I would not trust Goodyear for anything. Not this specific location but, if they allow it at one they allow it at others. So much for Goodyear's good reputation. Our local service center screwed up. They failed to diagnose a basic problem. Damaged the car and commit fraud when they did not tell me and tried to cover up their screw up. Now they will not refund my money and pay for new parts. So, what Goodyear committed fraud and now they want me to accept discount repair. Even after they acknowledge the fraud (failure to notify the damage they tried covering up). read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. Despite this being the email I received, when I called to see if I could come in any earlier, I discovered I "did not have an appointment." Then I learned that the online booking for Goodyear is apparently "not connected at all" to their actual appointments and work that day. For God's sake I booked a diagnostic appointment, the term on their website, and the man on the phone asked me "what am I diagnosing." I felt like I was going crazy. Over the Memorial Day weekend, while on a trip to Ithaca with my Tesla Model 3, I encountered a sudden vibration issue. Fearing a lost wheel weight, I was relieved to find out that the Goodyear Auto Center was open on the holiday. Once I arrived, the technicians at Goodyear quickly determined that the foam lining inside the tire had de-laminated and had bunched up, causing an imbalance in the tire. They removed the foam lining, re-balanced the tire, and everything was back to normal and we were able to make the drive back to NYC later that day. The staff was friendly, courteous, and took the time to explain the problem and the steps taken to fix it. Thanks for saving our trip! read more

Went in for new tires, oil change, and inspection and left with a $2800 gouge on the passenger side of my vehicle right down to the bare metal greasy handprints all over my car tire mounting grease smeared all over every rim on the car returned to Goodyear to complain my complaints fell on deaf ears. They refused to pay for the damages. I will never go there again or recommend them to anyone..!!! read more

A close friend recently used this shop while she was traveling. The service was good, and the people were friendly, however, they took advantage of the situation and overcharged her. I'm guessing the owner will give a "I'm sorry you feel that way" reply to this review, but it's an impersonal and inadequate response. She was charged $1,200 dollars to install a reconditioned (not new) alternator and battery. It's really infuriating, and there's probably a lot of ways you can spin it to justify that cost, but it's not okay. It's places like this that seem trustworthy from the reviews, but ultimately still operate in a dishonest and opportunistic way when you're a women traveling alone. Goodyear on Elmira Rd. Was amazing. I live In Maryland and was visiting Ithaca. Upon arrival I discovered my under car heat shield was not bolted back into place by the mechanic that did my oil change in Maryland. Despite Goodyear staff telling me they were packed busy, after I explained I was in a huge pinch because I have to drive back to MD the next day they squeezed my car into their packed day. They really didn't have to do it. The staff were amazing. They listen to be vent and went out of their way to fix my car in a matter of just three hours! DANGER!!! Brought my car in for a clutch fix, they charged over $1500 on random tires, lights etc. and of course didn't fix the clutch issue. Next thing I know I'm on the highway, my car loses power at 70 mph due to the original clutch issue and I had to coast to safety dodging traffic!!!! UPDATE: My daughter just took her vehicle to another place because my husband told her to get a second opinion... they passed her vehicle for inspection AND gave her a print out of any recalls her vehicle might have. Nice to know that there are places out there NOT TRYING TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUNG GIRLS!! WARNING TO PARENTS OF COLLEGE GIRLS!!! I have to say that I am disgusted with this place. They blatantly took advantage of my daughter. She is a student at a college near there and took her car there for an inspection. Everything seemed to be fine with her vehicle but they told her that her parking break was "sticking". So after charging her $21 they send her on her way with no inspection. She lets my husband know what they said and he says well that's weird it seemed fine to me but ok who knows. So he called Goodyear and asked them how much it will be to fix the problem and have her vehicle inspected. They told him $64. So my daughter makes a follow-up appointment, takes her car there oh and guess what??!!! They tell her it will now be $700 to fix the parking brake after they told my husband it would be $64????? This is not an honest business. My wife and our five year old daughter took our 2004 Outback in to get a NY state inspection. We had forgotten and were overdue. They said that the serpentine belt was falling out and failed us. They wanted $115 and said that would pass us today. Fortunately my wife felt like something was fishy (first guy said cracked, second guy said falling out) did not agree to do the service. Three months ago we had recently paid to have our belt replaced at another shop. At first I gave Goodyear the benefit of the doubt. When we had the belt replaced we also had a lot of other work done, and were under a tight deadline. Perhaps the other shop accidentally neglected that repair? No. A visual inspection showed that this was definitely not the case. The belt was in pristine condition. I went back the next day and had them reinspect the car. It passed. I then brought the manager out to the car, showed him the belt and showed him his estimate from the previous day saying that the belt was "falling out". He brought his team out including the tech who had previously inspected the car. Each of them played dumb making statements similar to "I don't know what happened", "It did not look like that yesterday", "Maybe we made a mistake, maybe not". Their response was totally non-apologetic and unsatisfactory. This was not a mistake. No one could look at that belt and think it needed replaced let alone warrant a failure of inspection. In this instance we were fortunate in that we only had to pay the $10 re-inspection fee, but I do plan to follow up with the district manager and potentially NY state DMV. It sickens and angers me that there are businesses out there that try to take advantage of women with children by lying to them about services that they do not need. This is one of those businesses. I have to admit, with the reviews I was a little nervous to come here, but after a $50 ticket for an expired emissions test I was desperate. Do not read the other reviews, this place is beyond awesome. First off Mark, the store manager, was extremely helpful and got us in first thing! There were about 4 other customers in front of me and all left really happy! Our car passed the emissions test and I did not feel like they tried to upsell me on anything! Gave me a heads up on my rear breaks but no pressure! Also gave some recommendations for hikes around the area (we are from out of town!) If I lived in Ithaca this would be my go to mechanic for all my vehicle needs!! read more

