Pina colada dessert topped with rum
    Siddhi L.

Just moved across the street from this place-- even though I've only been living here a few days, it's been pretty consistently packed every time I've walked by. Their lunch menu is very affordable, the servers are extremely helpful and welcoming, and the food is astoundingly fresh. The portions will leave you very satisfied, so come hungry! I walked in during a busy lunch service and was greeted by very friendly waiters. I was seated almost immediately. The menu was in Catalan, which I'm not quite fluent in yet-- but the waiters were more than happy to translate for me. I had a really lovely artichoke tempura to start with, which was cooked perfectly. The tempura wasn't excessively heavy on the batter, and despite being a fried appetiser, I felt the dish was surprisingly light and refreshing. I had a tuna dish as my main, served with a vegetable side (mainly potatoes). Everything was very nice, but my fish was unevenly cooked. The dish was also rather heavy on the paprika. I was happy to finish the plate as these were small flaws. The ingredients that were used were very flavourful and again, fresh. The dessert served was a pina colada natilla, topped with rum. WOW. This dessert was complex and really very impressive. Again, very strong flavours and a very light overall feeling to the dish, despite having a lot of fat (as a natilla is a milk and egg based dish). I really, really loved this dessert and really hope they have it when I return This is definitely one of the best places to have lunch at in Gracia. The chefs at Goliard are very impressive and talented. I think making fatty foods taste light and airy is one of the most impressive things a chef can do. I came very close to giving this place 5 stars. Minus one star due to the uneven cooking of the fish, unfortunately. I also noticed the table next to me had ordered some dishes that were similar to mine but were served in a different way (simple differences in plating and garnishes). It wasn't anything excessive, but worth noting. I'm really looking forwards to trying more of Goliard's food. They seem to have a very interesting tasting menu that I'm excited about! I saw the table next to me eating it and they seemed to be having a fantastic time! EDIT: Returned afterwards with some friends for dinner and while the waiters were very attentive to allergies, the kitchen staff kept sending food up with the offensive ingredients (which the waiters would almost serve, recognize, and then have to take away). Guess their restaurant needs a bit more communication between staff members.

In his namesake restaurant in Barcelona, he creates an authentic Catalonia-inspired menu using only certified local ingredients that are sustainable, organic, and ethically sourced wherever possible. Sergi de Meia's commitment to not only outstanding cuisine, but also to the environment and the community is impressive. A friend and I enjoyed an outstanding dinner at Sergi de Meia. The staff was wonderful, providing impeccable and attentive service that goes above and beyond the standard of hospitality. I thought the restaurant design was beautiful, and while the space is narrow and deep, the décor is light and contemporary, which makes for a great atmosphere. We share similar tastes, so my friend and I each ate the same dishes. We started with a taste of cauliflower cream, with pea shoots and crushed nuts. The cream was smooth and the nuts added a crunchy texture. The local asparagus with sheep's cheese cream and herbs was fresh and earthy, the vegetable tender and not tough, while the cream was salty and seasoned with the right mix of herbs. We also tried eggs and potato riojana style, and the flavors really gave a sense of the famous region of Spain. During the main course, we enjoyed fresh fish from the local market, with fresh green peas, chanterelle and saffron, which added a beautiful dose of color. We also loved the dish of local sheep, pumpkin, egg and cheese, as the texture provided an outstanding mouthfeel and is the epitome of local comfort food. For dessert, the server recommended the specialty chickpea fritters with cream, which use the traditional Catalonian chickpea flour. They were sweet and dense, a perfect way to end the delicious meal.

It was incredible to think that the Chef that arranged the menu, brought our food, gave us a bit of a story behind the dishes. All while looking over as the crowd steadily built through our dinner. It is such a rare dinning experience. We had a prefix menu with some options to select from. The timing was great, not fast giving you time to enjoy every bite. The food was hot which was important since it was such delicate dishes. So much flavor, we tried food outside our comfort zone and loved it. Chef Sergi really nails the pairings in food selection. I do not believe you can get a better meal than here in all of Barcelona. We only wish he had a restaurant in Los Angeles, California.

