Kelsey let me know part way through the day that one of the recommended repairs was not required, but a different fix would be needed. Kelsey and the Good News team managed the change in plan efficiently, had the quotes ready for me, and I felt they gave me sound advice to make good choices. My car was ready on time, within the expected cost, and is running really well after the repair. It is bad news auto.I don't recommend it to anyone. I got my brake fluid flush done from them and turned out they did such a bad job that moisture content was the same as before at 3%(I got it inspected after fluid flush). They refused to offer any refund. read more

I needed an insurance inspection on my car and am new to town so researched online and found this shop with great reviews that seemed to have an honest reputation. Thinking back, I didn't notice any government required inspection reviews, which can be a whole different ballgame considering you are a fairly vulnerable customer in this situation. I left my vehicle there and was told an hour. I wasn't expecting much work to be needed as the vehicle had quite a lot of work done recently and regular maintenance. I was quoted around $2800 in repairs before a pass would be granted. Got a second opinion from a very reputable shop on the other side of town and the only problem was a headlight that was out (which Good News happened to miss). Inspection passed and thank goodness I got that opinion. Think twice for any inspection-related services here. Will not be a repeat customer. read more

would never normally rate a business so low, but when the owner tells you to get the fuck out of his shop.........we'll, it's warranted. This all started with 2 inspections I had done. I knew my one vehicle needed an ABS sensor replaced and thought I'd just let them do it and the inspection. I still don't think the explanation I received was very good. Whether Good News thinks they're right or not, they broke the golden rule. NEVER OPENLY ARGUE WITH THE CUSTOMERS! The high road is not ways easy to take and I admit when I was asked to present a case why I wasn't happy, I did. Whether I was right or wrong, the rules of conflict resolution come into play. Telling a customer to GET THE FUCK OUT is never the right thing to do. Chris did however refund me for my inspection costs. His parting shot, which was stupid, but just inconveniences me. I went there because they have some participation with Jumpstart. If you do decided to do business there, make sure you know the charges and stipulations first. read more

I have to be honest with this review, first i do want to mention the staff are very courteous and friendly. I took my vehicle in for engine running rough, they charged me $ 273.00 and couldn't find the problem. Not very happy with being no further ahead and out more money. I think there strength maybe oil changes and brake jobs but more complex problems should be taken to more experienced shop.Sorry Good News wasn't Good news this time. Barry read more

I've been treated with no respect. I've been lied to and misrepresented information on all that was done on the auto I bought. I can't believe how someone can be so arrogant and rude. Very condescending as well. Should be aware of who you're dealing with. The son should be in another position where he doesn't need any social skills. Our automobiles bought there ended up costing thousands more after the sale. Was totally misrepresenting the conditions of them and what was supposedly done to them before buying. This is an honest company, which is rare in the auto industry. I have been doing my oil changes here for a couple of years, as well as getting tires changed over and minor repairs. I've had a great experience every single time. They are fast, honest and plain ole good staff to deal with! They are running a business the way everyone should! These guys are death wobble experts. They probably saved my life. Canadian tire had put passenger tires on a heavy duty truck. Kal tire looked at it before they did and they didn't notice it. I didn't notice it and of course the people that installed the tires didn't notice it. Kal tire told me it was a track bar and steering damper. Good news auto took me into the shop and showed me it was indeed a combination of the tires and gearbox. Thank you very much for the excellent service and advice. Worth every penny read more

I recently took my vehicle in to Good News Auto to have my brakes repaired. I emailed late on Friday night, and Chris interacted with me throughout Saturday (when they are closed) and got me in first thing Monday morning. Incredibly honest and fair, they were forthright with everything and frequently brought me into the back to show me exactly what was happening with my vehicle. They have very fair pricing, and will not over charge. Also, they offer discounted repairs for those who cannot afford them through their Jumpstart program, which is fantastic. I will be choosing to bring all of my vehicles here in the future, because I can trust them and I am helping others by supporting them. Great business! read more

