This is a public gym with many many classes and services. Their training staff is generally top notch. For example, 1 instructor won a world triathlon championship, another has qualified for and competed in the Iron Man Championship in Hawaii. I live nearby and have come to this rec center for over 20 years. Our children, now grown, participated in many classes, camps and teams through Goodson. My husband and I still attend fitness classes / gym workouts on a regular basis. I have had very few, if any, bad experiences here. (I do agree that the pool is purposely cooler for adults that want a work out. I wonder if they could raise the temperature in the afternoons for swim classes.) I find the staff helpful and the instructors and trainers well experienced and good at instructions. They are patient and kind. Is this a state-of-the-art gym or pool? Probably not. Is it clean and are their offerings expansive at a decent price? I think so, and I will continue coming. read more

First visit here, to watch my son play basketball In a playoff game, and hopefully the finals (spoiler alert: they won the championship.) This is an older rec center, definitely not as new or glitzy as Lone Tree, but it's clean and decently equipped. I didn't get a chance to explore the whole building, but I did see a workout room and inclusive rest rooms. The overall impression is "basic." Cleanliness and friendly staff earned four stars, although the basketball buzzer is jarring and very loud. The bleacher seats are typical. If I can give it a 0 star I would very poor costume service and very rude my family tried to enjoy Memorial Day weekend here and was told to leave do to having small children because it's not a kid friendly pool. That most of the "people that are there are older and don't like a lot of loud sounds " this was told by the lifeguard on duty. When we noticed another family walked in around the same time as us with even smaller children and nothing was told to them. I hate to say it was a racist thing but it was clear we were not wanted there. read more

There cover photo is that this place is a gym, and if that's what you're looking for this should be your last choice. This is a preschool, daycare, community center... but should be your last choice in the area for a gym. First, free weights and machines are in two separate rooms. The free weight room is small for what's in there and limited (1 squat rack, 1 bench, etc). Of the machines I used, 2 of the 3 were in need of repair. The above aide, what compounds that at this location is the larger number of teenagers running around unattended. Most gyms would have rules against using a weight training area as free daycare for teens, but not here. If you workout here in the afternoon it is guaranteed you will run into someone sitting on a machine so that he can talk to his friend that is inevitable on his 5 min break between sets. Worse, with teens running around you can expect to come back to a locker that some bored teen took upon themselves to put a lock on top of your lock, and the staff are equipped to check you in and nothing more. Again, if you have any understanding of what it is to worship at a temple of iron, this is NOT the place for you. read more

Great place for all! They have a friendly staff and offer unlimited options for working out. Even pottery classes! Really clean nice place!

I've been coming here for my swimming classes. My instructor, Peter, was extremely patient with the class and encouraging. It was a great value for the classes and I was very impressed with the staff. I'll have to come back and try some other classes here. They also have a massage studio which I want to give a try. I did take one star away because on weekday around 6 parking can be tough and the facilities would benefit from a face lift. read more

The staff was efficient in directing me to the correct Conference Room for my scheduled CPR class. The room was neat and organized.

My son is taking swim lessons here and so far it's been a pleasant experience. There seems to be a lot offered here, and it's a nice facility. One thing to note. Specifically for the pool. I've seen people not complying to wearing masks at the pool. I get that it sucks to wear a mask at the pool. However it needs to be enforced by the staff. It's not fair to everyone else following the rules/law. read more

My son has enjoyed the preschool swim lessons here, though the COVID protocols are lacking. Masks are technically required but many parents completely ignore the rules and no one bothers to enforce them. Been coming to Goodson with my family for years. Have done parties here at the gymnastics area, tumble tots, pottery classes, golf lessons, soccer training camps, swim lessons, wave riders swim club, You name it. Facility is outdated and parking is an issue on weeknights. The lifeguards are high schoolers on a power trip. They love to yell and shout at kids. As a parent I know you can hold boundaries and rules while still being kind. Kids 5 and under aren't allowed in the hot tub, even with a parent. Not a very family friendly pool in my opinion. Sewage was backing up into the pool area during a wave riders practice and the smell was intolerable. I had my sister/kids nanny take the kids into a swim lane during open swim to practice their flip turns for swim team and they wanted to kick her out for 'teaching a lesson'. The pool compared to highlands ranch pools is much colder. Kids come out with blue lips. I asked about the temp and the front desk said the seniors prefer it colder. Again - senior friendly sure. I pulled my kiddo from swim lessons as she was a shaking shivering mess and asked for a prorated refund, it was not honored. Family friendly? Not in my experience. 2 stars as other areas besides the pool were quality and staff besides the pool staff lifeguards was decent. I'm on the hunt for a new Rec center to spend my money. read more

