Today, I called him at 10a and told him we had a 1p tee time and he was ready to say 'yes' after he cleared the deck of the 'honey do list'. The traffic was thick North on I-77 from Fort Mill but no grid lock so we made it in 20minutes and still had time to hit a bucket of balls. Jay is 'still' there, he's a fixture at this place and has been for at least the last 6 years since I retired and started playing there. They are no longer under Radcliffe Management but under Troon. Their 'on-line' booking website is excellent. IF you're playing solo, you're REQUIRED to call and book. We made the 9 hole round in 1 hr, 45 minutes and it was busy. We had a slow three some walking in front of us. It's hard to beat the price on this muni when you can get a Senior AND Vet discount and play for less than $30 bucks. Fulwider was pleased with the experience except on hole #9, the finishing par 5, he swears a blacksnake ate his ball. Always a nice change of pace but at prime time, Friday to Sun you will be challenged to get a time time and pace of play.

It's been about 3 years since I wrote the first review here…read more I went on a Wednesday morning in early June and the place was packed with youngsters taking lessons. I rented a top tracer bay and a bucket of balls. The top tracer has been added since my first visit so I decided to give it ago. I've done top tracer before so I had some familiarity of how it works. It was only an extra $5 bucks. It tracks your ball speed, carry distance and roll out, launch angle and apex. It will also indicate your accuracy on a line of distance you set. I really liked it and would recommend it for just a practice session. The only down side is you're hitting off a mat and rubber tee. The guy at the service desk was challenging to communicate with. I had to ask him several times, phrased differently about HOW many balls are in a medium bucket. I was not able to putt because there were so many kids on the putting greens. I probably should have called ahead to see if it was 'lesson day' but I expect during the summer it's busy.

I had been retired about a year and decided that I wanted to devote some time to playing golf. I've played on and off since I was about 14 years old but decided if I was going to play more frequently, I need to get some formal instruction. I signed up for an introductory lesson which went very well. Brent expressed the importance of first being able to make contact with the ball. We went through several drills where he had me use several clubs and just hit tees. He made a lot of sense to me and with some basic fundamentals I decided I was ready for the next steps. I purchased the package with four lessons. Brent's very good at listening to what you want to accomplish and assessing and evaluating your current game and then putting together a plan that works for you. One of the lessons was a full hour on his swing analyzer. I would highly recommend Brent, He is a certified PGA Golf Instructor. He has a professional manner and talks in easy to understand terms about the swing and the fundamentals of golf. He offers instruction to a variety of skill levels and provides instruction to a Junior team that competes in North & South Carolina.
