I knew if I would have gotten a cart in here I would have spent more than I should have, so I grabbed a basket (spoiler alert, the basket did nothing, I spent lots of money). Made it to the toys section as fast as I could to see what I could find that was still on the lists. Made quick work of this section. However, this is the first Target location I have been in that the toys were all the way in the back corner, furthest from the door. It threw me off when I came in and had no idea where anything was. But the holiday section was right next to the toys so that made finding the wrapping paper easy and I was on my way to wrapping it up here (no pun intended). Even though I had more than the ten items allowed for self checkout, the introvert in me took me that way. No way am I going to be talking to anyone unless I have to. The nicest thing to happen here was that the staff person working this area saw that I had wrapping paper and went and grabbed me a bigger bag for it to fit into. That's top notch customer service. I wasn't even thinking about this nor did I ask for it, but I really appreciated it.

If you count all the spaces that are occupied, whether it be by and actual store/restaurant or other type of business, you only have a total of 26 businesses in operation. One being a storage facility. The main reason we even entered the mall was because we wanted to go to Boscov's. It was easier than driving around to the more deserted part of the parking lot. However, after visiting Boscov's we did take one stroll around the mall. Did we stop in any of the stores, yes and no. More on that later. What we ended up doing was attempting to guess what empty storefronts used to be. Some were easy to identify, but others were a little to generic to pinpoint what once held shop. It was a bit eerie to walk the corridor, especially towards the end that had the indoor trampoline park. Unless you meant to come in on this end, there's really nothing there. What is weird about this mall is the amount of spaces that do not have an opening into the mall. If you are attempting to bring foot traffic back into the mall you are doing this all wrong. The Dollar Tree here is basically brand new but they completely boarded up where the mall entrance would be and put shelving in front of it. There is a sign inside indicating that this space is a DT, but if you want to go in, exit the mall. What is surprising is that there are a few restaurants that are kind of serving as anchors for this mall. Texas Roadhouse sticks out. The bad thing of it all, if they do decide to close up the mall portion down the road, what will happen to these places. More than likely, they will just close the doors and leave the area rather than relocate. I really hope that malls see a renaissance of some sort. These building are way to big to be sitting as empty as they are. It would be nice to see them at pre-pandemic rates. Full of options, however, this one might be on the way out.

Clearview Mall is a very standard mall, being one hallway with various anchors surrounding it. Anchors are best stores here, and include Dunham's, Boscov's, Rural King, and Altitude Trampoline Park. The former JCPenney and part of the former Sears remain vacant. The interior of the mall design wise is nice enough and clean, but there are almost no stores. Has a rare mall-based Texas Roadhouse. Somehow, with almost nothing in the mall, the Auntie Anne's remains open. Overall, I can't tell you a good reason to come shop here except for the anchors, and with the current store count, I can't be sure the interior of this mall will still be here in two years, much less five.

This was a...err...compliment to the mall it is attached to. The Clearview Mall in Butler is slowly…read moredying a death that has plagued a lot of malls. It has kind of made it's way over to this Boscov's location. Do I think Boscov's will close it's doors? No. Just look at their location in Frederick, MD. Do they need to improve this place? YES! This location is much like most of their locations, two-leveled and departments spread throughout, with their bargain auditorium as and added plus. That's why we came here. I always get a gag gift for whomever gets a gift from me. Boscov's auditorium is usually the best place to find off the wall items to throw in for a gag gift. Prices are usually lower than ticketed and sometimes, can be used practically. I went up and down each aisle in there and grabbed an arm full of items that ended up being less than $30 total. This is where the highlights end. The auditorium was located upstairs. Escalators going up were in fine working order. However, when we went to leave, the escalators going down were closed off for repairs. Next logical place to go would be to the elevator. Make our way to the elevator only to find that it just decided to quit working. A lady had gotten into it and hit the button for it to move only for it to not close its doors and not move. It kind of felt like we were trapped here. But there was a sign that pointed you towards the customer service area stating "Stairs". We get there and start following the signs. The signs lead you to a door that says "Emergency Exit: Alarm will sound." Thinking that this was in the Customer Service area and there being a counter here you would have someone direct you what to do. However, no one was manning the counter and there we were, a group of people, confused with what we were to do next. I decided that I would take the chance at pushing the door open. Glad I did, or we would have been standing there in our confusion for a while. When I opened the door there was another sign pointing down indicating that we were to go this way. This led us to the back of the store, kind of where the staff breakroom was and where they housed the backstock. We get to the bottom and start following the signs to indicate where we would get back to the sales floor. Only to be met with a door like upstairs. We weren't sure if this would take us out to the salesfloor or outside. Pushed it open and we were back on the salesfloor. You know what would have solved this problem easier and not caused confusion. Turn the power off to the up escalator and allow people to use them as...wait for it...stairs. It was a total inconvenience to all customers to be led on a wild goose chase with no guide. Plus I'm pretty sure this could be considered a hassle, especially to someone that might not be capable of using the stairs. Hopefully it is fixed by now, but who knows. If you find yourself in this situation, and this is probably the only time you can do this, ignore the warning signs.

As a member of a nonprofit organization, I volunteered to offer Boscov Friends Helping Friends shopping passes at this store in return for the customer's $5 donation to the nonprofit. I talked to many customers; people told me they drive a long distance to shop at this location; for example, shoppers were there from Clarion, PA and other locations along Rt 80. I ended up getting a Boscov's credit card and shopping there several times earlier this year because I was so impressed with the variety of merchandise and the low prices.
