I came home today to find that a corner of my yard had been dug up and opened for what I understand…read moreis a UTOPIA installation. What concerns me is that no one contacted me beforehand, left a notice, knocked on my door, or otherwise informed me that work would be taking place on my property frontage. I had seen crews working across the street to provide service to new neighbors, but I had no idea that work would also affect my yard. When I spoke with the workers, I was told this is the only access box on the street and that if additional neighbors request UTOPIA service in the future, similar work may need to be done again. In addition, the work area has obstructed access along the sidewalk. We have small children in the neighborhood who regularly ride their bikes, scooters, and play along this route. Today, the excavation and equipment created an unexpected obstacle and safety concern for children and pedestrians using the sidewalk. As a homeowner, I believe residents deserve advance notification when construction or excavation will impact their property, even if it is within a utility easement. A simple notice would have allowed neighbors to plan accordingly and be aware of any temporary disruptions or safety concerns. I would appreciate an explanation of the notification process, what steps will be taken to restore the area, and whether residents can expect additional disruptions in the future if other homeowners request UTOPIA service. In addition to the pictures from this afternoon... I have posted a picture of what utopia could do in the future to protect homeowners and children and community people from getting hurt Thank you for your attention to this matter.

As an electrician I just can't for the life of me figure out why that would ever be a good idea. There was sewage leaking through every faucet, drain and toilet.. spraying up onto the air!! This wasn't just her sewer main but also their client's! So apparently their practices are most likely shady and against code. (Classic lazy Utahn business tactics.) My mom had to go stay in a hotel which she couldn't work in due to needing her Internet at home to work. She lost days of work, sleep and had the stress of her house being covered in sewage! I'd say literally go with anything else.

I was having trouble with getting my elderly V.A uncle used to where his channels were at (we get so many more than DISH! and channels we actually watch). I lost my paperwork and couldn't find the number for NewStar and just searched for the DirecTv number online. I called into DiredTv wanting some help with figuring out what to do and I could barely understand the agent on the line (language barrier) and they basically said they would have to send a technician out to me and it would cost me $40-$99. I declined, because I just don't have the money for that. Thought I was just stuck and very dissapointed. One week later I got a follow up call from NewStar just to see how I was liking my New DirecTv sytem. Let me say I am pretty embarrassed at how I treated the young lady on the phone. I vented and was very upset and she didn't interrupt me even once! She listen ACTUALLY LISTENED. Then she fixed it all right over the phone, I didn't even need a technician and that saved me time and money right there! She went through step by step with my uncle of making a favorites list and with the protection plan I had got from them they were able to send me out a remote that fit my uncles needs even better, for free ($15 plus shipping if I didn't have that protection plan). Remote got to us in 2 days and they had already setup a favorites list with my uncle and he was happier than he had ever been in his 80 years of different tv services (he is now deceased). I wish I had the name of that young lady and I hope she sees this review. To that agent if you do see this review I want to thank you and apologize again for how poorly I treated you on the phone. The main thing I have learned through this experience is to go through a authorized dealer for anything I can! Even when I didn't know it they had my back, THANK YOU New Star!!!!!

