The place was clean and the people were very friendly. They had some interesting furniture items so I would definitely go back there once I get a place if I'm looking for something unique.

AS A CONSIGNOR: If you are planning to sell your items here, READ THIS FIRST. I think I've figured out this places business model. When you sell your items at Michael's, 1) you have to take pictures of the items, 2) they decide if they want to sell the items, 3) then you have to sign a contract, 4) then they will accept the item to sell. THE CONTRACT: The items are for sale at their store for a period of time (I think its like 3 months), then you have 5 days to pick up the items. IF YOU DONT PICK UP YOUR ITEMS, THEY TAKE POSSESSION OF YOUR ITEMS. I do not envy anyone running a thrift store, or consignment shop. This is not an easy business to run, peoples stuff is dirty, peoples stuff doesnt sell, you have to keep track of who gets paid, etc. I get it. I know lawn mower repair shops, automotive service shops, and storage places have similar policies; If you dont pick your stuff up, they take possession and throw it away, or get rid of it, or sell it. This policy is to encourage people to come pick up their sh**. All that being said; what I think Michael's is doing is betting on you not coming to pick your stuff up within that window of time, so they can take possession of your items and sell it without having to pay you your commission. WHAT HAPPENED TO ME: I took two items in to be sold; one sold, one didnt. I called them and told them I would be in next week to pick up the item. She said "thats fine" and didnt say anything about the 5th day window (which I knew about and had remembered from the contract, which is why I called). I came on the 7th day, and she said "oh, sorry, the 5 day window is up. The shop takes possession of the item," which I thought, meant they had thrown my item out. As Im walking out, I see my item in the window. THE ITEM WAS STILL THERE BUT THEY WOULDNT ALLOW ME TO TAKE IT. MY THEORY: So this is what I think they are doing. You give them an item and a price you want to sell it for, and they double the price when they put it on the sales floor; so they are earning 50% of the final sale price if the item sells. The problem is, when 50% is added onto what I want to sell the item for, it bumps the price beyond what most people are willing to purchase the item for (a $150 becomes a $300 dollar bed). After the time passes and the item doesnt sell, they dont inform the consignor that the time is up, 5 days pass and they take possession of the item (per the contract). At this point, they can drop the price down where ever they want the price to be. If you brought in a bed, that was marked at $300 and didnt sell, the second the 5 days pass, and they take possession, they can mark the price of the bed down to $150 (a more reasonable price) and make just as much through the sale as if they sold the item for $300 and had to pay a commission. So I think, they have created a situation where they are "banking" on consignors not being able to make it back to the store within that 5 day time frame, and then repossessing the items, then pricing the item more reasonably and, finally, making their money by cutting out the consignor. It just seems like a simple solution would be for them to send out a reminder email that the deadline is coming up, and the consignor should pick up their item. This store has a good inventory item, I dont think this is too much to ask... or be a little flexible on the 5 day window, instead of strong-arming people out of their items. I would love to see a break-down of how many items they are actually selling when the consignor is involved compared to how many items are sold after the items have been repossessed. My guess is, the majority of the items in the store have been repossessed from a consignor, and the majority of the revenue earned by this shop is from items they have repossessed. And if that is the case, all the complaints about the employees treating the customers like thieves would make sense; the employees are probably watching to see that the consignors do not come to take back their items. CONCLUSION: There is no way I would sell with this store again, especially items of a higher value. It is much easier to sell through Facebook Marketplace on my own, than deal with this place. If you are planning to sell large amount of items, or expensive items, I would recommend steering clear of this place. If you do not come back within the 5 day window, they will take possession of your items and resell them. Sell on FB Marketplace, or The Shopper. If you dont care about your items, and you are selling large quantities of things that you dont plan to pick up after the sale, ok, I could see that.

    I know it's the salvation army, not Nordstrom. And I realize that the items we donate aren't super…read morehigh quality. But I donate them here hoping to give them to someone who will get some use out of them and provide the jobs that the store provides. That said, it is a cr*ppy operation. With a sign that clearly states donations accepted until 6:30 p.m. but when you walk in you're told they stopped accepting at 5:30 because their hours are different. The sign out front still says 6:30 and they would not take my two boxes. So I will not be donating there anymore. I'll go down the street to Goodwill

    I scheduled a pickup of furniture for donation. I did not receive any follow-up from your…read moreorganization. When I called the customer service to try to get a time of the pickup, the representative had an attitude. When I suggested a courtesy call so people don't have to sit around all day waiting, she replied "We're doing a free pickup. It is your responsibility to call us to get a time." I replied the items you are getting are free to you in which you sell and make money. She replied Yes but we don't call. Some people wouldn't respond when we called in the past so we don't call. I recommended automated calls and she again said we don't do that. I have donated to your organization many times and after this, I will not do so anymore. It is obvious that Salvation Army does not appreciate the people who donate and their employees are rude.
