This is a pretty good thrifting location. I mostly shop for clothes and they had a big selection and changing rooms. I wish the shoes were in one spot and organized by size, but I recognize they're using the space they have. I was in the mood to go thrifting recently and asked a few of my friends what areas would be good to get some steals. I was told this area would fit the bill. So after looking around and finding a spot, I headed out. Made my way here and the area was still reeling from the storm that rolled through. The parking lot was a mess and even though they had just opened, they were jammed. I found one of the remaining parking spots near the store and made my way inside. I was expecting a rather expansive area on the inside only to find out that it is much smaller. Not usually a problem, but when it came to browsing, it made for a much more bothersome experience. I would spot an item, want to take a look at it and then promptly be pushed out of the way with another customer with a cart. I was beginning to get frustrated when I decided that I would give it another go. I came here to find an item to put my remotes in and kept going through the housewares section. I had in mind what I wanted, couldn't quite find it. When I did, you could tell it was cheaply made with the Goodwill mark up. I was about to give up when I spotted the endcaps filled with random items. I saw one particular piece and decided this would fit the bill until something else might come along. I quickly went through the clothing but when it comes to clothing for men, this place is severely lacking. Compared to the women's section, it is about quarter the size. Checking out was fast. Like you do not want to be anywhere near them. These guys appear to be in the store ALL the time. Employees say nothing and they all appear to be friends. Very strange. **March 2024 Goodwill Meetup** This was my first visit to this location, so I was eager to check it out. My niece was with me and she's always excited to spend my money -- I mean go shopping. This small store packs a pretty good punch. My niece scored some pretty nice items (e.g., ridiculously oversized graphic print hoodies, a cute disco ball/cowboy hat cup, etc.). I went on opening day just a few days ago and got a few items. On my way out was just about when the store was closing. at the end, I made two piles. A pile I was taking and one I wasn't. They took an item off of my PAID FOR items and I only realized when I was maybe three steps outside. I tried to ask an associate to grab the item quickly, I even had my receipt, but they refused and said to come back the next day for a refund to my card. I couldn't cause it was mothers day, so I came back two days later they would find the scarf for me, and said they PHYSICALLY couldn't refund my money to my card and said it must be in store credit. So I told them that I saw them do it two days earlier when they overcharged a different woman. They finally gave in but not without huffing and puffing and being incredibly disrespectful. read more

I've been going to this Goodwill since it was located at the opposite end of that strip mall probably more than 12 years ago. Now, that spot was small and harder to find what you wanted in there. And pretty dark as I remember. This one is bright, has newish carpet, it's generally very clean and organized. Well, as organized as a store that does what it does, does. Not quite sure where some other reviews say it's messy and hard to shop in. But, to each their own. I still stop in 2 or 3 (okay 4) times a month, sometimes I find amazing treasures, and other times I walk out because nothing excited me that time. I've found an amazing road bike for$30, probably worth well over $100 or more. I've also bought some things that I just re-donate because it wasn't quite right. I could get store credit, but I know over the years I've gotten so many bargains, that I'm fine with my process. Just like any business, you are going to have employees who love their jobs and employees who think of their work as just a job. I appreciate what they all do and forgive a worker if they're having a bad day. It's a happy place for me and I try to make sure I say hello and thank you to the workers in there. This is a small store, very crowded with people and stuff everywhere. Although I don't mind resellers, this Goodwill is pretty ridiculous with a few people guarding the backdoor and completely taking over all the carts that are being brought out before they even fully leave the back room, leaving nothing nice to go on shelves for other shoppers. Horrible experience today at goodwill from an older black woman with short hair, name tag said general manager. She took forever ringing a customer and then when she got to me and I asked for the price on a bag of toys that had not been priced but was on the floor in a whole area of bags of toys with 3.99 on EVERY BAG. She told me she cant sell it to me because its not priced and the policy states that it must be sent to the back to be priced and will be held off the floor for 24 hours and I can try again another time. (As a retail leader you must be able to make executive decisions especially when working to ensure a good customer experience. 7 years retail management personally) These were toys my 3yr old daughter had found. Next i had 3 comic books out of a bin that said "all comic books 99cents" and she said oh i cant sell you these either since no price. I was sure at this point I was being racially profiled and none of this had to do with the store policies. I said the comics were in a bin labelled 99 cents each, and she looked over to the area and there was a man looking at a record. She saw him and said see theyre all priced, so I said um thats a record not a comic book. She said all the other comic books were priced so i couldnt have the ones I had brought up. I had to go to the box and pull one out and show her that none of them are labelled and I said "I dont think these will ever be labelled seeing as there are 1000 and the box already says 99 cents each" She said she would label them herself.... i guess with 99 cent tags? Maybe not working with a full deck of cards here.. she took forever ringing up 3 comic books and never asked me for my member phone number even though she had for the customer ahead of me. In this time of racism and terrible treatment of human beings this was so sad to receive from this lady. My daughter left in tears and the other staff said she was the new manager and i could tell they already hated her. God help this location. I've been in many Goodwills, and this one rates as the most joyless of them all. Ugh. It's so packed and cluttered that you can scarcely move without running into another cart. I wanted suits, and....there are none. Just none. They just sell sport coats and pants separately, which is such a waste of time for everyone. The housewares showed a typical Goodwill issue, which is that what seems like a reasonable piece-rate is actually terrible. "Oh, $2.99 for a plate!" Great. How much are the five plates, five bowls, and five saucers? Yes, you could have easily just bought the same thing from Amazon or Walmart for cheaper. I won't be stopping here again. read more

