What in the hell do they "treat" their clothing with for the past few years? Everything I got since then absolutely REEKS of some extremely strong and SMELLING EVIL concoction that no amount of soaking in white vinegar or lemon juice kills...no more articles of clothing from GOODWILL...how very sad because it's disgusting & frustrating & I d love to know what the crap REALLY is! & What's the antidote? And WHY the hell somebody thought this was necessary for whatever reason...they've ruined their business as far as I m concerned for their clothing. read more

My husband and I witnessed a Goodwill employee push a cart with several items in it from the donations door to her car. She came around from the side pushed the cart right up to her car and loaded the items into the back of her vehicle. Then went back into the donation area when we were in the store we could see her in the back working. The thought of donating here after what we saw never again. It is so very sad that donations are being taken from the door and put into an employee's car and not even making it in the door. Where I come from it is called stealing. So very disappointed in this Goodwill. read more

By far the grossest thrift shop I have ever been in. The clothes are not organized at all- so if you want anything, you best plan to sift through everything. The linens are in bins, the house goods section is stacked on top of itself- for instance their is a mangled mess of metal kitchen doodads- forget trying to grab anything from that stack! This trend of messy overcrowded and stacked items carried to all the other shelves. There are dirty carriages of items that they didn't bother putting out- that you can sift through. It's disgusting! But the icing on the cake is the staff in the back. They are swearing and yelling, which is totally inappropriate! There were children in the store having to listen to their mouths. I will definitely not be returning. read more

The prices here have increased dramatically in recent years and most are now way too high for used and often defective clothing. This is especially true considering that they now have no mirrors or dressing rooms and do not accept exchanges for any reason. I have had to toss moldy, damaged, and ill-fitting items that I bought here and was unable to return or exchange. Two stars though because the low-paid workers (unlike the rude management) are friendly, polite, and helpful. read more

Im not surprised in the least about the bad reviews featuring the appallingly nasty manager. I've seen her start verbal confrontations on many occasions. That and their prices are absolutely a joke. RUDE STAFF, got there today willing to spend a decent amount of money... staff was incredibly rude at checkout.... when they called the NICE MAN in front of me, they called him stupid LOUDLY and he said "what did you just say...?" And they started laughing and making fun of him AS HE WAS TRYING TO SPEND HIS MONEY THERE... then when he walked out they all started making fun of him. Extremely rude and loud women with long dark hair, mocking customers and calling them stupid. Humble yourselves please. read more

Would not recommend. I run a small, online business and commonly find myself overstocked from purchases I make in bulk. Because of this, I like to donate my gently used items to a good cause. Goodwill of Northampton seemed like the perfect place. On a Saturday, I called ahead to make sure that they would be open the next day, and accepting donations. The young woman who I spoke to assured me that they would on both accounts, and agreed to sign a "Donee Acknowledgment Form" for tax purposes, without hesitation. Side note: for those of you donating items to any non-profit (501c3), make sure you make a list of your donations and the common value in their condition. Also obtain the EIN # and address/information for the location of your donations. These are tax deductible. Enter Sunday, I arrive with a literal truck load full of items, meticulously cataloged and packed into bags/bins. I have printed out the standard Acknowledgment forms and approach the manager, who could not have been more rude. "We don't sign those anymore... we don't have to", she exclaims. I protest, if her store is accepting items, that they are obliged to acknowledge the value, and receipt of said donations. This is standard procedure and required by the IRS for deductions. "I don't even think you can deduct them anymore, because of Trump", she continued. Begrudgingly, she agreed to sign a standard donation slip provided by Goodwill Industries, but made sure that it was "not our job anymore". To her I say this, if you proudly manage a non-profit, who's sole purpose is to sell items you get for free, make sure you follow proper procedure. A note has been sent to Goodwill Industries reporting this interaction, as well as the store (#18). For those of you looking to donate your items -- perhaps call around to find someone more agreeable and willing to take them off your hands. read more

Used to love that store. I went in today and couldn't believe what a PIT it has become. Dirty....desolate feeliing.... No more dollar day on Wednesday. All the clothes are sorted by COLOR. Who goes into a store and says....I'd like to see everything you have in blue, regardless of whether it fits me or not. read more

This Goodwill is a hit or miss. I feel like they could have more of a clothing selection. It's a smaller store, however I have gotten some really good finds! I got a Betsey Johnson Tote for $5, and a BRAND NEW pair of red Chuck Taylor High-tops for $3!! I normally wouldn't post about a thrift store that I like, the less people that know, the better for me! ;-P I do think this store could use more people coming in w/ donations so that's why I'm sharing. Used to be my go-to Goodwill until they recently changed their sorting system. Now all clothes are sorted by COLOR and not by size, which makes it difficult to find anything that fits. I won't be going back until they start sorting by size again. read more

I hadn't been to this Goodwill in awhile, and I'm shocked by how much the prices have gone up. Charging $5 for used (and often stained) t-shirts is simply insane, especially when one can purchase a brand new t-shirt for $5 (or less) at any number of retail establishments. Buying used, donated items at the Goodwill is supposed to be considerably cheaper than buying new items. I remember the good old days when I could purchase a giant garbage bag's worth of thrift store items for around $50. Today you can spent $50 only to walk out with a mere handful of used items, wondering where your hard-earned money just went (and why on earth you didn't just go to TJ Maxx or Walmart instead.) Prices like this really discourage people from buying used items to help conserve our planet's resources (one of the main reasons many of us choose to shop at the Goodwill), which means that less items will be recycled and kept out of the waste stream. What a shame. read more
