Well, then head into your nearest Goodwill. Yes, I went to Florida and forgot a hat. This was a really large Goodwill with lots of donations of brand new items donated by familiar chain stores. In addition, I found a couple of useful items for dirt cheap that would come in handy over the next few days. I'd like to leave a little bit of a backstory to make it fair as for my review/ question. I just asked that you please respect that I am making public personal humbling & submissive experiences.1 was when I'd lost my home and all my belongings due to a house fire at age 32 with a four year-old daughter left with nothing but clothes on my back, given a few papers for disaster relief. I came down to Naples to be near who I considered to be family. * Now I had always been an active volunteer. Then I was put on SSD so I extended my volunteering too 30 +hrs wk. unless too ill. I truly enjoyed being active and feeling like I still had a purpose and able to give back I always donated items time money etc. Given a good Samaritans award which came with a financial reward I used to start the Mika Hanney cancer fund. Recognizing my friends 13-year-old daughter diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. (She is now married and has a child of her own) shortly after I handed over the foundation to her family I wound up losing my home , all my belongings to a house fire. age 32 with a four year old daughter. I came to Naples so with the clothes on my back and my disaster relief forms to rebuild a life* It was when I walked into my first Goodwill, I almost fell over when I saw a price tag on a table for $1000.00!! where I came from Pgh PA. that same table would've gone for $25 as it was donated people!!!!! I took my forms and went to a few other resale/charities. Another Goodwill attempt a worker was so rude and belittling I left in tears. As I was called a low class woman looking for handouts. Forms in hand I was just trying to obtain a toddler size mattress. It was then I refused to look for any help from any of these "nonprofit" organizations. So I pulled things from dumpsters & off side of road cleaning and refurbishing them all on my own. Then to my surprise a well known church (1st Baptist) sent 4 women to my house offering to give my daughter a Christmas morning with gifts. Because a friend of mine had told them about my situation.They asked for her sizes, and if there was something particular she may want. In tears gratefully I gave them her sizes and mentioned that she loved anything that had to do with animals. I kept in contact regularly, offering to volunteer my time or anything to show my appreciation. Come Christmas Eve morning I made a phone call to the woman in charge of there group,asking if I needed to pick up these gifts or if they were going to be delivered she said she would get back to me. Needless to say come Christmas morning. There was nothing for my daughter not even a phone call to lmk. I had a few small gifts I was able to buy for her. I tried to hide my shame and heartache from my daughter. However when your child is hurt it enters you and turns to anger. I never again trusted the word "help". Since then finally on my feet, I was quick to start my volunteering and donations. Being that life is full of unexpected grandeur as well as extreme hardship. * Now 2025 I recently again have come across extreme hardship, affecting my health and safety. *Bringing me to my question as I am desperate, Where can someone find a food bank ( that does not entail me filling out questions leading to multiple spam calls and an unanswered question) or is there possible immediate desperately needed help or an advocate? As my most recent situation was one of such heartbreak that of a true nightmare I cannot come to terms with what was done. I'm afraid to make information about it public. You think with all the donation stops made I would've been able to gather some information about where to obtain things that have been donated for some reason that information is not properly advertised. Please !? I run into walls in every direction I've turned. I'm Honestly losing strength from malnutrition. Once I'm on my feet again I am very eager to make a change. With a hands on approach, even going to find people that need help as I now realize it gets so hard and so bad that you're unable to reach or find the help that may be out there. Everyone has a story. No one deserves to struggle a little Hope can create enormous promise,changes for the better. Very poor customer service to make a donation. One employee finally came out and watched us fill the ONLY bin out there. Two other customers showed up and proceeded to put their belongings in the bin we were using which filled up and we had to wait for another bin. The employee was rude. We won't be back!! We recommend the Goodwill on Santa Barbara near Radio Road. Two employees were ready to help and there were 4 bins outside for us to use!! read more

Goodwill was found in 1902 by Boston Minister, Reverend Edgar J. Helms. He took donations from wealthy Bostonians and hired people who were poor and could fix the items. They were then given to the people who worked on them or were resold. Goodwill's philosophy is "a hand up, not a hand out". Today Goodwill has become a $5 billion nonprofit organization that provides job training, employment, and community programs for people who have disabilities that might prevent them from getting a job on their own. Everything is nicer in Naples and this extends to their Goodwill. This is the type of Goodwill store that I recently visited in Sebring. In addition to the usual clothes and second hand items, they have a ton of brand new items which they sell at discount prices. My favorite part of the store was their huge Halloween Boo-teek. Brand new costumes and decorations were mixed in with second hand clothing and Halloween items. They had some incredible things. My favorite was a wedding dress covered in blood splatter. All you would need is an ax and then you could be the bride from the Haunted Mansion. Unfortunately it was so tiny, too small even for my daughter. There was also a prom looking dress with blood that would make a perfect Carrie. I found a chartreuse ball gown that reminded me of Winifred from Hocus Pocus. The dresses were $19.99. With a little imagination you could put together an inexpensive contest winning costume. Goodwill even had Christmas items in their Boo-trek. Selling Christmas items in September, now that's truly scary. read more

This is an excellent Goodwill store. This was our first time visiting this particular Goodwill and we loved the experience. The store is huge, immaculate, each area is meticulously kept and organized. The staff is wonderful and attentive. My parents found a whole bunch of treasures. We found some vintage china that we loved and re-homed. I truly love shopping at second hand stores and purchasing items that simply can't be bought in regular stores. I love giving new life to these vintage pieces and adding them as treasures to our home. Pro tip: There is plenty of free parking at this location. read more

I am a thrift store junkie and I always stop here when I come to Naples. Large shoe selection and women's selection. The prices are all over the place but decent, per usual I recommend googling to make sure you are getting a good deal. They have New Halloween Items starting in September they call it the "Bootique" which is super cute. All in all it is a decent stop but get ready to dig and hunt for your one of a kind find. Often overpriced and dirty. Many items useless because they have missing parts, cords, or pieces. Occasional find. Vague policies, such as "oh yes, you can return it within seven days", but they don't tell you that it is for credit only and you must use it immediately. I got a set of glasses and thought I could get the cloudy stain off them. They were burned by the dishwasher and soap and could not be removed. Tough policies for a secondhand store. I have seen pie plates, custard cups, S & P shakers, kitchen items, and baking dishes that cost less if you were to buy them brand-new at a department store. Employee Indira leaves a lot to be desired in the way of Customer Service! Spazzes out real easy...Get a grip please! Went to pick up my monthly orders. Never asked for my name, however I pointed out two of the items were mine. Since they were remote shipped to this store (#126) they did not come with necessary paperwork. I told her I had 7 items to pickup. Sooo confused, I said can't you look it up? It's online. Her response was "I need to shut the door" so she did, and said nothing else. So I waited 10 min., wondering what was going on. Finally I got annoyed and proceeded to walk out the store feeling absolutely bewildered, but a Christmas item caught my eye. About 10 more minutes she's yelling at me down a long isle. Sir, Sir,Sir, I look up and there she is flagging me down the isle, "come this way"! So I tailed along (feeling like a child)...while she's talking on the phone, she put the 2 chairs in my cart. I proceed to leave as she's still talking on the phone. "Sir...sir..". she hangs up her phone and has me sign papers. Then to add salt to the wound , I go to pay for my Christmas item. The nice manager guy sees the 2 chairs in my cart says"I see you got your chairs, I told her they were yours". So what exactly was Indira doing after she shut the door on me, and left me standing bewildered?? read more
