I was greeted warmly as soon as I walked in the door. St. Matthews had two large rooms. The first room had furniture, appliances, sports equipment (they had a ton of golf clubs out front), and household goods. The second room was filled with clothing and accessories. Everything is in great condition and set up in inviting displays. St. Matthew's House began in 1987 when a group of Naples church members calling themselves the Homeless Task Force started bringing food to a homeless group living in a nearby wooded area. They started out by gathering food and clothing to help people and today have grown into a large ministry helping thousands of people in the Naples community each year. Operating expenses are covered by their businesses and one hundred percent of public donations goes directly into helping those who need it the most. This ministry takes it's name from bible verse Matthew 25: 35-36, 40 "For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me. Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me." St Matthew's provides programs to help people transition from homelessness to self sufficiency. The Immokalee Friendship House provides shelter to the homeless and over 25,000 meals a year. Justin's Place Feeding Ministry has been serving meals to the hungry for 25 years and more than 20,000 meals are served each year. Wolfe Apartments offers transitional housing to male clients of the Justin's Place Recovery Program which helps men and women fight drug and alcohol abuse. Programs are funded by proceeds from thrift stores located in Naples, Bonita Springs, Fort Myers, and Immokalee. You can also support the worthy mission of helping people at St. Matthew's House by shopping their thrift stores. donating your furniture, hiring their catering company, and using their hand wash and detail center.

Shame on management there...your goal should to be to sell everything that is donated at less then "reasonable" priced 2nd hand, thrift store prices! If it is not sold in 4-6 months you priced it TOO high! You are not a retail store, price it accordingly!! Do the good work people think you are doing thus we donate to you instead of Goodwill!

Name brands from all of the best department and upscale stores: Saks, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Lilly Pulitzer, St. John. There is smaller store in the shopping mall to the east that has a more traditional thrift layout and more run of the mill merchandise. Prices: commensurate with the high dollar value of the items for sale. No real "bargains" here, but you will pay about 50% to 80% less for these items. Case in point, a St. John beaded knit dress for $90 that likely originally retailed for $500 or more. The rich old people of Naples have to kick the bucket some time, and it looks like a lot of their stuff ends up here. This would be a frequent haunt of mine if I lived in the area just for browsing alone! Note: if you look hard enough, you can find some exquisite vintage clothing and a few nice pieces of Danish MCM furniture. And an Enchanted Tiki Room-themed display.

Approximately 25,000 people in Southwest Florida are served by Goodwill Southwest Florida thrift stores every year. I discovered this Goodwill in Egret Crossing on a recent thrifting trip to Naples. The store opened in May of 2021 and it still looks brand new. This Goodwill resembles a Home Goods more than a thrift store. There is so much to explore here starting with the Better Brands section of clothing, a boutique area where you can find name brand clothes. The store is filled with not only donated items but brand new items too. They have a ton of clothing for men, women, and children, accessories, furniture, home goods, toys, small appliances, books, and more, all at discounted prices. Everything is organized by type, color, and size so shopping is a breeze. This is easily the nicest Goodwill I have ever been in.

While shopping, I observed multiple staff members who were restocking merchandise openly discussing, in front of customers, how they were removing the "good" items from the sales floor to take to the back and set aside in personal piles for one another. This was spoken about loudly and casually, as if it were standard practice. While doing so, these same employees repeatedly stepped directly in front of me and physically pushed past me to access racks I was actively browsing. This occurred multiple times and created an uncomfortable and disrespectful situation. The combination of staff hoarding merchandise for personal use and physically disregarding customers reflects a serious lapse in professionalism and store oversight. Customers should not be displaced or made uncomfortable so that staff can reserve merchandise for themselves. This behavior undermines trust, fairness, and the integrity of the store's operations, and leadership should be made aware.

I came down to Naples to be near who I considered to be family. * Now I had always been an active volunteer. Then I was put on SSD so I extended my volunteering too 30 +hrs wk. unless too ill. I truly enjoyed being active and feeling like I still had a purpose and able to give back I always donated items time money etc. Given a good Samaritans award which came with a financial reward I used to start the Mika Hanney cancer fund. Recognizing my friends 13-year-old daughter diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. (She is now married and has a child of her own) shortly after I handed over the foundation to her family I wound up losing my home , all my belongings to a house fire. age 32 with a four year old daughter. I came to Naples so with the clothes on my back and my disaster relief forms to rebuild a life* It was when I walked into my first Goodwill, I almost fell over when I saw a price tag on a table for $1000.00!! where I came from Pgh PA. that same table would've gone for $25 as it was donated people!!!!! I took my forms and went to a few other resale/charities. Another Goodwill attempt a worker was so rude and belittling I left in tears. As I was called a low class woman looking for handouts. Forms in hand I was just trying to obtain a toddler size mattress. It was then I refused to look for any help from any of these "nonprofit" organizations. So I pulled things from dumpsters & off side of road cleaning and refurbishing them all on my own. Then to my surprise a well known church (1st Baptist) sent 4 women to my house offering to give my daughter a Christmas morning with gifts. Because a friend of mine had told them about my situation. They asked for her sizes, and if there was something particular she may want. In tears gratefully I gave them her sizes and mentioned that she loved anything that had to do with animals. I kept in contact regularly, offering to volunteer my time or anything to show my appreciation. Come Christmas Eve morning I made a phone call to the woman in charge of there group, asking if I needed to pick up these gifts or if they were going to be delivered she said she would get back to me. Needless to say come Christmas morning. There was nothing for my daughter not even a phone call to lmk. I had a few small gifts I was able to buy for her. I tried to hide my shame and heartache from my daughter. However when your child is hurt it enters you and turns to anger. I never again trusted the word "help". Since then finally on my feet, I was quick to start my volunteering and donations. Being that life is full of unexpected grandeur as well as extreme hardship. * Now 2025 I recently again have come across extreme hardship, affecting my health and safety. *Bringing me to my question as I am desperate, Where can someone find a food bank ( that does not entail me filling out questions leading to multiple spam calls and an unanswered question) or is there possible immediate desperately needed help or an advocate? As my most recent situation was one of such heartbreak that of a true nightmare I cannot come to terms with what was done. I'm afraid to make information about it public. You think with all the donation stops made I would've been able to gather some information about where to obtain things that have been donated for some reason that information is not properly advertised. Please !? I run into walls in every direction I've turned. I'm Honestly losing strength from malnutrition. Once I'm on my feet again I am very eager to make a change. With a hands on approach, even going to find people that need help as I now realize it gets so hard and so bad that you're unable to reach or find the help that may be out there. Everyone has a story. No one deserves to struggle a little Hope can create enormous promise, changes for the better. My name is Krissy I promise when I get my strength back you will see and feel a change. Eager to give security in exchange for there struggles. The strong need to clear a path of obstacles shortening the battle for the weak leaving them with more strength to continue on themselves.. ** where or is there legitimate food banks in Naples? ** hunger is painful.
