The store is so cute! The mix of nostalgic candy, rare finds, antiques, ice cream, coffee, and bulk items can be overwelming, but in a positive way. It is almost like a candy / treat store and a museum all in one. On this trip, I got some coffee sample packets for my husband's Easter basket, a frappe for each of us, and a couple of candies for the household. The shop is bursting with products, so the aisles are a bit tight for passing people stopped to check out the fun products. Caledonia is a charming little village with shops, eats, and several outdoor adventures in the area.

When we visited, it was decorated for Christmas, giving it a cozy, vintage holiday vibe. The shelves were filled with childhood candies (even candy cigarettes). They also have an impressive selection of coffees from around the world -- and the prices are refreshingly reasonable. The handmade ice cream bar is a must-try. We ordered an ice cream flight with five samples, perfect for sharing since we couldn't decide on just one of the many delicious flavors. The assortment of chocolates looked amazing too. Upstairs, you can stroll through a collection of antiques that add even more charm to the place. We really enjoyed our visit -- it's a place that makes you slow down, take it all in, and maybe leave with a few extra treats you didn't plan on.

I had a packet of Chocolate Covered Pretzels and another packet containing a Chocolate Covered Oreo. Typically I was a glass of cold milk with my Oreo, but this one from the Candy Factory was perfect just being dipped in chocolate. The pretzels gave me a nice mix of savory and sweet. The two pack had one dipped in Milk Chocolate and another in, White Chocolate. I surprised myself, by liking the White Chocolate best. It seemed to have a sweeter taste, which went well with the salty pretzel. While out exploring downtown Columbia, I stopped by to give their Chocolate Covered Strawberries a tasting. OMG - so good. The chocolate shell had a good crunch and the berry was super juicy. I feel bad that I did not, take a picture of the deliciousness. The customer service was attentive and the associates were eager to recommend their favorites. If you love chocolate, you gotta stop by Candy Factory.

We've been shopping here for years for ourselves and for gift giving and have never been disappointed. For the quality, the prices are not too bad either, you have the option to either buy individual items or order by the pound (around $20 a pound last I checked). The service is always friendly and helpful, and the store is nice and cozy. Highly recommended!

It's the largest on Rte. 66, second largest in the U.S.! Fun to see. (On a brighter note, the chair is the biggest on Route 66...) But be sure to stop at the Fanning store. The woman working behind the counter wasn't very friendly, and I was hoping to meet the owners but they took the day off. But there are plenty of great souvenirs here, and arguably the best selection of Route 66 souvenirs in Missouri. Whatever it is you collect, they probably have it. Lots of different fudge to choose from. Oh, and no shortage of sodas as there are lots, I mean lots of different flavors and brands. It's safe to say that it rivals Pop's in Arcadia, Oklahoma. I heard they also sold Route 66 knives, but I wasn't able to find them. Maybe somebody already did. In the back of the store, there's a Rural King-type place in the back. As you're headed to the west, leaving Cuba, be sure to stop here. You won't regret it. I promise!

They were packaged in a variety of sizes, from snack to sharing. In addition to all sorts of edible goodies for people, they had a selection of dog treats as well. They also had an area devoted to Missouri made products, many of them made right there in Washington. Being addicted to jalapeños, I could not resist purchasing a couple jars of jelly. In addition to the nuts, they specialize in gift baskets. The ones on display were very impressive. In addition to the food items, they have cute gifts items, like coasters, napkins and witty signs to complete the gift. The owner was extremely friendly and gave us pointers on where else to shop, drink and eat as we explored her historical town. Will I return? - Next time I'm in WashMO. I found myself in need of roughly 10 gift baskets for some clients, and the owner Barb was more than accomodating. I asked if I could include wine and cheese with the baskets (which they didn't sell) and not only was it not a problem, but she picked the items up for me and let me pay her for them when I picked up the baskets! Now that's good customer service. =) This would be a great place to wrap up your holiday gift-giving needs when you get to the people that are impossible to buy for, or to supply a party you're having with some "grab a handful" type food.
