Nothing about this experience was pleasant or memorable. Wait. One thing was - the owner never got off the phone from the moment I walked in till the time I left. I'm not kidding. It was all Greek to me, no really, all he spoke was Greek on the phone - and loudly at that. I ordered an eggplant parmesan sub, which came with fries and a pickle for $8. It wasn't very good. It was nuked in the microwave. How did I know? The Italian bread roll it was in was soggy and didn't hold all of the soggy eggplant and cheap cheese in it. I love Gondlier's food and menu....just not at this location! The customer service is by far the worst customer service at any restaurant in Calhoun. When my family and I want to eat Gondolier's, we drive to Dalton. There's is superb! Wonderful customer service, fresh, hot breadsticks, waitresses to bring food and refills. It's so nice! read more

We were traveling from Ohio and craving pizza. I looked and found this place. The pizza was great!! You could tell the crust was made fresh. I seen some not so good comments about the owner. He was really nice to us. You just have to know how to talk to people. I really enjoyed talking to him and he is not as bad as some of the reviews. Anyway, great food. I've gone here since about 1988! The owner and family can become good friends if you reach out! They always make amazing food for me and know my order as I walk up. The quantity is generous and the staff is very accommodating. Always look forward to my Gondolier trips. read more

I really like the food served at Gondolier in Calhoun. Other Gondolier restaurants might be decorated fancier or have wait staff, but the food here is much better. My favorite entree is the chicken souvlaki. The tzatziki (cucumber dip) is great on anything. You can't get fresh pizza any faster. It's a very casual & friendly place. I created an account just to write this review: Extremely terrible experience. I ordered the $5.95 special and a drink and somehow the total was $10.25. The kicker was that I went back to the front menu to check the price of a drink and the owner got upset that I did so, and I didn't even ask for my money back! He even followed me back to my table trying to justify his prices and hung around trying to chat us up while we ate (with customers up front).. The food itself was bad too, the special I ordered was chicken parm on "hoagie" bread but I was given a grilled chicken strip inside a flatbread wrap with lettuce and tomato, and the fries were basically little pieces of plastic. I swear I don't know why anyone would eat there after trying it once. This place is terrible. read more

Horrible experience! Guy who runs the place is so rude. We have never been to a gondolier that you order up front so we didn't know any better. We ask him if we need to seat ourselves and he tells us to "read the sign". Asks where we are from and then says he's been in business for 33 years and that the gondolier where we live is a new one so they don't do it like the originals. What a joke! Still oblivious that we are about to have the worst meal of our life, we place our order. Table of 8... we get our food in less than 5 minutes... everything was ran through the microwave and then slapped on a tray on styrofoam plates. Food was disgusting and then a local hears us talking about how insane this is and tells us "yeah he's an a**hole but he does make good pizza"... too bad we didn't know that up front. As we were leaving we seen his score on the wall (85). I've been in gas station restaurants with better scores and much better food. If I can give any advice at all... don't go there. It ain't worth the money for the quality of food and service you get. I'm only giving 1 star because this app won't let you give 0 stars. read more

The owner has that wonderful Greek charm that a lot of people mistakenly think is an attitude, but I know better. He tells it how it is and he means well. Anyways, I heard they make a good Greek pizza they did not disappoint. With feta cheese, fire roasted tomatoes, kalamata olives, and Greek seasoned gyro meat; this pizza gives you a delicious experience of the flavors of Greece. read more

If I could give a minus 10 review, I would. Found a black hair in our Greek Salad, took it to the counter & the guy asked if we wanted another one, as if that's even a question, no apologies. New salad never arrived, so went back to the counter, wanted the money back, no apologies. Salad was $5.99+ tax, they gave back $6.00. Then as we were finishing up our pizza, we found at least 3 short white hairs. Went to the counter & told them once again, they said it was cheese. Not apologetic at all, very rude. Would not recommend this place at all, no hair nets, rude service. They don't deliver food to the table, yell out that it's there. Saw one order setting there on the counter for at least 8 minutes. If you don't want to have hair in your food, find another place to eat. Have never eaten at a restaurant, where they provided such terrible service. Dude at the counter was okay. Not rude, just businesslike. Meatball calzone was okay. Reasonable price for reasonable amount of food.

If I could give this place less than one star, I would. This was the absolute WORST place I've ever been. I've never been to a "sit down" restaurant where you were expected to order as soon as you walked in. The workers were the rudest people I've ever encountered. The only non-fast food pizza place in Calhoun, but it is terrible. From the greasy pizza to the exceptionally RUDE owner/cashier. Seriously we walked in and he gave us attitude before we even ordered. "Look up at the menu, read it yourself" we're some of his comments to us when we asked a question about the menu when ordering. I wouldn't eat here again. Rather Dominos or even Little Caesars over this terrible service. Honestly I know he has been in business for a long time in Calhoun, but I don't know how he's stayed open with how poor his service is. Avoid avoid avoid. read more

From the moment I walked in the door I felt unwelcome. The owner, I assume, was leaning on the counter staring around me. When I asked if I could sit anywhere he pointed at a sign that was over my head. When I backed up to look the sign said "order here." Sure I missed it, but i thought that was extremely rude. I asked if they were still offering two for one pizzas since the light that said two for one was off. He laughed at me and asked, "what does the sign say," which was literally the first thing he said to me. No hello, or welcome. I ordered two pizzas, one here and one to go and sat down. After 10 minutes of watching the waitress walk around the kitchen and not check on me, I walked back to the counter and asked if I could just get both pizzas to go. He had this annoyed look on his face and starts talking to the guy cooking in another language. The guy reaches into the oven and yanks the pizzas out before they were done cooking and boxes them. The pizzas were hot but under-cooked. Needless to say I will not be going back. read more

Pizza was great and so was the cost. It's was a fun meal. Ask for something not on the menu, like a Greek pizza, you won't be disappointed.

We were staying at a nearby motel on our way home from vacation. We were advised that the owner was a character, the food delicious, and that the atmosphere was NOT the reason to go there! All that proved to be true. My husband got the gyros plate and my son and I both ordered chicken souvlaki. Then we had baklava for dessert. It was all delicous! And Demetrious is a hoot. I have visited this location twice and both times host was simply not friendly, he should defiantly hire someone for the counter and lead from the kitchen. Not a people person at all. We went here for family lunch and have never been so rudely treated. We were the only ones in the place and when we asked if we order at the counter or sit down and have a waiter the owner just said what does that sign say and pointed at the sign that said order here which we obviously didn't see or we wouldn't have asked. Then while we were ordering, my mother in law who don't know Italian food really well was asking questions about the menu like what goes on what and the owner was bent over the counter and just saying what does the menu say? I mean she was asking him because he was there, would it have to hard for him to just tell her?!!! He had a really nasty tone and was being really rude to her and it was making us all mad. I have never seen this kind of treatment from an owner of a restaurant, and when my fiancé said something about it the owner said really hatefully "You got a problem man?" I was so mad I didn't even order but when we had finally sat down the owner brought one of the dishes out which was my mother in laws and then literally pointed at the other ones for Shawn to go get them. He was so lazy and rude he couldn't even bring us our food. The drinks and all are self serve and the family got pizzas and subs, all of which were just dripping in grease. My mother in laws sub's roast beef was hard and the dessert that you choose from the cooler looked and tasted like it had been there for days.
