Everything was excellent -- I basically inhaled the chili. The menu even included notes on pairing beers with each entrée or appetizer, which I appreciated. One thing I really liked about the oysters was that they were served on top of the ice rather than in it. I've been to places where the ice melts and leaves the oysters sitting in water, which isn't ideal. This restaurant clearly avoided that mistake. The kitchen was quick with our food and clearly held itself to a high standard of quality. It had been a long day for me, so maybe it was exactly what I needed. The restaurant itself isn't too small to feel cramped but just the right size to feel cozy -- high ceilings, beautiful chandeliers, and a comfortable atmosphere. I would definitely come back.

Although one can't order food from downstairs, they do offer great little cheese plates and meat trays that are ready to go on demand. I had a chef's salad with salmon. The salmon was some of the best I've ever had (salmon is also a favorite of mine so I've had quite a bit). It was salty with a beautiful glaze on the top, I would order it again in a heartbeat. I had a bit of the burnt end poutine as well. I wasn't crazy about it but it was still very tasty. The gravy that came with it was delicious. The only dish I had that I considered mediocre was the salmon burger. Like I said before, I really like salmon and this burger didn't seem to do the flavors justice. It felt muffled by the bun and other toppings. To finish it off I also ordered the blueberry lemon cheese cake and the chocolate cake. Both of which were delicious! The chocolate cake came with some strawberries on the side that added a nice freshness to the dessert. The cake itself was a bit dry, but tasty nonetheless. The cheesecake was absolutely delicious and was my preferred desert. Topped with a healthy pile of blueberries, in a delicious syrup. It looked and tasted delicious (and was quite a large slice).
