Charities often be around that they don't get contributions. However, my experience today trying to donate a very nice flat screen new model TV, a very nice commercial quality, paper, shredder, and several hundred dollars of other brand new goods shows why Goodwill industries and others like them are increasingly alienating donors. I understand that charities have space limitations, and that sometimes there are certain items they can't handle. That's why smart donors. Look at the website before they waste their time driving over to that charity to make a donation of gently use business or personal goods. I checked before I came to confirm that Goodwill would accept television, printer, business equipment, and other items that I plan to donate. You can understand then, why I was irritated when the worker arrived after I waited for five minutes for her to come told me while standing in front of the sign that says they take televisions they don't accept TVs. When I told her never mind, I would take my thing somewhere else, she told me she'd be happy to take the other things. Like most contributors, it's a concession to take the time to donate things. I'm not interested in driving all over town wasting gas in time to find which of the contributions listed on their website that Goodwill or another charity doesn't feel like accepting today. I bring good things and I spend good valuable time to deliver them to the location. If I'm gonna have this type of trouble, I'm gonna join the million of other Americans, so no longer contribute. I'll just simply set out the trash and somebody drives by and pick it up. If not, I'll let the garbage have it. I won't drive around, begging charity that asks for donations to accept them when I bring them. Not surprisingly, I won't be coming back, but I will be sharing this review with other people so that they can consider whether they want to waste their support on an organization that may or may not value their donations, time, and other contributions. read more

Goodwill is always an adventure! Got a great haul today; $50 for 4 clothing items, 2 smedium pot planters, 2 cutting boards, 1 bamboo steamer, 2 misc decor items, 1 large vase, 2 Christmas items, and a sturdy wooden step stool! Great finds, added star for the argument I overheard an aisle over when a guy was walking around on the phone speaking loudly about some kind of magic cards he's sorting through and how much of a pain it is. Karen happened to be shopping this morning and let him know, for all of us, we are trying to have a nice Sunday morning thrift and his convo needed to be taken to a non-public area; I'm sure can imagine the rest of the argument. Was entertaining for sure! Complaint is pricing on clothes; almost $10 for most things including items from Walmart or shein which make no sense. Found much more value outside of clothing. Really I came here to say the staff at this Goodwill is too notch, everyone super friendly which you don't always find thrifting; thank you to the team at this location! read more

I am so fed up with Goodwill. For 6 months now, they will not take donations. I hope they fail since they don't want to help people.

By far the worst Goodwill in DFW . I'm from New York and we know rudeness, but I've never experienced a more surly group of people than the guys who work at the donation site. I understand that some of these people have barriers to employment or disabilities and some are court-ordered to volunteer here , but yelling profanities at a donor because I placed my bags in the wrong trolley goes too far. Never ever donating to Goodwill again, I would rather burn all my donations in a bonfire on Alma than deal with anyone at that store. A total disgrace read more

The prices here have gone up tremendously! The store has been updated with dressing rooms which is nice, but the price increases make me less likely to frequent this store. If you want better prices and still high quality clothes then go to St. Vincent thrift in Plano or Dallas. read more

Not sure why the bad reviews on this place, I think it's great! I stop by here regularly to drop off stuff (I'm the opposite of a hoarder... I'm constantly getting rid of unwanted stuff). Anyway, once while I dropped things off I decided to stop in the store. Super glad that I did. They do a great job of organizing the clothes... for instance, I was in during the cold months and they had all the sweaters out front and color coordinated. I found some cute Gap, BCBG and Banana sweaters for super cheap! You just have to dig :). They also have some cute decor back in the back and I really like their winter coat and pajama pants sections. I will say this, though. This probably isn't the goodwill that you wanna go to if you're looking for something for a Halloween costume. I don't seem to notice any super obnoxious clothes here (most of it is clothes you'll actually wear... IMO). If you want good costume stuff (ie, 80's theme) you may be better served going to one of the thrift shops in the older area of East Plano. I used to enjoy going there but in the past year the prices went way up and there's barely anything on the shelves. I'm not sure how that is possible because there's always a line of people giving donations. I'm starting to think that they send the good stuff to their auction website and the store gets the broken, dirty stuff that wouldn't sell in the auctions. read more