This rec center is amazing. My son uses the pool and we used the preschool for two of our grandsons. We have done swimming lessons and some camps and I am even thinking about some golf lessens. We have always had great customer service and the employees are always warm and welcoming. Today we ran into a problem for the very first time. My husband was asking about punch cards to take the grand kids swimming and did not understand about youth punch cards. The girl was not warm and must have gotten frustrated because she was very rude. My husband asked to talk to the manager and she told him she was the "manager". I do not understand how someone who has absolutely no customer service skills can be in such a position. She sits at the front desk on her phone. While Goodson is an older rec center compared to few others in the area, it is definitely clean and not as crowded. Best of all, it doesn't smell like sweat nor is echoing with screaming kids. And that, my friend, is a 2 thumbs up in my book! read more

If you're looking for a place to workout that has pretty much everything you need, including a pool, then Goodson Rec Center is a good choice. They are open early (@5AM) and have all the typical gym equipment. The rec center also offers a wide variety of classes, including spinning, aquatics, etc. They also have personal training, dietitian, and periodic blood screening services. Lots of other activities are also available, such as ceramics classes, holiday parties, and teen dances. Memberships are reasonable and they typical run a special around Thanksgiving where you can get either 10 or 15% off the annual membership. You have to live in the South Suburban district to be able to join, but that district is pretty large. Membership allows access to all South Suburban rec centers, discounts on other district resources, such as golf courses. All in all, a pretty good deal. read more

I'm pretty much writing about an event they have on the 2nd friday of the month for kids 3-12. MOVIE NIGHT!! However, we do use this place for preschool as well as the gym, which I have nothing bad to say about that part! But this is a GREAT event to get 3 hours on a Friday night to yourself. It's $15 per child (district rate, $20 non-dist), which includes the movie, cartoons, popcorn, animal crackers, delivery pizza and juice. An AWESOME deal! It can get a little crazy when it's time to drop off, since a lot of parents take advantage of this, so show up early. The kids LOVED IT, so much so when I went to pick them up, my daughter cried cause she wanted to finish watching Scooby Doo. They can't wait to go next month!!! I think this will be a new regular thing for us, which helps the husband and I commit to a date night for ourselves! read more

I grew up at this rec center and I'm not just talking about going there throughout my youth. Seriously, I've been through some ish at this place. Goodson Rec has always been a friendly, well-staffed rec center with all the amenities one could ask for. Basketball, racquetball, volleyball, weights, swimming, gymnastics, etc. They offer a wide range of classes on topics from personal fitness to ceramics. I had a spark to start swimming again and Goodson had a masters swim team. I now am a well trained swimmer practicing between 3-4 organized practices a week. Melanie, my coach, is one of the fine individuals who works at Goodson and she deserves every penny she earns. This is true for the other fine employees of this wonderful place. They have activities for everybody of all ages. Unfortunately, working out is costly these days and I spend at least $20 per week to use this facility. They do have monthly passes as well as yearly commitments. If you don't live in the district it can be even more steep. I will say one more thing. I don't find it appealing when a bunch of old men shower naked together. I've been in a speedo for 21 years of my life and when I get done with practice, I leave my suit on. Old men should keep theirs on too. Ugh read more

Welcoming facility with a great staff, a non-intimidating place to work out. My only gripe is that promoted fitness classes are frequently cancelled, and the front desk usually does not know. I have sat in empty rooms before waiting for classes. I have also had to go ask the front desk where a certain class was being held (per their schedule) and they didn't know. A little frustrating when you try to follow a strict gym regimen, but the staff is friendly so it's okay. My son loves the play area (childcare) and the pool. I've been going here for years, starting with swimming lessons and birthday parties at a young age, and I still go here to work out. They have great amenities including a wide variety of weight and cardio machines, free weights, personal training, kids' nights, a track, a basketball court, two pools (kiddie and lap), and free computer usage, as well as a huge amount of classes that range from Zumba to ceramics/art. There are two spacious hot tubs in the pool area as well as in the locker rooms. The staff is always friendly, upbeat, and helpful. In-district rates are reasonable and passes are available, bringing the price down even more. No annoying contracts either! read more