This location is the closest to my home and I like coming here because I usually find what I need, the staff are generally in good spirits, and the store is kept clean. It's located on a one-way road nestled in a residential neighborhood but has ample parking in a quiet strip mall. Apparently their website shows that their Retail Store hours are updated as "Temporarily Closed" but the Donation Center hours are listed as 10 AM to 5 PM. In fact, there are signs all over that say donations are not accepted, that there is 24-hour surveillance, and that you will be prosecuted if you donate. read more

I decided to give this place one more shot as I felt bad about throwing away things that others could use. Brenden H. DM'd me and I told him my experience, the same that many others have had about waiting for long periods. This time I went on a Saturday morning thinking it wouldn't be as busy if I go earlier in the day. Wrong. This time, instead of the line of cars extending to the street, the line warped to fit in the parking lot to the point it was confusing to know where the line started. Several cars also didn't know where to go and ended up either leaving or circling around the building as to not cut anyone in line. We decided to leave and ended up throwing everything in the garbage. This problem has persisted at least from 2016. There was a reviewer who complained about the wait and drop off set up. I really enjoy pursuing for good deals, and I was super lucky when coming to this goodwill when I did. This goodwill offers color themed deals per week, where certain colored price stickers are half off. I love popcorn. Random, I know; but I've been looking for a hot air popcorn popper and what do I stumble upon here with a half off color sticker? $7 reduced to $3.50?! I had to swipe it. Admittedly, it's a little unsteady since one of the four surface pegs is missing, but it doesn't affect it all (it still stays upright) and I've been using it religiously since. I don't think I have ever been inside this location until today. I've been several times to drop off donations. There is an area in back that you can drive up to and drop and go, or wait for a worker to give you a donation slip. Back to the inside...it's huge. Lots of clothes in the main room, but in a smaller room to the left they have a bric-a-brac of items. I am particularly fond of mismatched plates and saucer. You can get the prettiest plates - some antiques for about a dollar! I use the ones I buy for planter bases. They are cheaper than the cheap terracotta ones from Home Depot! Cutesy saucers are also good for serving amuse bouche dishes to your guest. Smaller dishes, means less food! Everything is so cheap!! Albums for $1.49! If you like Simon & Garfunkel they have them here! I plan to come back when I have more time to peruse. I may have to snag those Pyrex glasses if they are still there next time. read more

I've done donation drop offs for years and while they don't take everything, it is the most efficient place I have been by far. Even after the COVID lockdown with their reduced hours, the line was 20 cars deep. But I don't think everyone waited for more than 5 minutes. It was impressive. Just make sure to write down what you donated on their form and be merrily on your way. read more

