Had a hankering for BBQ. Stopped in for the first time today. The food was really delicious. Smokey and tender. Macaroni salad was on point. Give it a try. Not maybe BBQ spots in the area. Indoors was super clean and customer service was great!

Goodland BBQ has been on my list of places to get Great food. Today is the day to have Lunch at the Goodland. What a Treat I Love BBQ! I was Greeted picked out a booth. The place is warm and comfortable. She was busy on the phone. I spoke with the cook setting up the lunch line. Turns out it's Edward we worked together driving bus at MTD. It was Great catching up. My food arrived accompanied by a Modelo. I got the combo plate with pork ribs brisket and pulled pork. My sides were potato salad and chili beans. Added sauce seals the deal. Half the food is going home another meal a Thanks Goodland for a Great experience! Goleta/ Santa Barbara, this place is the one the best lets continue to show our love and support for this superb Eatery Ronnie S

Food 8/10 - Food was flavorful, warm, tasty, salty, sweet, BBQ tangy, with a hint of spice. Service Amber helped me out right away For my one meat plate, i was torn between brisket and pulled pork and she explained brisket would be more fatty and pulled pork would be more sweet. She offered BBQ sauce on the side - which turned out DELICIOUS. I love their BBQ sauce!! Ambiance Inside is booth seating, not the most glamorous but it'll do if you're like me, just looking to scarf down a plate of some gooood BBQ. Ooh yeah and don't forget the Chili Beans which included all the meats they have in it! Support Local @GOODLANDBBQ @cityofgoleta #goleta #goodland #santabarbara

Stopped by Goodland for some lunch and was not disappointed. The woman at the counter was extremely helpful with the menu since it was my first time. I got pork belly tacos and a side of their smoked mac and cheese... the pork was exceptional. Also my friend got some tri tip and I think it's been the best, most tender cut I've had since moving to the Santa Barbara area last winter. So damn good! I noticed DoorDash and GrubHub drivers coming and going and a constant flow of people in and out which tells me a) other people enjoy it and b) I can get it delivered to my house! which definitely will do.

I'm giving Goodland BBQ 5 stars simple for how good the food is. In the Santa Barbara area good Tri tip is pretty much the only consistent kind of "bbq" you can get. Here the beef ribs and hot links were amazing, the Mac and cheese and seasoned fries hit the spot as well. I'm not really a fan of beans but I have to admit their chili beans side that comes with the combo plates are really good too. A few cons are the small options of sides compared to the "extras". There's only four side options you can choose for a combo plate, there's an extra charge of $2.50 to switch a "side" for and "extra" but some of the extra cost the same as a side. Given the similar price it would be nice if those could also be a side choice. Plus the credit card processing fee of $1.79 is passed on to you so I'd recommend paying with cash, side note to that they don't accept bills over 50. Besides those two issues, I really enjoyed the food and look forward to trying it again.

We waited until they had been open for a while to work out the kinks and to avoid the long lines waiting to try the new place. Maybe we should have waited longer. I had the chicken plate. The chicken was well smoked but somehow bland at the same time. The beans were full of everything (meat, onions, etc.) except flavor. Her brisket was bland, too. Potato salad? Bland. Coleslaw? Bland. Cornbread? Bland and a bit stale. The garlic bread was greasy but did have a little flavor. It was on the pricey side, even for the area. Staff was friendly enough, especially considering how busy they were. The most positive thing was the variety of choices on the menu. Overall though, it was a disappointment.

I really debated on the stars. I would've done three stars but I think that there is potential so feel comfortable with four. The prices were very reasonable and in line. That is refreshing these days! The brisket was good, very flavorful and the chili beans were awesome! I am a huge coleslaw fan and this was flat; just some salt or something to give it any kind of spark or flavor is needed. The potato salad was equally boring. Everybody working there seemed really nice. I don't mind plain furnishings. The news playing in the main dining room was a bit of a bummer on a Saturday at lunchtime. As I said at the top of the review, I think it has potential with just a few tweaks. Ramp up the flavors a little bit and make it a bit more welcoming.

Rare tri-tip is the best I have eaten anywhere. Possibly the best beef I've eaten. Great potato salad and pineapple coleslaw.

Our experience was overall pretty good. I did feel the servers checking in and attention to us could have been better. There were long periods of time where he didn't check in with us. We sat outside and it was not that busy. The inside was open. The servers were very sweet as were the hostesses. The cinnamon bun for the table was good as well. Now for the bad. They had a ton of runners yet we couldn't get them to give us water no matter how much we asked for it. It took forever just to get our drinks. When my friend asked for some hot sauce for her food, bloody Mary mix was brought over in a ramekin. Having bartender a while back, I know clam juice when I taste it. And I was having a bloody Mary and it tasted exactly the same. Not to mention the fact it was very watery and it tasted like straight fire. I love hot sauce, but this had no finesse and it wasn't hot sauce. She asked for it again and she got the same thing. She needed hot sauce because the food really was not seasoned. I got avocado toast and I had to salt and pepper the hell out of that thing. Her hollandaise was bland and my friends clam chowder tasted like nothing. It was just like food out of a retirement community. I want to go back to the fact that the servers were really sweet. I don't discount that and they did hire nice people. But when you have that many runners and servers, the service should be better. And they really need to start using a little salt and pepper on their food. When you have prices like that people expect more.

I got the Norwegian salmon sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. The salmon was perfectly cooked and delicious. I like the bread they use and the tomatoes have some tasty seasoning on them. There wasn't a lot of arugula but a perfect amount of sauce as to not overwhelm the salmon. It wasn't a super packed or fancy sandwich but very good. The sweet potato fries were on the thin side but good and a nice amount. The potato chips that come standard with the meal are DELICIOUS! We got some churros to go. This visit was unfortunately our worst experience there by far. It was the first time we'd sat in the dining room instead of the bar. It was early - around 5:00. The happy hour buffalo chicken sliders and Brussels sprouts were good. However, things went downhill with our entrees. My tri-tip dinner (ordered medium rare) arrived as two thin slices of medium rare covering three slices of gray, well-done meat underneath. It was tough and tasted old - it seemed like the kitchen was trying to hide poor quality, overcooked meat. My partner's ribeye was cooked to the right temperature but extremely gristly - only about half of the twelve ounces was actually edible. When I sent my tri-tip back, our server (who was genuinely trying to help) returned to say they were out of tri-tip and a new one would take 45 minutes. By then my partner was halfway through his steak. I asked to just have the meat removed and I'd just eat my sides. Here's where it went from bad to worse: the manager (owner's daughter) charged us $7 each for the sides as "à la carte" items and argued when I explained I only ate them because that's all I had. She eventually offered 50% off the entrée but her confrontational attitude made things worse. The owner was more understanding when we escalated it to her, but the damage was done. Our server did her best in a tough situation - the issues were with the kitchen and management's handling of the problem. Really heartbroken about this experience at a place we've loved. We'll probably try again someday but will stick to burgers and salads at the bar.

On top of that, the ingredients were distributed completely unevenly between the two halves. I literally had to take both halves apart and redistribute everything myself just to make it edible. Nothing about this felt fresh. I also swapped the "house-made chips" for tater tots -- which turned out to be the exact Ore-Ida frozen tots you buy at the grocery store, and even worse... they were undercooked and mushy. I am willing to bet I just paid $16 for about $2.50 worth of ingredients. For $16, this was not just underwhelming -- it was bad, REAL BAD. Do NOT order this sandwich.
