This was probably one of the best stores on the route we stopped in. A good selection and very nice staff.

Love this place! This is our second time here on our Rte. 66 journeys and we found the staff so helpful both times. There are 2 murals outside and, of course, the giant rocking chair. It's the largest on Rte. 66, second largest in the U.S.! Fun to see. We bought 2 flavors of popcorn (white cheddar and dill pickle), so many flavors of fudge that I forget, several bottles of cola (vintage Dr. Pepper and several Route 66 flavors) and a Rte. 66 lapel pin. As you may already know, this is where the "World's 2nd Largest Rocking Chair" is located, which is just to the left of the place. (On a brighter note, the chair is the biggest on Route 66...) But be sure to stop at the Fanning store. The woman working behind the counter wasn't very friendly, and I was hoping to meet the owners but they took the day off. But there are plenty of great souvenirs here, and arguably the best selection of Route 66 souvenirs in Missouri. Whatever it is you collect, they probably have it. Lots of different fudge to choose from. Oh, and no shortage of sodas as there are lots, I mean lots of different flavors and brands. It's safe to say that it rivals Pop's in Arcadia, Oklahoma. I heard they also sold Route 66 knives, but I wasn't able to find them. Maybe somebody already did. In the back of the store, there's a Rural King-type place in the back. As you're headed to the west, leaving Cuba, be sure to stop here. You won't regret it. I promise! read more

Well, it's a big chair a little over a mile off the road but if you're traveling old Route 66, you'll need a break. Thank goodness for GPS and a roadside attraction download or I would have missed the Worlds Tallest Rocking Chair! Oh, there's alos a small convenient store surrounded by a large shop containing the last piece you need to finalize the divorce. The souvenir shop is chocked full with 66 garb and such but the surprise is the massive, indoor archery range. A surprising twist to a roadside attraction. Pull over, stretch your legs then get back in the car and drive on. read more

I just love love love things from the past and just kind of quirky. So, while out hiking In some of Missouri's wonderful state parks we saw a sign about the rocker and I just had had had to stop. I remember hearing stories and reading about all of the different tourist sites along Rt 66 to give people an excuse to pull over and stretch their legs... SO even though that was NOT the case with us..I had to stop... Yes it is the Largest Rocker that I have ever seen. There is a large gift shop slash store with snacks and drinks. We walked around the rocker and took some photos. I was reading some of the other feedbacks and reviews..and I loved the fact that one family got a new motto...I didn't get to meet the woman with the Moonshine samples...wish she had been there we definitely would have drank a little shot of Moonshine...lol !!!! read more

I was traveling on the old Route 66 & made a stop In Fanning, MO at the Fanning 66 Outpost General Store. It is the Home of the Largest Rocking Chair on Route 66. It makes for a great photo op! It stands 42 feet tall & 20 feet wide. I really liked this General Store. It sold a great variety of Route 66 merchandise. They also have flavored popcorn, glass-bottled sodas, fudge & other candy. I loved this General Store. It was warm & inviting. I also loved the painted murals on the sides of the building! If you are near Fanning, Mo or you are taking a road trip on the Mother Road, This is a stop that shouldn't be missed. read more

Yes, it's a rocking chair, but it's a pretty cool thing to go check out. The lady was very nice and she said every 1st Saturday in August, they have a scissor lift, so people can go up on the chair. They sell souvenirs and they have beer too. I told her, I'm going to bring a six pack and sit up on the chair and drink. read more

The 10,000 sq ft building holds a general store with unique 66 gifts you won't find anywhere else on the route. This place was BOOMING on an early Saturday morning in September, there was some archery going on outside and there were aprox. 100 people standing there, talking and drinking. The gift-shop was fun too, they had all kinds of route 66 stuff we didn't see anywhere else. The girl behind the counter asked if we wanted some moonshine but it was a bit too early for us, her answer was 'How y'all gonna be drunk all day when you don't start early". Visited on a Saturday (12/5 4PM) and the place was closed. A big, blue, ugly plastic tarp was hanging on the rocker, so it wasn't even worth a photo op. read more

This was a pretty neat place. The store has some homemade jams and locally grown produce. It is all a bit pricey though. The rocking chair is enormous and fun to see once. There is an archery shop and range attached to the back of the convenience store. I believe they do taxidermy as well there. It was worth stopping to see once. Don't need to do it again. read more