Mark the manager is great, and I always get a fair deal here on tires and tire work. I was sold some tires in 2011 that turned out to be the wrong size, and when I called them about it 2 years later, they apologized and offered to sell me snow tires at wholesale ($100+ off). They put in their system, and although I wasn't back in Ithaca for another 6 years, they honored their word (Mark even remembered me!) and I got not only cheap snow tires, but free installation due to a promotion that day. Last week I returned to put on my reg tires, and though my alignment seemed off after driving away, they agreed to get me back in and check it out free of charge. Ps. **deal alert: If you buy your snow tires here, it's $15/tire cheaper than other nearby garages for installation and changing back. read more

Customer service was phenomenal. Peter, the manager, is a rare find in the auto repair industry -- a personable, reasonable man with a gift for connecting to his customers and staff. This all became apparent as i waited a few hours in the clean, accommodating waiting area while the mechanics replaced two snow tires. Turned out there were other problems with my alignment. Peter and his team had to order parts and work on the problem for several days, but they stayed with it till everything was as good as new, and they took responsibility for not having noticed these issues at first glance. *Do NOT make an appointment online* Made an appointment for an oil change online around 9:30 in the morning for 2:30 in the afternoon on a Friday without a problem. Arrived for my appointment and they had not checked the system all day and therefore had overbooked that hour long slot. I ended up spending 3 hours of my afternoon waiting for an oil change that should take an hour or less. Nonetheless all the people working there were very friendly, and a full synthetic oil change was a reasonable $65. Next time maybe I'll call in an appointment, or find somewhere else with a better online scheduling system. read more

I had an awful experience here. If there was a zero rating, I would chose it for this "service center". After driving on a highway and hitting a pothole, I got a flat tire and was forced to choose a repair shop. Asked them to inspect the car for damages. They "inspected it" and then sold me four new tires, missing the fact that my front right wheel had a crack large enough to put my fingers through. They subsequently took five hours longer than they said it would and then sent me out onto the road only to have a flat tire several miles later. When called them to report the problem they told me I must have hit a nail or have a new slow stem leak. They then sent me to another Goodyear repair store that was no longer in business. Then suggested another one which, when I called, they told me they were closing and couldn't help me. I was forced to drive several hundred miles under speed, and putting air into tire every 25 miles until got car home to my dealer. I cannot recommend this business due to their negligence and irresponsible behavior. read more

I got my car repaired here the other day. They were the only place I could find open after noon on Christmas Eve in all of Ithaca. The guy at the counter was very competent and cordial. The service they did seems good, but one thing still puzzles me: I never had battery problems before, but they said they had to replace my car's battery because it was completely dead. They seemed trustworthy though, and the price was similar to other places (expensive no matter where you go). Worth a try if your car is broken, but there's probably better places out there. read more

I took my car there because they were open on Sunday and I needed to drive that day, and I had a deflated tire. I went in for a tire repair. I was informed that my tire is not repairable, and that I needed to get a new set of 4 tires. I agreed, and it cost me $660 to do all of this. I had to wait about 3 hours as they chatted with another patron about selling them a car. No problem, I just wanted my car fixed. So I wait. At the end, I am informed that everything is done, and that the car died while it was in the shop and they needed to jump-start it. No problem, I pay my fee and go the my car. Literally after a minute of driving away, I notice that the SRS airbag light is on. I had no time and had to drive out of town. So I came back Tuesday, and told them. The manager was there, and he immediately told me it wasn't their fault, and that it was a coincidence. Now, I am aware that a simple tire change shouldn't have affected the SRS, but I simply cannot believe that such a coincidence can take place. It is, in my opinion, far more likely that something went wrong due to some mistake they made. They flat out refused to even make a compromise, or to even check for what may have been wrong with the SRS. They did not care about my dissatisfaction, and the manager was more than happy to give me the number where I an file a complaint. I took the car to a Honda dealer. They checked the problem and found that the SRS Unit has to be changed. I asked them if this could have been caused by what they did, they said that anything it possible, but they doubt it. Regardless, as a customer, and as someone who understands probability, I simply refuse to believe that a fault appears out of nowhere right after a mechanic works on my car, doing who knows what. Nobody can prove to me, or to themselves, that the particular mechanic did everything by the book and made no mistakes, since no one was watching. Perhaps he didn't jump start it right..Perhaps the equipment he used to jump-start it has some fault and created electrical shock and blew out the unit. Now I have to pay another $600 to fix this problem, that is most likely caused by what they did, and I won't be able to prove it. What's important is that, they did not entertain the possibility that they caused this, and refused to have anything to do with it. If customer satisfaction is important to you, you don't simply dismiss your customer. You offer them a help, you offer to check out the problem, to see if it could be something you caused. Even if you can prove you did everything right, at least offer to pay some of the cost, even a small symbolic token. They were so far away from that, that my dissatisfaction caused me to write this review. read more

This store was a rip-off! They seemed to be the only center available along route 13 offering diagnostic services for the service engine soon light. I sent my car to them early in the morning (~8am), hoping to get some sort of positive news about it. Though they promised to contact me when they were able to get a clearer picture of the car, it took me to call them again at 5pm to realise that they couldn't do anything as they were not able to do body-related work! The frustration was only fuelled by the fact that they put me on hold for more than 15 mins, while handling another customer at the desk. This poor management does not justify the price premium (almost $100 for a diagnostic service) at this center! Bringing this report to another garage, the staff there informed me that the report was a vague generic report, without any details on it for any fruitful work to be done based on this report! Hence, my advice to all drivers, especially newbies to Ithaca or Cornell, is to avoid this center at all costs! There are places which offer more comprehensive services at lower costs! read more
