Well, unless another wedding invite graces my mail box, there's no way I could get in. To get on the waiting list for membership is $25k on it's own. Plus, I don't wear my pants up at my armpits or take dinner before 5pm. The view is gorgeous. You can see the Grouse Grind and Vancouver from the expansive patio that faces the course. The greens look like they're kept in immaculate form. (I wonder if there's a wee little garden gnome out there in the early morning hours grooming them with a pair of shears! What else would they do with all those annual dues?) The staff is friendly, professional and on top of their game. They were awesome about bringing vegetarian dishes to the lone vegetarian at our table and kept the drinks coming! The food was decent. It's exactly what you'd expect at a golf course, although, as I mentioned, I was there for a wedding, so we possibly were privy to an exclusive menu - Shrimp Cocktail? Lobster thermidor? Dim sum dumplings as appetizers? Don't mind if I do!

Northlands Golf Course was the first round on our golf trip, and also probably the hardest of all…read morethe courses we played. Either way, we had a great time here. The course was in awesome shape from tee to greens. Luckily we played with someone who plays here often so we had a little bit of help navigating the course. It's one of the courses where I had to use my driving iron 15/18 holes because of the tight conditions and to avoid hazards. It wasn't a particularly long course, but it definitely challenges you to make accurate shots. Not a lot of room for error if you want to try and score well. It's definitely a course you where a cart helps a lot. They had the biggest gps screen I've ever seen in cart lol. Walking is doable but it's definitely a hike at times. The day we got here, it looks like they were having a preview or soft opening of their new restaurant, bummer it wasn't open when we played because there was nowhere to buy food or drinks but that should be all good now. Overall, if you are visiting Vancouver, and want a fun challenging golf course and with amazing views at a reasonable price, Northlands is definitely worth checking out.

Don't believe the negative reviews about the Marshalls. The course does try to keep up the pace of play but they are polite and respectful. The course is hilly, and errant tee shots will pay the price. Many greens are elevated, and even when you are on, putting can be an adventure. I definitely recommend Northlands to golf in Vancouver area!!

Although on Monday and Fridays you can use the Seymour Golf Club driving range but they are semi private and much more expensive for a bucket of balls. There is also another driving range in the North Shore called Seymour Creek but hitting their balls is like hitting rocks in a demilitarized zone. Takaya balls are pretty good. There is a mix of brand new and older balls (all Top Flight I think). There is also a mix of mats and hitting surfaces. The price is average, 7 bucks for 75 balls. There are bonus times where you get 90 for the same price. Look out for Groupon or living social deals. Often you can get 10 buckets for 30 dollars. Make sure to load your groupon/living social deals onto a loyalty card (unless you want to carry a ton of paper slips). Practice facility is a joke. But again on the Northshore that's the best you can get. (unless you go to Seymour Golf Club on a Monday/Friday public day). Our kids love the minigolf. Price is pretty decent for an hour of fun. Staff is usually an unenthusiastic teenager. Sometimes the owner is there and he is really nice. Also some of the instructors seem really nice.

This Mount Seymour-area driving range is definitely the best in the District of North Vancouver --…read morebut that's not saying much. The prices area great ($6.50 for 90 balls) but the mats can be hit and miss, the service is generally rendered by unenthusiastic teens, and their chipping and putting surface is too fast. The two greens have an artificial surface that doesn't emulate turf at all. If you've got time to drive over to Eaglequest in Coquitlam, I'd definitely recommend it.

Before buying it, I…read moreasked to ensure that if the club doesn't arrive in perfect condition, I'm able to get a refund. I was assured this was the case. I received the club with a horrific hack job done to it. For starters, the grip (GP align grip) was on sideways. Since the setup is -1.5 loft adjustment, the club should have been gripped after being adjusted. Second, the club shows a small 1mm sized dent in the top of the hosel. My guess is the same careless employee who put the grip on sideways also dropped the driver head during assembly. Third, there is epoxy all over the shaft near the grip. Fourth, the ferrule has a visible gap in it and is uneven - once again epoxy everywhere. Fifth, the crush washer that is part of the ferrule is not crushed -- meaning the club was sent out improperly torqued. I've only taken the club out of the box it was shipped in, not even so much as taken a practice swing with it, and they've refused to refund my money. I expected a professional level club, and I was delivered a bush league hack-job. I was lied to about return policy so that the sales representative could close the sale. Avoid the fitters at this place. They assemble clubs carelessly and have bad customer service to boot.

What's cool about this spot is that is a low risk way to try out some golf. The longest hole is 100 yards, with most being 75 or less. There were a ton of beginners and first timers playing so it's definitely not a place where pace of play is a priority. There's no tee time required, just walk up and get in line on the first tee. For Americans, the cost for 2 people to play was around $19 for $18 holes. Every tee box has a mat that you hit off of to start reach hole. The greens aren't great, so not the best place to practice putting. When we visited, there were single golfers, groups of 8, and everything in between. Most people dropped off after 9 holes, so we played the second 9 pretty quick. Overall, it's a fun course to get some swings in and have some beers on the course.
