I had a great experience at Golf Galaxy in Reading, particularly working with Tim to get fitted for…read morenew clubs after a 20+ year hiatus from the game. I had a scheduled iron fitting ($50) and Tim greeted me as soon as I walked into the store for the appointment. I spent the next 60 minutes chatting with Tim, while trying different clubs and hitting balls into the Trackman screen. I'm a pretty poor golfer - plenty of hooks, slices, and misses - but to the extent I did hit clean shots, Trackman was able to show me which set/brand I did better with. Tim never made me feel embarrassed or critiqued my swing, but instead put me at ease and made me more knowledgeable about the evaluation process. There were no high pressure sales tactics or upselling - in fact I ended up not buying anything but instead had my existing clubs regripped. When it is time to buy new clubs, Tim left me with the Trackman results and recommendations about getting the irons extended, grip size, etc. I will certainly be back for future purchases and to take some lessons with Eyna, who was also very nice. Finally, my old clubs were regripped in just a few hours - way shorter than the 24/48 hour turnaround time they initially mentioned. Thank you very much to Tim and the Golf Galaxy team in Reading.

They have a 4 large bays, each with a TrackMan and a video replay of your swing, as well as a 5th bay that is strictly used for instruction. The walls are also filled with the best current equipment from all the major manufacturers for you to demo. And more than anything else, I liked the ability to reserve a simulator bay online. Most places, you have to call in and see what is available and work your schedule around that. Pure Drive has an online booking system where you can book from a 30 minute session, up to two hours, and they show you which bay you will be reserving. So convenient. They have cameras to the side, and behind you and they can pause, slo-mo, and draw lines to show club position, face angle, ball contact while comparing your swing side by side with pro swings to demonstrate your swing flaws. They also provide summaries of your lessons on your phone app including before-and-after videos of you along with commentary, drills and linked videos of instructors with topics such as slicing and swing dynamics. After 6 lessons I have improved my grip, backswing, turn, downswing, ball contact and follow-through and am hitting every club farther, straighter, and with much less slice. Great indoor instruction and practice during the winter. Im sure I'll be playing better golf this spring and summer and will be back for more Golftec lessons next winter.

I have been a customer and "student" at Golftec for more than a year now and can't say enough good…read morethings about how it has helped my golf game. Prior to taking lessons at Golftec I had been golfing on a regular basis for about 6 years. Over those years I saw some improvement, but it was not until I started lessons at Golftec that I was able to see a significant improvement in my game. I have dropped over 10 strokes in my game over the last year. The video instruction (while intimidating at first) is paramount to improving. It wasn't until I saw myself of video that I could really focus in on what was wrong with my game. Through Steve's instruction and the practice sessions I have and am continuing to fix the problems in my set up, swing and finish. Even though he tells me to do something and I swear I am doing it - the video often tells me I am swinging too big or swaying on my take away. I don't know how someone could improve their game without it. In addition to the video, you have access to all of your lesson video and drills online. Golftec also has a partnership with a driving range/short range facility where you can also practice in the sand and around and on the green. I would highly recommend Golftec for anyone who is interested in improving their game. Well worth the investment. Now is the perfect time to fix your flaws before next season!

Capital Hill is a fabulous stop on the Robert Trent Jones golf trail. This site boast three full…read morechampionship tracks named the Senator, Legislator, and the Judge. I spent three days here in June, and played the Senator and Legislator twice each and the Judge once. What a treat! The Senator is a links style layout that is very challenging. There are no trees, moderate elevation changes, lots of bumps, and plenty of sand bunkers. There are many blind shots where strategic placement of drives and layups are critical. The wind was blowing when we played, and I imagined it was close to playing an old course somewhere in Scotland. This Legislator is a beautiful course that is a traditional layout. The course meanders through woodlands and tree lined fairways. The back nine starts with a memorable ride past the clubhouse. The cart path winds down an elaborate wooden bridge. The back nine has some unique holes with a stretch that runs along a mountain ridge. #15 is a par four with a dramatic downhill tee shot to a wide fairway. I thought the Judge was hardest and most beautiful of the three courses. It runs along the Alabama River and water is in play on most of the holes. The view from #1 tee box is spectacular. It is extreme downhill drive to a narrow fairway. Two of the par threes are essentially shots to an island greens that require precise accuracy. This track measures about 5900 yards from the white tees, but it feels much bigger. The par fives are long and difficult(#7 measured 575 yard and #10 is 503).

When we were having trouble fitting all of our bikes on our car bike rack, Doug came out and helped us put our bikes on the rack. He was so patient the entire time we were there. He even ran inside to get a tool to space out our rack better. He went above and beyond; we will definitely be going back to sun and ski, anytime we need bike or ski equipment thanks to Doug.
