I'm writing this review for book lovers, for the simple fact is that Goodwill (and Savers and the Salvation Army) have simply become the best book stores in the nation. Barnes & Noble--wonderful as the Pittsford NY location is--has become more of a cafe, toy store, and CD/DVD distribution hub than a book store. Worse, the mental plague that is Woke is finely grinding down the very last national book story chain, Barnes & Noble, like quality coffee beans. There are LGBTQ+ displays, anti-racist displays, marginalized-minority-of-the-month displays, gay posters displayed in the children's section, but where are the contrasting views? Barnes & Noble is such a blessing to the community that I have no wish to fault it for the mild way it pushes certain books and downplays others. My point is only that this doesn't happen at all in Goodwill. Books of every sort appear, new, old, self-published, controversial, contrarian, bizarro, the works. The prices are incredibly affordable, condition varies, but if you want to come across not merely good books but titles and content that surprise you, there is only Goodwill and its charitable colleagues. It's the only book store where you can see the American mind in something like a comprehensive display. read more

Ok, so you know how Covid brought back the jigsaw puzzle pastime to the national consciousness? Well, Goodwill now has a plethora of used puzzles that are in GOOD condition. This location in particular had a really good selection of puzzles (500s, 750s and 1000 pieces, and round ones too!) Every puzzle I've done so far has had all the pieces (one of my biggest worries when purchasing) so it's been a great investment. They puzzles are priced right between $2.80 and $4.00. I will definitely be back, because I've scored some good finds here!!! read more

Not a bad thrift store. Ample parking, centrally located, and a friendly cashier. It definitely has that thrift store "smell" and some of the items are laughably overpriced, like so many Goodwill stores are these days. (Hint: anything broken or scratched should not be over 99 cents). I was able to find a small cartload of fun things, nothing over $3 because I'm cheap! I would have liked to see some larger sized clothes available here for men and women. It is a small store but people above a size Large like secondhand shopping too. read more

What this Goodwill lacks in size it makes up for in FINDS! I didn't even realize this location was here, and was so delighted by what I saw when I came in. First of all, I was in LOVE with the book section. Small, manageable, immaculately organized, and SO many discounted books that I had been wanting to read. I saw another person with the Vanishing Half (which I have been meaning to read) in her cart for $1.99 and immediately ran to the section. I grabbed two books ranging from $.99 to $2. This alone made my whole day better! I also grabbed three really nice quality sweaters. The store could use some TLC in terms of boxes of things strewn about, but overall I found it easy to navigate and was delighted by what I saw. Crew members were friendly at checkout! Looking forward to stopping by again and also using this location for drop off. read more

It was fine overall, but not outstanding. Clothes were well organized and neat, but aisles are incredibly cramped. It's nearly impossible to pass someone in an isle if they have a cart, so it can be annoying to try and get where you're going if there's a lot of people in the store. I felt like I was constantly either in someone's way or waiting for someone to move. Items are on the pricey side for a thrift store. Also, they don't offer free bags - you have to buy one of their reusable ones, which would have been nice to know before I had purchased all my items and then had no way to carry them out of the store. This store also doesn't have benches in their fitting rooms, which is a big red flag to me as someone with mobility issues. It's quite difficult for me to try on pants or shorts without sitting down at all. On the plus side, it was well-lit and clean, which is always a plus. I probably won't go back, as there's plenty of other, cheaper thrift stores in the area. read more

My coworker and I come here about once a week to get away from our florescent work environment. There are workers constantly bringing stuff out and keeping things color coded. The selection is a mix of mall brands, boutique, Euro and hipster. I've scored some vintage pieces as well as current. Vinyl finds for everyone, and books in abundance. I've picked up bar signs for a friend in the past so come weekly for your own! Last week I saw a woman purchasing the most beautiful Victorian cast iron cookbook stand with filigre designs. Deep inside I wanted to fight her tooth and nail for it...but I'd like to come back...and make it back to work also. My gawd it was gorgeous. There's expected foot traffic from the area (South Wedge/Swillburg) and the bus stop steps away. Backpackers are asked to put their baggage in the lockers provided. Though they do not lock, bringing your own lock is encouraged. My only complaint, and it's a pet-peeve that applies to all businesses, is the lack of attention and regard for customers. As of late, the day time crew are too busy gossiping or shouting to each other across departments, EVEN whilst cashing people out. This is a MAJOR no-no for me and beyond rude. But as I've said before, the rest of the crew keep things organized and neat which is commendable. read more

This place was one of my first Rochester thrifting experiences. It's right down the street from Boulder Coffee, so after grabbing a cup, I often found myself strolling down here. What the other Yelpers said about this place rings true. The store is very organized and clean. They even have dressing rooms. Clothes are pretty cheap and they often have a decent selection of books and vinyl records to browse through. They do seem to price things based upon the brand...so anything that came from Target seems to be heavier on the price tag. Shoe selection is a little bit sparse, but organized by size (which few thrift stores seem to have the energy to do). This location also has color sales and other sales around holidays. Lots of parking. This is also a donation drop-off location. read more