I used to play pickleball at Goodson on Friday evenings. But it got too crowded, and the staff would vacate one of the courts for one basketball player while 10-15 people were waiting to play pickleball. The staff was really surly and unreasonable, like government employees, which apparently they are. read more

Pool only has a few lanes for swimming laps but has very nice instructors and lifeguards. Has a nice gym setup and a basketball court and a gymnastics area. It can be hard to find parking the lot is always full. read more

I enjoyed my recent visit here. A friend brought me with her to try her yoga class, and I was pretty impressed with the center overall - especially since I'd had no idea it was there! It's a huge facility with many separate classrooms. The yoga class was in a smallish space, but there was plenty of room for all the students. There was relaxing music and the light was low. The instructor was very good; you could tell he is very experienced with yoga because of his flexibility and his use of all the correct terminology for the poses. The exercises he chose were a great balance between flexibility and strength for me. I enjoyed the class a lot! I left feeling very limber and relaxed. The locker rooms where we changed were also nice; I noticed there were plenty of private showers and even a hot tub. Once my gym membership expires, I might consider getting a membership here! read more

Outstanding facility. I run on the Highline Canal from here every morning, then sit in the steam room and shower before work. Super clean facilities and very friendly staff. The workout equipment looks fairly new and I haven't taken any classes, but the schedule looks interesting. And there's a snack bar with coffee, breakfast, and snacks. read more

Encountered very poor customer service. Found the staff on duty lacking in pleasantries and helpfulness. Following a phone call and lengthy drive, desk clerk informed us that their admin office was closed on weekends, hence they could not process our Silver Sneakers registration for use of the facility that day. We had brought our SS cards and photo ID's, but a later call to the supervisor on duty affirmed the same, 'rules-are-rules' dismissive attitude. Funny, we've encountered nothing but helpful, inviting staff at four other area rec centers, and desk personnel were able to "register" us immediately, regardless of the admin office's hours. Viewing some of the other reviews of this facility's questionable cleanliness issues in addition to this experience makes us leery of this facility and certain members of its staff. read more

I'm writing this review from the perspective of taking my child here for a toddler gymnastics class, as well as a view on the overall facility. OK, this place is a rec center. I get it. It's not meant to be like some high end spa-like club facility. That being said.....the bathrooms are disgusting. Mold / mildew, water everywhere, musty smell, hair in all the sinks, dirty water / footprints in all of the stalls, cracked tile, etc. In the gymnastics room all the way in the back of the facility, it REEKS like mold. I cringe to even think of when the last time was they did a full, deep clean of the facility. My daughter kept asking me what the smell was..."honey, it's sweat and mold." "What's mold, Mom?" "Its when something gets wet / sweaty, and it's never cleaned. So a fungus, plant-like thing grows on it and it's bad to breathe." "Why are we here?" GOOD QUESTION! Again, I appreciate this is a rec center, but there needs to be a baseline of cleanliness and health standards. I add more than one star b/c the do have a variety of classes for children, and it provides activities for parents / kids to do together. That being said, we are no longer going to the class, and we have chosen to enroll in a gym class at another facility which has much higher cleanliness standards. read more

Worked out yesterday at Goodson, walking on the track and using the spa in the pool area. The floor and stairs around the spa were pretty dirty and in need of repair. OK, it was the weekend so I can cut them a break on cleanup. But then I took a shower - GROSS - mildew in the shower area that had obviously been there awhile. My granddaughters, ages 6 and 8 yrs old, took four sets of gymnastic classes at this facility. The girls' instructors were teenagers, who usually seemed very bored with their job. My granddaughters never progressed beyond "Beginner". Very little time is given to individual students, because the classes are so large. I may take my girls back to this gym, but only if I can arrange private lessons with an energetic instructor. Some of the male instructors for the boys gymnastic classes seemed much more dedicated...Also their classes were usually smaller in number. read more
