You drive up, drop off your stuff, tell them your zip code and they give you a dated tax receipt (that you fill out yourself).

All in great condition and thoughtfully displayed. It's clear there is pride in keeping the store tidy and curated. Fun and easy place to browse--good selection of unique dish-ware for such a small store. I'll definitely be back!

Was meeting with a friend in the area but had some time to kill so I stopped by "Upscale Thrift"…read morewhich was nearby. Figured I could browse their paperbacks and grab a book to read while I waited. There were some clothes racks outside their front entrance which I glanced at briefly. Definitely did not appear "upscale" as their name suggests. But I figured maybe inside would be better. Walked past the dresses section by the door and looked at pricing. Each item is individually priced, which is understandable for small businesses like this. But to price a simple dress for $25 that you'd find at Goodwill for maybe $8-10 seemed a little too steep. Other items seemed more fairly priced for a thrift store, like $5-6 for a top. I'm all about supporting local businesses so I figured I'd find a book or something small to purchase and be on my way. I was in the store probably 2 minutes tops when an older guy said to me, "Excuse me!" I thought he was a customer so I said "Yes?" Was bracing myself for a strange conversation since you never know what to expect when a random person starts talking to you. Had no idea he worked there. He then tells me that I'll need to check my bag at the front counter. I was in disbelief. I was just carrying a simple handbag, no huge tote or backpack. Just my normal purse that I carry everywhere and have never been stopped. I was so surprised by his request that the first thing I said was, "Me?" Like I was shocked that he would even think I'd try to shoplift or something. I guess they have shoplifting issues since there is a sign on their front door about checking in backpacks and large bags. But I didn't think it applied to me since I was just carrying a purse/handbag that's not considered large. I told the guy, "I'll just leave then" and I walked out. I was in disbelief that a thrift store that sells unwanted donated items that are not even "upscale" is having people check in their bags. I would not trust them to watch my purse at the counter, so why would I check it in? Just a bad sign when you walk into a business and want to support them but end up being made to feel like a potential shoplifter. Perhaps if the guy had been very apologetic and said it was a store policy that they have to enforce with everyone, then I wouldn't have been so taken aback. It's a thrift store. I get it that you're trying to make some money by stopping potential shoplifters, but this business needs to rethink how they approach first time customers. Not a good experience. Plenty of local businesses to support that treat their customers better.

I will begin by stating that I appreciate the services that Snowline Thrift supports. I believe…read morethey likely make an important impact in the lives of the people they serve. For the thrift shop itself, they have a wide assortment of items available for sale. Home items, clothing, music, etc. I feel that some things are priced well, while others are overpriced. For instance, they had a power wheelchair in the shop priced at $4,000. I work in the wheelchair industry, so I understand that this chair has value, however, this wheelchair also has a repair history as noted on the back of the chair. For a thrift shop that has a mission of supporting families through such difficult times, I would hope that they would make the pricing on durable medical equipment more accessible to those who truly need it. This is a custom power chair, meaning it won't be a perfect fit for whoever buys it. There would likely need to be modifications and potential repairs, which would be even more out of pocket cost for the family. Other than that, spend time looking around at what else is offered. I liked looking through the home decor.

I happily support this non-profit and Community based thrift store by actively collecting gently used clothing every opportunity I have. I am grateful to the employees and volunteers who manage and maintain this business. All proceeds go to Snowline Hospice's Supportive Care and Children's Grief Programs. So worthy in my opinion. Dropping off whatever you may have to donate is easy and simple. You do not even have to leave your vehicle. Employees will come to your car. I just automatically pop open my trunk and they remove the items. Easy peasy. Should you want a receipt for tax purposes... it will be provided at that time. As well as a 10% discount type coupon you may use in the thrift store. It is a win win for everyone. Please consider donating whatever you may no longer need for such a wonderful organization. And, of course, purchases from the store are the backbone of securing the much needed monetary proceeds necessary to fund the programs. Thank you.

I explained that I could no longer attend because I needed to be present for the funeral and ceremony, but my request was still denied. What made the experience worse was that Dave Wilkerson, Director of ACAI Studios & Gallery, personally doubled down on the decision despite the circumstances. A policy is one thing, but compassion and basic humanity should still matter. Being treated this rigidly during a family loss was honestly upsetting and disappointing. I would not recommend supporting an organization that responds this way to someone dealing with a bereavement emergency. Would you want to be treated this way after losing a family member?