An update to my 11/24/2014 1-star review of Digis:…read more Approximately one week after I posted the November 24th review, a representative from Digis' phone center called me regarding the problem I described in the review. She left a gracious, apologetic message saying that she and the phone center's manager were concerned about my situation. Over a weeks' time she called every day or two and left messages equally as conciliatory and apologetic. I talked with her yesterday and had a mostly satisfying conversation with her. I'm updating my review from a 1-star to a 3-star based on the following: 1) I finally got the apology I wanted. It matters less who did what and why; the most powerful peace offering is a simple, genuine "I'm sorry". 2) She offered more regret than excuses. Although, she did say that the billing clerk may have been concerned about losing her job...as if that was an appropriate excuse for hanging up on me. An employee with her "skills" should be concerned about losing her job. 3) I was offered a free month of service. The woman who called me was in a rough spot. Converting a furious customer to a happy one is a tough row to hoe! She did a great job apologizing, expressing empathy, explaining that the billing clerk(s) would receive training (nice touch!), and then offering a free month. Definitely a customer service win in my book. And then a really interesting thing happened: I was offered a couple skiing passes to update my Yelp review. Now...before you write me off as a sellout, or point out that I finally heard from Digis ONLY after my negative Yelp review, let me tell you why I feel even more comfortable about staying with Digis. I admire (and I'm a little difficult to please) the strategy of monitoring Yelp for feedback, the tenacity of the woman who called me a dozen times over a week and the offers of empathy combined with free service. In my mind, Digis has taken seriously the fact that they have a customer-service problem and they are focusing on improving. I'm comfortable revising their rating to a 3-star A-OK. Finally, I'll disclose the fact that I don't ski, so the passes wouldn't have been enough to sway my decision to update my review. The passes won't go to waste, though, as my partner and his son will enjoy, and appreciate, a day on the slopes courtesy of Digis.

Note also - that Vivint is a premium home security. I've had Vivint service now for about 5 years. I pay about $40 for the monthly service and about $55 with our second home (service and financed device together) that is all inclusive of their 24/7 monitoring and free customer support including tech. This does not however, include their devices. That is separate. You can either buy them out right, or Vivint will finance for you at zero interest with qualifying credit. Their devices are not cheap and as I noted they are a premium home security, but they are reliable. I love their smart hub. It's easy to operate, fully touch screen and very little learning curve. Even my Mom and Dad had no issues using it including their smart app on their phone and tablet. Just a heads up, Vivint does require a minimum of 5 year contract. After that, you will be on a month-to-month. For some, this might be a deal breaker. However, if there's one thing I can honestly say about Vivint, they really do have excellent customer service support. It's like having a white glove service. Whenever I have a problem, I just call their customer service or tech support, and I get someone right away with very little wait. They are very responsive. Just this week, I had a tech come out and serviced my outdoor camera. There's one downside, they recently changed (as of April 2023) their home tech visit policy which used to be complimentary as long as it is Vivint owned devices. Now it's either pay a $99 per visit, or pay an extra $10 a month insurance fee which will include free, unlimited tech visits. So now you're going to pay somewhere around $50 a month or more or about $600+ a year. That comes out to about $1.65 a day or less than a cup of small coffee at Starbucks. I understand with so many options of DIY and lower monthly monitoring fees and some comes free, why did I go with Vivint? It's hard to put a price on peace of mind, but for me and my family, I chose Vivint for the hassle free knowing they have our backs 24/7. I also didn't want to deal with having to install devices on my own and prefer the knowledge of their expert technicians. At the end of the day, Vivint is not perfect but they do come close to it from my years of service with them. Best of all, I get a discount from my homeowner insurance by having their service. I hope this helps you. Cheers!

I stopped by at around 2:00 P.M. and it was busy. I was promptly greeted, explained that I was in the market for a new plan, and was put in the queue but never told how long I could expect to wait. After about 20 minutes, I told the gentleman who greeted me that I needed to get back to work but would return later than night. When I returned, the store had settled down and I was promptly greeted by a salesman and asked questions. I explained my current family plan, our needs going forward, and asked for options. The salesmen quoted me something like $190 for 4 lines, unlimited phone and data. I showed him an offer from T-Mobile but he wouldn't match it or offer anything to compensate. The phones were even more expensive. He tried to tell me that by charging more Verizon could put that money back into improving its network (as if). He wouldn't even waive the activation fees, which T-Mobile would also do. Verizon just didn't offer any compelling reason to sign up, which is fine. The real reason for my low review is because in the middle of our conversation, another Verizon employee interrupted us and asked the salesman helping me various questions on behalf of his customer. My salesman was pulled away for a few minutes to help this other customer. I found this to be a bit rude and inconsiderate of my time.
