This store tends to have a good selection of items due to the surrounding area being more wealthy. However, the prices are absolutely ridiculous. I understand this is a business and they need to make a profit, however it's Goodwill. Every item in this store was donated. They received every item for Free / $0. Speakers for $100. I saw a piano / keyboard for $175. $175!! Headphones with ripped cushioning for $25. As I said, there is nothing wrong with making a profit on items, and more power to them, but when you see items at Goodwill, selling for close to retail and in some cases, I've seen items selling for higher than retail! I've always believed Goodwill was a thrift store, selling items for people in need. I have shopped at this Goodwill for nearly a decade. However, the pricing members have completely lost their mind on a good amount of items, especially clothing. A few months back they had a t shirt behind the counter marked up at $200. As I was curious about the price, I looked on eBay and the shirt sold for $75 in great condition. Their shirt was torn up and put back together. I asked an employee about it and they simply replied it was marked as such because it was old. I have also seen used items from Walmart, a store 500 feet away, marked at over their retail value from this Goodwill in Macedon. 5 years ago this was my favorite Goodwill to visit, now I only go their to laugh at their ridiculous pricing. If this price increases resulted in a higher percentage of monetary flow to their work programs I would understand and support this. However their 1/8 of profit has not changed and the increase in price is only to boost the income of the higher ups. A concept that charitable organizations are supposed to be in stark contrast of. I believe that this up-charging of price is made even worse as Goodwill Macedon is not located in a wealthy area and those searching for clothing are limited to either brands that are known to be cheap and unreliable, or paying 3x the base amount for something that they can find brand new at Eastview Mall for $5 more. Over the years I have donated hundreds of dollars by rounding up my change at the end of a purchase, but currently I can not see myself doing that as I am already paying up to 10x the amount I would have been paying 2 years ago, and I have no longer any desire to donate this money to Goodwill Macedon. I have began to take my money and donations to other organizations such as Salvation Army as I know that my money is actually being used for rehabilitation and it hurts myself as a consumer less. I have and will continue to urge others to do the same, as this malicious practice harms those that the Goodwill organization was founded on benefitting. I hope to see a change but I sincerely can not see this happening as that means less money for Goodwill corporate. read more

I tend to shop at Victor, Webster & Macedon. The inconsistent pricing- $18 for a cheap dress from a mall store that likely cost less on sale is a regular occurrence & I most recently was disgusted at the price of $8 per single plain white plate (WTF?). I have noted a lot more items with stains & holes lately. Not a fan of the staff having loud conversations across the store about life outside of work- makes me feel like I'm intruding on their personal time and is just unprofessional. Above all, I am absolutely mystified as to why they have ONLY a single (usually broken) hook in their dressing rooms. All that being said, I do return on the regular because I continue to find higher end clothing items for my husband, often brand new. The stores are always clean & the hard goods are well organized. Beware, each and every one of these stores seems to care little about organizing the clothing sizes. I have started to go through everything as I find smalls mixed in with larges and so forth. Found a decent record for 99 cents. Took to register and tag would not scan. Waited for manager to tell us it was an old tag and that someone peeled off the new price. She needed to phone someone else to ask the price, I said nevermind. She got snippy with me because I didn't want to wait another time to be told a price other than what was marked. They have raised records to $3 good for them. Make sure the 99 cent stickers aren't on them then, and don't get snippy with customers when you leave them on. Attitude isn't worth paying another 2 dollars sorry. Used to be my favorite GW store not since this manager!! If GW wants to play test and Clean and keep their stickers off the covers which devalues them further then maybe I would pay more than a dollar for them but these greedy managers think they deserve more money for products they know nothing about. A faded used pair of slacks, originally from Walmart, are $9. A used worn-out T-shirt is $5. Their prices are the highest of any thrift store. Salvation Army has the very best pricing. I think the "thrift store craze" has caused places like ABVI to forget where their free inventory is coming from: us. Thrift stores should keep in mind the limited monies of low income families. My least favorite store is the Victor,NY store. I asked the store manager to hold a table for me for about an hour until I go home to get a different car to pick it up but was told "no". A couple days later, some else did the same thing and was told "yes" by a different manager. This is bad business. The staffs at the other stores are much more friendly. read more

Side of Road, Garage Sale, Good -Will, Craigslist, Ebay, Walmart, Target, Marshalls Internet, Mall... I spend money in that order. I'm not keen on paying for marketing. When I walk into this Goodwill vs the ones in Victor or Webster I feel much cleaner. The only way I can describe it is scuzz factor. Some places have it and some don't. This one is very clean, and well lit. The workers are very nice people. You will like the vibe in this one vs the other two I mentioned. I find myself going to the Goodwill to pass time and look for something fun or functional alot, and can spend a couple hours without having to spend 2 bucks. The point is, its a pretty nice place that you can feel safe at. Alot of my attire is Goodwill and you would not know. The prices are right and each week they have 50% off on stuff with specific tag colors. Having said all of this, the pricing at this store has probably doubled in the last 2 years. It's a bit of a bummer, as you really have to look hard to get the fantastic deal. Now you are just getting a good deal. The new pricing they have done has eliminated me from impulse buys. In other words, that mug I didn't need, but I bought for $.50, I'm not buying now because it's a buck. It used to be you couldn't pass up the deals on product there, even if you didn't need the stuff, just because it was so well priced. That doesn't happen any more and I'm sure those that have gone here for a while will agree. All in all though, if you do go, and want to save in general about 25% from Walmart Sale Prices then you won't be let down. If you are expecting wicked deals...sorry stick to the side of the road LIKE ME!!! Take a couple hours and have fun poking. read more