I'm not saying it's necessarily expense, but everything is priced the same (jeans are all are $6.99 etc.) set prices for each thing is not usually what I want in a thrift store. Found a couple of gems but the place is a little overwhelming as it is rather disorganized. Also I felt like it was a little more pricier than most Goodwills but I don't go thrifting that often so unsure if pricing is the same everywhere actually. The layout of the store is nice, however. I have been to this Goodwill many times. Overall, I like them quite a lot. The selection ranges from okay to great, depending on the day you go in. Isn't that the beauty of a thrift store? It's a nice sized Goodwill and from what I've seen, it stays clean without being 'too organized'. Generally the checkout people are nice enough, although I've run into one or two surly ones. They have dressing rooms as well, which is nice in a thrift store. They do play Christian or easy listening type music over the store loudspeakers, but it's not so loud that it's obnoxious. Their prices for a city dwelling Goodwill are pretty decent overall. Once and a while I'll see something and say a little WTF to myself, but I have pretty rigid rules as to what I think used garments should cost. This Goodwill does actually get a lot of seconds and unsold merchandise so you'll find a good chunk of new with tags items as well. I'd rate this Goodwill as one of my preferred DFW area thrift stores - not the best, but one of the better ones for sure. Plus, it's close to my house and good for the days that I need a shopping fix but I'm too lazy to drive anywhere else. read more

BEST THRIFT STORE IN DALLAS. As a curvy girl, it is difficult to find a thrift store with a good plus size section. Not only does this store cater to their larger shoppers, you can also find brand new items that have been donated by the local Target store. They also carry brand new Fossil purses. This place is amazing for career attire. I found many new shirts, skirts, and pants for under $10. The store itself is fairly organized and everything is clean. The ladies working here are super sweet. I hate going to department stores and spending $200 plus on maybe four shirts. I found many many many name brand clothing here. Most of them were new with tags or never worn from the look of them. I got a total of three pants, two silk shirts, a pair of madden girl shoes, and a suit for ~$40. (Most of which were name brand). Wow! I was really surprised when I came into this location. First I must say the store is super clean and super organized. Every single item in here is in order by colors, paints, shirts, dresses, ect. There is a large selection of what ever you are needing. Even home goods. I was shocked at all the stuff I saw in good condition. The number one thing that I truly loved is that there was a dressing room to try on clothes!!!! Thats amazing. The store is open and not cluttered. Also there is an electronic department and a department where you can get books and stuff from!!! WOW...... Parking lot clean too. The only reason why this place gets a 4 instead of a 5 is because they store needs like a strong smell good candle in there to knock out that old people smell LOL!! But for real!!! read more

I've been to many thrift stores and this one gets the award for most nastiest thrift store. It smells really bad, the floors are dirty, the employees are rude. I stood at the end of an aisle waiting for a staff member who was throwing stuff on the shelves to acknowledge my presence and me wanting to pass her but she just glanced over at me and kept "working". I finally had to say pretty loud, " excuse me" and she finally moved. Really? The prices were a little too high to be a thrift store. I guess I'm trying to re-live the glory of finding a pair of great heels I got at Goodwill for only 2 dollars, but this time when I went, I was really dissatisfied. I don't like that the most of the shoes are thrown into bins that you have to rummage through and hope that you can find a pair. Most of the shoes are dirty, also, so your hands feel gross digging through the bottom of the bin. Also, I know that Goodwill isn't like Plato's Closet or Buffalo Exchange, but I could still see someone's foot gunk (you know what I'm talking about) collected in a pair of flats, and I really wish someone had made an effort to make the shoes presentable. read more

