They both had previous lessons and had played the course several times before so they had good local knowledge. They were both quite good and played from the black tees, normally I would play the grey which are Senior but I teed with them. The Senior tee's give you no advantage on some holes and on others significant advantage. I decided to purchase the Radcliffe Meck Co Membership which gives you significant discounts of 40% in some cases. In addition you receive a discount for being a Senior. They have a driving range but it's obvious they don't rotate the teeing area to keep the grass fresh. A small bucket is $6 bucks. There is a fair sized practice putting area. For some reason they started us on 10 which is OK for the most part. There were bare spots in the fairway. The tee boxes and greens were all in good shape and greens rolling true and a bit slow. The fairways are very open and there are fairway bunkers on nearly every hole. If you go out of bounds you will be penalized severely because of heavy weed growth and steep drop offs. I liked the front 9 much better. There is a fair amount of water and on 2 holes you hit over water on Par 3's which is fun. The clubhouse is busy and there was only one guy there when I played. He was working the register and answering the phones and serving food. They do have a porta-bathroom on each side. There is also an instructional school on-site. They have a nice covered picnic area with lots of tables. I had a jumbo hot dog which was good, the add custom condiments. Very large parking lot and fairly easy access off I-485.

As a regular at the course things have been improving since my earlier review. Greens (which were…read morebumpy for a long time after too early aerification) have healed with the recent rain helping. Bunkers have new sand and a few have been removed. Cart path work has been done and maintenance is doing what it can with drainage issues. That will always be an issue since the course is built on a landfill. Overall, much improved! This course is #3 on the B-Man's guide to the top 10 Charlotte area golf courses. It's a good course but a #3 seems overrated to me. Understanding it's February so granted, not ideal conditions. Still a problem when you have more than half an entire green surface under repair. You get only one Par 3 on the front and two on the back. The fairways are wide open and forgiving. The tee boxes all in good repair. You get the computerized electric golf carts. The check-in and Staff was smooth and everyone was nice. The bar/restaurant experience was good. As a Senior golfer, you get considerable tee advantage on most all of the holes. There is water but it doesn't come into play. They had patrolling Ranger maintaining pace of play. It is literally right adjacent to the Speedway. On several holes, you can see the Grandstands. I think you want to avoid this place on race day.

After 3 years of self guided lessons with every YouTube golf guru I was still struggling to be a consistent player. I came to Grant Gaugler III at golftec with a thin slice and never really knew where my ball would end up before I hit a shot. Not only does he have the experience as a competitive golfer to backup what he preaches but he is a natural teacher who really helps simplify concepts on top of just being an overall good guy. He helped me develop drastically better body mechanics while helping me understand why my "before swing" was leading to inconsistent results. There were definitely points of frustration on my part throughout the learning process and my swing is still a work in progress but after spending time working with Grant I feel 1,000x more confident stepping up to the ball. What a great facility for practicing all aspects of your golf game!…read more They have a covered & heated driving range area where you hit off mats. They also have an outside driving range where you hit off natural grass. Both are lighted as they stay open until 9pm There is also a dedicated chipping area. There is a dedicated putting area which is really exceptional. It's set up like a 18 hole putting green similar to a putt putt course. There is not a single flat area on the putting course, it's all swales and ridges so you will really be challenged. In addition they have two golf simulators you can rent by the half hour or hour. You can register for free membership to get your bucket of balls at a discount of $1.00. Interestingly most all the balls are Titlest range balls which is a plus. Inside there is an attendant who will rent the balls, There are 3 different size buckets, small, medium and large. The small gets you about 70 balls and runs $10.75 They sell used and new clubs and golf bags. You can buy individuals clubs or a full set. They also sell golf apparel including shoes. You can get cold sodas and bottled water as well. This is a first class facility part of the First Tee Organization of Greater Charlotte. You'll find that on certain days/hours there will be a lot of youngsters practicing so you can ask the attendant about the best times to visit.

For the record I had on Birkenstocks and I wear these shoes all the time to the gym and they've never said ANYTHING nor have I ever had an issue. I understand it's for safety to have fitted shoes but I don't always bring extra shoes with me every where I go, especially because I was just tryna make a quick stop to work out after running errands all day. A YMCA membership is not cheap, respectfully they shouldn't be kicking their guest out for not having proper attire. If they're going to do this provide backup attire or at least give me a warning for next time.‍ Fortunately the woman was kind about it but she didn't even allow me to work out since I was already there!! She kept apologizing like that's gonna give me my time back, this is my only day off and I don't have time to drive back and forth over some shoes.