We arrived in Barcelona late (on Sunday), and this place was recommended to us by our host. Being just down the street, we decided to check it out. We shared the ravioli, salmon carpaccio, bravas with spicy sauce and cod croquettes. My least favorite were the croquettes; while the exterior was crispy and nicely browned, the interior was mushy and lacked complex flavoring. Each croquette was 1.5 euros each and the size of a breakfast sausage link. The bravas sauce was delicious, we actually put that on the croquettes. The ravioli was decent. It had good flavor but the pasta was a little too al dente for me. The shining star was the carpaccio. It came out beautifully displayed in razor thin slices and topped with a slightly sweet wasabi cream served like an ice cream scoop in the middle that melted slowly while we enjoyed the dish. We also shared a nice bottle of red wine, the Lo Petito. It was an amazing 14 euros and tasted pretty good (disclaimer, I'm not a wine connoisseur). Not a bad way to start our trip.

This included beer or wine, bottled water, bread and oil to start, and four courses including dessert. An additional bottle of wine is just 8 euros, very honest and fair of the restaurant! The menu has few options, so if you are very picky or have allergies, it would be wise to contact the restaurant beforehand. The place is nice. Not fancy or overdone, just simply well designed with some interesting elements. The sort of place where it seems to direct your focus solely to your table, allowing the food to command your full attention. The plates are explained in great detail as they come out. The bread was delicious!! Freshly baked, perfect chewy bite. Our next two courses were a quail dish and an asparagus soup topped with crispy prawns. For the mains, I got the leg of lamb that came with some veggies underneath. I also tried the other option which was a lighter take on fish and chips (minus the chips!). Everything was executed beautifully. Wonderful and interesting flavor combinations, perfect temperature, also perfect portions. I'm not entirely sure what the desserts were, but one was a chocolate dish with some passion fruit sorbet and the other was a cold fruit sorbet type thing...... oh I'm not describing it well. Both dishes were also incredibly creative and made with modern gastro techniques. I think coffees were also included in the price. Everyone in my party greatly enjoyed the lunch. We had two "foodies" and the other two more simple eaters who typically scoff at "pretentious food". However, they also really loved it since flavors were so on point. Food quality is also very high. For 20 euros, it is on the higher end of lunches, but I think it was completely worth the price. Highly recommend!!

Mirilla has a smaller list of tapas, but still plenty of options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. We split the patatas bravas, the cheese platter, and the timbal. The patatas bravas were made a little differently - more like potato wedges instead of cubes, but still really good and crispy. They offered a little less dipping sauce but still enough for the potatoes. The wedges were actually much easier to dip than the cubes. The cheese platter was also pretty solid, with a good mixture of creamy cheeses and sharp cheeses. The timbal was easily the best dish. We ordered it because of the pesto and goat cheese in it and although we didn't really taste any pesto, the goat cheese was incredible. Extremely rich and creamy and went great with the vegetables. Would definitely try to come here again, hopefully sober next time.

I was curious what to get for the last tapas order and she said she would have the chef surprise us, which did not disappoint. We had the goat cheese and tomato jam with toast, amazing! We also enjoyed the squid and veal meatballs with a lovingly crafted tomato sauce, king prawns with a pink sauce, and a lemon marinated salmon dish. All were great, and we enjoyed some delicious local wine and cocktails. We felt like we ended up friends with the chef and the whole staff by the time we were done and there was a great welcoming feeling surrounding the whole place, where you can tell everything from the food to the staff was filled with love and passion for what they were doing. We started with three tapas: Pierogi Therapy (Pierogi ruskie) that were just a tad overcooked; Arenque del Báltico (Śledzik), a cold dish featuring many wonderful seafood flavors; and Say Cheese (Oscypek), lightly grilled goat cheese with red berry jam - kind of a dessert tapa, perfect before the main event. Deelish! Although there is a nice variety in their menu, the four of us selected the same two main courses: El Buen Rollo (Gołąbek), a large cabbage roll stuffed with nicely seasoned ground beef and rice, covered with a somewhat sweet tomato sauce. Each order came with two rolls. Each one was more than enough for one meal! Kopernik Was Right (Kiełbasa) was spicy and came in a bed of sauerkraut, on top of mashed potatoes. Pure comfort food! We finished off with a slab of their Polish-style cheesecake - and yes, one slab was enough for the four of us. Even the coffee was perfect! (You can always tell when a restaurant doesn't keep their coffee makers clean - this place clearly does.) Finally, a "chupito" of Polish vodka, nice and dry. I can't wait to go back again and try other items on their menu!