I came to this shopping center for one of my day's errands a few months ago. That's when I saw the stand alone Goodwill store in the left corner of the lot. Outside by the front door were larger items like bikes and scooters. I stepped inside I saw a neat and organized store that was filled with a great variety of clothes, household essentials & toys & entertainment items. It is a little bit smaller than other Goodwill stores I have been in but it has the familiar color coded tagging price system with the special color discount of the week. Seniors get an extra discount on top of that. I had a fun time looking around first in the men's clothing section & then around the other areas of the store. Unfortunately for me the men's clothing was mostly in sizes to large for me. The employees I've spoken to and watched with other customers have all been friendly & helpful. I do not seem to get to this shopping center often but when I have the time I go in & look around if only for a few minutes. When you're on Boiling Brooke Place, you'll see signs telling you where to turn for drop-off (back of the building). The arrows will take you to the side of the building where volunteers are sorting the items. If no one is there, simply honk and a volunteer will come out to help you unload your items. Don't forget to ask for your donation slip as sometimes they don't give you one unless you ask. The whole process is quick and painless. Love it! This store is so clean, well organized and the employees are helpful. They do tend to have a long check-out line, but it always moves really fast and the customer service is friendly. Most importantly, I always find really good items and find it hard to stop shopping. It's worth the drive and they also take donations during business hours so I drop off and then shop. Make a donation of the left side of the storefront (if you're facing the store) which doesn't make much sense because it's a one way street and you would essentially have to back in. If you're a local, come in by auto shop (off Schuykill Road) and drive right up to the donation center. However, don't expect the workers to help you unload because as of lately, I've only had them help me ONCE in about the last 6 times I've gone to donate. It makes me a bit sad that they just throw your stuff amongst the piles of other bags as if it were trash; if it were trash then I would have trashed it instead of sorting through it... There is an actually goodwill store where you can pick up knick knacks (think old records, books, housewares, even old dresses for a throwback 70's prom party ha). Bag up your old clothes, housewares, and other misc things and make a donation. They will give you a tax donation receipt if you ask. read more

First off, I'm a Goodwill virgin. I've donated tons and tons through the years and never went in. Well, I donated again yesterday and decided to peek in this place. This place is huge and has so many clothes arranged VERY nicely by type and color. Of course, the prices can't be beat. I got a beautiful long winter coat for 13.98. Unfortunately, I put back a blazer that would've been around $7 and am totally regretting it now, since I don't live closeby. They've got some great brands and even have some Jcrew in the mix. I could've stayed longer, but the hubs is impatient. The sales people are nice and move as fast as they can. I'll definitely be back. read more

One employee told me to put my things in one box and then he told me that they don't go in the box where he told me to put them??? Sorry I'm not a mind reader? Then another employee came out and yelled at me for not pulling up (there was another car in front of me, and no signs specifying where I'm supposed to park). Rude is an understatement. I just left after bringing some high end items to donate and was rudely greeted by an employee who pointed to the sign and told me I was 4 mins late. He was literally standing 5 feet away. He then stood and looked at me, grabbed a sign and walked 10 feet past my car to put up a sign declaring the donation time ended at 7:00 pm. I think people only leave Yelp reviews if they want to complain. I had a great experience at this Goodwill. I came home with a HUGE haul - brand new fancy rain boots, another pair of riding boots, 2 brand new coats, a bunch of shirts and a couple dresses. I could have walked away with more but I had to restrain myself. Everything was in pretty good condition. The aisles are small so if you go when it's busy, be prepared to bump into other people's carts. But overall, I liked this Goodwill MUCH more than the one in Gateway in east DC. As an avid thrifter, I was very underwhelmed when I visited here. Crowded aisles and stuff all over the place, assigned "boutique" racks with items that weren't wearable at all and laden with holes. My breaking point was when I spotted a pink men's Ralph Lauren sweater for my son. It was on a display mannequin. When I approached a worker to retrieve the sweater from the mannequin, I was told that I could not purchase the sweater because 1) It was pink and the only "Easter color" they had for a men's display and 2) they had to have some type of display since district managers were going to be observing their store this week. In addition, I was told that I needed to come back to the store later in the week if I still wanted the sweater. Needless to say, that was unacceptable and I simply walked out of the store. All of that for a sweater that's been worn before. I guess sometimes, it's just best to pay retail. Overall, not the best experience. This was the least favorite of the Goodwill locations so far. read more

Donations at this location are easy - just follow the signs, drive around the building, hand over the goods Andy get a receipt. Buying stuff, sadly, becomes less and less appealing. This shop is relatively new, and deteriorates a bit more each time I go there. It's by now cramped with stuff of not so great quality, questionably sorted, and starts to look trashy. The cashiers can't be bothered to do their job and rather chat or move things from A to B, or wonder how to ring up a customer. Here, paying for an item even if you are the only on in line can take a good 10min. So, should you ever wish to purchase anything, bring time. Lots of time, and then some. read more
