I lucked out because there was a massive sales promotion today. It's hard to get misled on pricing when a posted sign says everything in the store was just $2. Must have been some sort of merchandise clearance deal or something similar. Anyway, as I walked around the store I noticed things were super neat and organized. The store was crowded, especially their tiny parking lot which was maxed out so we had to park on the mulched lawn on the side of the driveway. I was sifting through the men's section, almost bought two long sleeve white shirts but they were a few sizes too big for me. And that's when my eyes settled on a nice light gray/light green Joseph A. Bank suit. A suit for $2!!!!!! It needs to be altered, but I'm thinking I'll still come out way ahead on the deal. My wife also bought a nice coat for $2. The sales ladies were personable and funny, and I had a great time kibitzing with them. All sales proceeds go to charity, and that's a nice touch.

Friend to Friend Thrift Shop is a small thrift shop located in a residential neighborhood in East…read moreGranby. If there were no signs outside, I would think it's another house on the street. They are open three days a week for a few hours. There are three older ladies who work here. All sales go towards the East Granby food pantry. Inside is one room filled with stuff. The clothes all look very worn, as do the shoes. One of the employees came up to me and told me, if I like anything we can make a deal. She also told me all shoes are $5.00, buy one get one free. That's a bargain. They have some dishes, some home decor items, and some little figurines. Nothing stood out to me. Until I saw, these brand new Keds purple sneakers. I tried them on, they fit and I brought them to the register. That same lady who earlier told me the shoes were "buy one get one free, at $5.00 each". She reminded me of the sale, and told me I could get another pair for free. I told her, "that's ok. I only found one pair." Well, her colleague who obviously heard everything told me they are $20.00. I wasn't going to argue, so I left. I think their business policy is awful. I understand the proceeds go towards the food pantry, which is a wonderful cause. I don't appreciate their lack of honesty towards the customer.

But as loaded as it was, it was very well organized and very neat, so shopping and browsing was a real pleasure. They consign an extensive range of Junior & Women's clothing, household Items, home décor, artwork, fine and costume jewelry, silver & gold handbags, shoes, scarves & accessories, small wood furniture, books, CD's, DVD's, gifts, and collectibles. They recently introduced men's clothing to their selection, though currently, their men's inventory is limited to around a dozen outerwear coats and a few colorful bicycle racing jerseys. I also saw a nice selection of soaps, cosmetics, personal care and pet care items. One cool thing I spotted among their collection of sealed party games, was one titled "Fact or Crap." It was definitely a fun place to browse in.

I saw racks and racks of men's and women's clothing, shoes, accessories, footwear, household goods, dishes, and kitchen equipment in the front of the store. In the back of the store were CD's, record albums, thousands of books, collectibles and pretty much everything. I even saw three Pez dispensers with likenesses of former presidents. Much of the inventory is what I'd call vintage, which is a code word for "old". Those items may not be for everyone, but if you're into old dishes, bric a brac, dolls, China, wall hangings, glassware, jewelry, furniture, and lamps, well Favarh might just be what you're looking for. Today was 50% off day, and I scooped up two ties marked at $2 each for a grand total of $2.13. You might find a thrift store out there with better quality merchandise, but I'm not sure you'll find one with as much stuff as I saw here. And since their proceeds go to charity, it's well worth your time to check out their stock and see what bargains appeal to you.

The employees there are volunteers. Once I walked in, it looked like a boutique. Clothes, shoes, and cutlery/china were in the front area. Everything was organized by size and color. I immediately found a Vineyard Vines sweater that I loved for $12. They have sales based on color of the day/week; I would ask the employee for that information. In the back section, they had household items, books, and miscellaneous items. You can also sign up for their free rewards card; you gain points from every purchase and that adds up for future discounts. Overall, a great thrift store and I look forward to shopping there.

This review is specifically about consigning as the owner is very nice and prices are great…read more I was shocked, however, when I took a few items in to consign as every other consignment shop I've dealt with gives pricing and payout when items are dropped off. This place takes your items, has you sign them over, and then sends a receipt telling the consigner what the item will be listed for and potential payout. My instinct was to take my items back as that made no sense to me, and I take responsibility for not taking my things and leaving. To find out that, as per their website, the new unworn and unused items worth hundreds retail would garner an average of $9.00 per piece was stunning. I would much prefer to donate to someone who could really use the item rather than get less than $10.00 for a dress that retails for $150 and was never worn. Lesson learned. I'm selling online from now on.

And they're very snotty besides Their policy should include letting us know when this is going to happen. They've been in business long enough to upgrade their systems. No wonder they're doing so well.

I found the prices to be extremely fair, and I walked away very happy with my purchases. Plus, they take credit (I'm realizing this is relatively rare in the Pioneer Valley/Western Mass). I have nothing but good things to say about this shop -- and I reckon I'll be back within a few days to make one piece in particular (a true stunner, though I can't say what it is) my own.