Beware! Went in for a wheel alignment and they charged us $40 to say the tires were too worn, even though I was able to get an alignment at another shop. Trying to sell us new tires? Perhaps. Doesn't sound like a company trying to build good will and garner repeat business! They extorted $40 bucks rather than build some good will by saying the tires were too worn, which you can determine in a matter of seconds. Extortion because they literally would not give us the keys unless the $40 bucks was paid. Should have called the cops! SOUND LIKE DO GOODERS TO YOU? What a crock! I send my car to fix a grinding sound on the wheel, wheel bearing was changed, billed a bit high, and after a few days I went back for another issue on the other side of the wheel and provided me a quotation of $7000++++. Took our truck in for the some brake/rotor work recently and am very impressed by the folks here. We originally got quoted a number (via email prior to coming in) and when it came time to sign the paper work prior to service the number provided then was much higher. After I brought it to their attention the difference in numbers, the administrative assistant took it to Chris, the owner, and I expected them to say too bad and that I would have to pay the second price. I was all ready to defend my position as I had come into the shop because of the original quote.....and to my surprise Chris honoured the original agreement. I was floored because I was so used to businesses, especially in this industry, screwing you on costs. I was blown away that they were so honest and took the right approach. What a breath of fresh air to have a business do the right thing. For that, I will be back. Not because of the mix up, but because they opted to do things differently than so many others in the industry. I will gladly tell people to go there. This is an important caveat for anyone reading this: this is not an opportunity for you to try and pull a fast one on this shop. They are pretty switched on and my guess is that they wouldn't catch on quick too. These are good people and are going by the business honestly. Trust is a big thing and these folks proved to me that they can be trusted by both their customer service and the quality of the work done. The point of this review is to highlight an service attitude that is rare in this industry: an honest, common sense approach to customer relations. Great job guys. I took my car to Good News auto to have the brakes and suspension looked at. They found some things I expected (the brakes were warped) and some things I didn't (the suspension was just fine and didn't need to be repaired or replaced). The pricing was about on par with what I expected to pay, and Chris took the time to look into pricing for some things I wanted to do, but that weren't necessary. Invoicing at the end of the service was a bit disorganized, but perhaps the lady processing it was new or unfamiliar with the program. Overall, I was really happy with Good News. They came highly recommended by a friend, and the service and quality of work met my expectations. read more

Please note: you will not find a review from me on their facebook page as they have blocked me out of fear for what I will say. Much like most of the people here, I contacted this company as the reviews were predominantly positive. In addition, I liked the idea that they give back to the community. I believed that this supported their claims of honesty. I found out differently. I called them and asked for a quote on replacing my front brake pads. They quoted me a price for brakes and rotors. When I protested, I was informed that "they recommend rotors always be replaced when you replace brakes". This is absolutely unnecessary! In over 25 years of managing my own repairs and working for mechanics and having mechanics in the family, no mechanic has ever suggested this! In fact, a google search confirms that this is NOT industry standard - or even industry recommended. When I protested enough, I was told that "if I absolutely knew my rotors didn't need replacement". I also told them that my passenger side motor mount was loose and needed replacement. I was told that they would look at this without charging me a diagnosis fee as they "needed to find out why it was loose". Motor mounts do break in higher mileage vehicles - and this car is 15 years old and being driven over gravelled roads to boot. This, given their brake advice, strikes me as a tactic for them to find other stuff they can charge extra for. This company is shady - and it doesn't matter how much they "give back", nothing justifies lying to and recommending work that does not need to be done. So, when they tell you your brakes also need new rotors, do yourself a favour and find another mechanic. read more

It's hard to know who to trust in the tire and auto business. Good News Auto helped me to find the answer. I left a message on their website at 4:00 am by 8:30 am I had a call back. By 10:00 am I had a quote. The day before the appointment they phoned with a reminder and sent a text as well. My wife dropped the car off at 3 pm - they said it would only take 45 minutes. As promised she received her car back in 45 minutes. The price was exactly as quoted. The front end staff were courteous and thorough and we were thoroughly impressed. Possibly the best auto service shop we've been to inclusive of the dealership we go to. Good News lives up to its name. We highly recommend them. They can be trusted and for us that says a lot. read more

I love this place. It took me a long time to find a mechanic shop I could trust. Being a young women who frankly does not know much about cars, I always seem to get screwed over by people trying to sell me stuff I don't need. Good news auto is always honest and will recommend certain repairs but will not pressure me into doing it or make me believe that if I don't fix it now that my car will just die. They will also explain repairs before they do them and ensure you fully understand. They are simply just super nice people! Their price for an oil change is also the best I have found!