As a young female shopper, I have a hard time finding anything that has appealed to me here. I have been into this Goodwill on a lot of occasions, it is smaller than the Goodwills in Henrietta, Brockport, Victor, etc. I normally peruse and if I find something I am lucky...BUT For my male friends: Lots of great clothing options. If you need a suit, or dress clothes for work they have killer brands for you. I nabbed a brand new suit here for a friend that fit him like a glove for 7 dollars. They also have lots of nice ties and shoes. Keep in mind that all goodwill locations have a color each day. If the tag of the item you pick is that color the item is half off. So shop, and then pop into Boulder for a coffee :) read more

I am a man of thrift stores and cheap items. You would think that I would love every Goodwill as much as the next but each one varies from being borderline repulsive to a junkman's heaven. I'm not expecting any of these places to be super clean and neat but with this one, it was not super clean and neat, just like I expected. To my sadness this is qutie a small Goodwill, being located in a strip mall outlet and the selection is quite lacking, mainly in the electronics aisle with the media area actually being quite a good size with a large collection or cassettes, records, and I think their were a few LaserDiscs in a box for about eight dollars a disc. As it goes without saying, the home "junk" was all clamored on shelves not in any order and all were randomly priced. It takes about ten minutes just to dig through to find anything specific that you want unless it's just in plain sight and it's playing the invisibile game. That true? It is for me. There is no horrible odor or strange people here so with my love of thrift stores and this being the closest location to home, this is one Goodwill I will always be happy to return too. read more

I like this little Goodwill shop. It is very neat, well organized. I spent a couple of hours poking around and picked up a very cute and gently used pair of shoes for my 7 year old (a high end brand that would have been about 60 bucks new, I know since I bought her a similar pair at Nordstrom last year!) for 3.99. So that alone was worth it! I also picked up a couple of shirts and sweaters for me. I saw a really cute wool jacket, but I just couldn't bear to try it on given that it is a 75 degree day---I shall surely regret it in another couple of weeks! I consider myself to be a thrift connoisseur; I've been thrifting for years and generally know all the good places to go to find things. Since I moved to Rochester recently, I was eager to check out it's thrift stores. The store is decently organized, but they didn't seem to have a big selection of anything other than clothes & shoes. On top of that, I think they really need to reconsider their pricing on some things, especially shoes. I looked at a couple pair of shoes that looked to be in great shape and they were $14.99. I get that this is a bargain as the shoes were probably over $40 or $50 brand new, but c'mon people, this is Goodwill. It should be equivalent (ish) to garage sale prices. Suffice it to say, I probably won't be back unless I'm on the hunt for something specific that I can't find anywhere else. read more

This is a great little store and it serves a good cause. It's part of the AVBI (Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired). To donate, you can donate goods there in the back and it's super easy. If you have never donated, give it a try. All you need to do is pull your car around back to the donation area. You don't need any appointment, just a willingness to give. They give you a receipt that you assign the value of your donation based on your valuation. If you want to shop they have a nice balance between clothes, books and merchandise, typically glassware, cooking, light appliances and what-not. The turns on the merchandise are good, it usually rolls over every week (of course some things never move). I almost always find something there. Prices are very sensible for a thrift shop. They know the stuff is pre-owned and used, so the prices are fair. It's not huge, so you can usually stop in for a few minutes and see if anything is in there for you. What you get is mostly clean and working. If it is in bad shape, it doesn't make it to the floor. Give it a try. There is lots of parking and it's a safe friendly place with some good deals. read more

Yay, a consignment shop with a dressing room! I thought this place was full of hidden finds. I saw decent prices and a lot of professional clothes. So if you needed second hand clothes for work, this would be a great place to get them. The downside is that since they are all from donations, it may not have your size. They have shoes and dress shirts. I saw games, baking equipment, and also dresses. The prices were all affordable and the quality was pretty good. The ladies who work here were nice and helpful. read more

it's a shame that people do donations, to the stores of goodwill. an goodwill sales the people broken merchandise. they put tape so that customer dont see where is broken, and they tell you that if you take out the tape they will not sale the item. i was in all the goodwill in rochester n.y all had the same thing and if you buy broken they will no refund your money. i know is for charity but it cost us money too that's money we dont have. if i did, i would not have to go to goodwill. shame on you guys. read more

One of my favorite destinations when I am in town visiting family who live nearby. It is clean, well-lighted, and pleasantly free of that characteristic stale thrift shop odor. I shop here frequently and have been to all the Rochester stores. Over the years I have found some fabulous bargains, for myself and for others for whom I do purchasing. The employees I encounter are hard working and they make an effort to be helpful to customers. My main gripe, and it's a big one that keeps me from giving a 5-star rating, is that the CEO makes an obscenely large salary as if the chain were "big business" instead of focused on helping people in need.