This used to be a great Goodwill store that adhered to Goodwill's pricing policies, however now the store clerks tend to just spout off a price off the top of their head and it is different from one clerk to the next. Goodwill typically has a set list of prices for various types of items and this store used to have posted prices. As an experiment, I took an unmarked item to one clerk who told me the item was $2.99. Having been a frequent thrift store shopper for years, I knew the item is normally priced $1.99 at other Goodwill stores in the area. I asked her if she could check her price list to be sure she was charging me the correct price and she got very disturbed and agitated by my request (and she declined). I told her I no longer wanted the item and she returned it to stock. A few moments later, there was a different clerk (shift change?) at the register so I grabbed the same aforementioned item and took it back up to the cash register to inquire about the price. Interesting - it was $1.99! This has happened now on more than one occasion at this particular Goodwill location, so be aware that the pricing inconsistencies exist, here. Catch a cashier on a good mood day for best results. On another note, the housewares and household linens section was very organized and each item was neatly folded on my most recent visit, which is unusual for a larger thrift store. The price of books is higher at this store than other thrift stores in the area - definitely not a bargain. This store seems to be best for baby clothing and household items, although be sure to get an accurate price, as the items are no longer clearly marked in their sections. Clothing items are organized by color but not by size; however the prices are still quite high for the items being offered. Shoes were not in very good condition; many had holes in the toes and the shoe section smelled strongly of dirty feet. This is certainly a store that requires you to take the time to search for that one good deal, as the prices in general are much higher than surrounding stores and the selection is hit-or-miss. Military members and senior citizens receive a discount on Thursdays. read more

Horrible customer service. Went to check out with a TV tray clearly priced $3.99. Clerk took the tag off and said it was wrong price and that it was actually $5.99... Ok this Goodwill just frustrates me. Why is every single coat 17.99? The big, small, fur lined, unlined are all marked the same price! And 17.99 is not cheap for the merchandise that comes through here. It doesn't matter if things are missing buttons, stained, or anything else they mark stuff 6.99+. I think the prices are way too high for the quality. You are better off finding things at Family Thrift, Hope's Door and Clothes Mentor across the street. read more

the slowest, dirtiest, trashiest Goodwill I've ever been in. when there was 16 people in like in front of me, the manager and another employee slowly walked out of the office that had the door open, and said "oh, I guess we have a back up... where are the 5pm people?!" considering it was 4:48, the 5pm people weren't there, and they should have been doing their job since they WERE there. I'm by no means a thrift shopper (not because I don't want to be but because I don't have the patience). I regularly donate to the Goodwill store and every now and then stop in to see if I can score a fabulous find. In my most recent visit I was looking for a grandma inspired dress for Halloween. I didn't find exactly what I was looking for but I did find an absolutely AMAZING Liz Claiborne dress that is BAD (bad meaning good not bad meaning bad) that I can't wait to wear. This Goodwill location is just as good as the Shiloh one. Clean and well organized inside, and overall the employees are really nice. It is nicely decorated and feels like a higher scale thrift store inside. The sections may be smaller in comparison but I found the quality to be higher. Lots of good children's books, especially chapter books for early readers. Books are well organized and they seemed to stay that way! Tons of shoes, women's clothes, and home decor. Men's, toys, plush, and purse sections were smaller than most. Goodwill just flat out prices their clothing high, but generally speaking when a thrift store prices one thing high there is another they price low. So wait for a 50% off sale to go crazy with clothes, they tend to have them once a month. read more

I live in another city and had some time to kill on a Wednesday. I stumbled into this store while looking for an antique mall. Wow! I found lots of great buys but it takes a LOT OF TIME to dig through everything! My biggest scores were an Oscar de la Renta tweed blazer for $5.99 and a Talbots gray pinstripe blazer ($5.99). Both are in perfect condition. I also bought a red suede purse for $3.99. I purchased several other lesser items---I think I spent less than $50 for about 7 items that I love! read more
