get there early to beat the crowds. Wrong! When we arrived, the hostess told us it would be about 20 minutes. We looked over the menu and walked around for a bit. They text you when your table is ready. It also was extremely hot, and there are no waiting areas inside. Our wait was very close to the time told to us. Once seated, we were given a table inside very close to the door and along the window. The first thing I noticed is how hot it was inside. Like insanely hot, to the point of uncomfortable. I think with all the pizza ovens going, it being so hot outside, the door opening and closing, it was just really hard for the AC to keep up. The restaurant is narrow and long. I did notice toward the back of the restaurant it was a little cooler but not much. They also have to go orders, and our table was right next to where the to go orders are picked up. This was also a little frustrating since they were so busy, there were always at least 3-6 people waiting for their orders, standing right next to our table. It was hard to really enjoy our meal with someone standing over me. Although, this is more of a politeness issue with people but I do think the table we were sat at, should just be removed and turned into a waiting area. The floor has a vast variety of movie posters and people/actors with pizza. I loved looking at all the different pictures. They had some really great music playing as well. Our server came over very quickly, and we knew what we wanted since we had to wait. We decided to start with AJ's Garlic Nots (Garlic oil, Grana Padano parmesan, served with marinara). These were so good, I literally could have eaten a ton of these. They were crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. There was a good amount of parmesan and the garlic was flavorful was just right, not to overpowering. We also ordered the Meatball Trio (Beef, pork and veal, with mozza and fresh basil) These came with 3 meatballs and were beyond fantastic. They were moist, very tasty, hot and really delicious. Both of these appetizers I would and probably will every single time we visit. For cocktails, I ordered the Peach Bellini and the Florida Grown (Prosecco, strawberry, grapefruit, orange cordial) Both of these were really good, they were on the smaller side but they were only $10. I would have liked them to be a little colder as well. My husband ordered the Hot Topic (Grilled pineapple, sake, jalapeño, fresh pressed lime, agave, tajín) as well as a Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing IPA. He loved the Hot Topic especially the grilled pineapple and jalapeno. For entrees, we wanted a pizza. There are so many options but since we had 2 appetizers we decided to share a large pizza. We couldn't really decide and both of us wanted something different but luckily our lovely server let us know that we can do a half and half as long as the pizzas were in the same categories. We went with a NY Style pizza and chose half Uncle Roni (Loaded with cupped pepperoni) and the other half as a Supreme New Yorker (Hot calabrese, spicy Italian sausage, classic pepperoni, extra creamy ricotta). These were so good!!! We chose wisely! The cupped pepperoni were crispy and little spicy. They add a touch of garlic oil to the pizza as well and it just finished the pizza really well. I cant wait to get back and try more of the pizzas especially the margarita pizza. You also need to visit the bathroom. First it is all gold and there is a red button. If you push the red button on the wall, music and a disco ball will start playing. Its so fun! Party in the bathroom. I definitely recommend checking it out when you visit. Overall, I cant say enough positive things. There were a couple of hiccups with the AC but I would still come back. Their food is delicious! You need to add this to your list to visit! read more

Indoor & Outdoor lively ambiance Pizza restaurant in the heart of Main Street. We ordered the garlic knots for appetizers, bread roll type, with very good red sauce. I'm not sure how they have so many positive reviews, maybe they are paying people or bots. This is truly the worst restaurant I've had in years. The meatballs were very small, flavorless and didn't even have the texture of meat. I seriously wondered if they were actual meat or if they used one of those fake vegan meats because that was definitely the texture and flavor it was giving. The "garlic knots" (heavy emphasis on the air quotes) are just 2 freezer roles torn in half, baked and then sprayed with oil. The pizza was burnt black. And not in a brick oven way. Just severely neglected by whoever was making it. read more

Went their first week after the soft opening. We really enjoyed our lunch at the newest addition to Winter Garden, AJ's Pizza Joint (located across the street from Thai Blossom). We did a traditional pepperoni and a build your own white sauce with prosciutto and chili roasted pineapple (don't come at me for the pineapple please ). Everything was delicious. Our bartender, Kara was fantastic and we loved the decor. The bathroom was the funniest part! We met one of the owners AJ and he was a very nice man. Smaller place so may be hard to get a seat. One of the hostesses was on the ruder side but the other two were sweet. 4/5 out of all! We are happy to have a new place to eat at! It is a little pricy but it's worth it. read more

We happened to walk by AJ's while looking for a place to have dinner and they were having their Family & Friends soft opening and had space at the pizza counter for us! It was actually a great place to sit as we were able to see all the food coming out of the kitchen. We were very impressed with the finishing touches that were put on each item. For example, for the NY pies, they get a swipe of garlic oil around the crust and FRESHLY grated Parmesan cheese. The Detroit pizzas get finished with the signature lines of tomato sauce and then the grated cheese. We started with a couple of cocktails - Bellini and Hugo Spritz. Both were made with Prosecco as they only serve wine based drinks (Prosecco, sake, etc) in addition to beer and wine. My Hugo Spritz had Prosecco, elderflower and mint and was very refreshing. Next we got mozzarella Caprese and it was delicious with nice toppings of tomato, basil, and olive oil. For our pizza, we chose the Veggie Detroit style pizza, which has roasted tomatoes as the only veggie. I had never had Detroit style pizza but it's like a cross between a Sicilian, with the thick square crust and Chicago, with the sauce on top. It was fantastic and very filling. We saw quite a few NY pies pass by us, with lightly charred crusts and definitely want to come back to try those. Service was great, too, and very friendly. And the prices were really reasonable, so we will be back after their official opening. I'm glad Downtown Winter Garden has a pizza place again. read more
