I've been going to Golftec now for about 6-7 months. I can highly recommend Justin Bentley who is one of the pros there. He is a great instructor and is extremely knowledgeable, patient and helpful. He takes the time to rebuild your swing from the ground up using a very systematic process. I found my game got worse for a while as I was assimilating all of the changes, but if you stick with it, everything will definitely start to get better. It's a blast when you finally start hitting the shots you only dreamed of before. You have to be patient with the process but trust me, it works. Justin does a nice job of offering encouragement along with instruction and he is happy to give you as much detailed information as you want about the process and your swing. They have pretty cool video systems so you can see what you are doing real time and even play it back later on your personal web site where all of your training notes are kept. Trust me, if you want to improve, Golftec is very much worth the money. Ask for Justin, he'll definitely take care of you. read more

This review specifically addresses the driving range. It's a nice long range so you big hitters (like the Dalai Lama) can get a good idea of how far you're shooting it. However, after hitting for a while with some former colleagues, we we think that the flags are actually a little further than what the diagrams say. It's quasi-heated, meaning comfortable in long sleeves without a coat on a cold day but I wouldn't go there in December in short sleeves. They have automatic and adjustable tees, which are pretty standard these days but missed when the range doesn't have them. Fees are pretty reasonable too. read more

This place will always have a special place in my heart since it was the first time I ever did a course, regardless if it was just a par 3 and only 9 holes. Came here on a Saturday afternoon after a Friday night storm. Course was flooded earlier that morning but went down by the time we got there. Few puddles here and there that you have to be careful of. Think it's like 15 bucks per game, 13 if you're a member or something like that. I borrowed a putter, and you only need to give your license which is nice cause I didn't want to pay more. 2 bucks to rent one of them golf bag rollers. Most of the time you can find left over tees on the floor, but bring some just in case. Also bring some extra balls if you're a beginner. 2 holes are over water, and 3-4 are right next to a fenced forest where you'll never be able to find your ball. Like I said, It was my first time so I had fun. Underestimated how hard it is to hit as compared to a range. Also it's a lot of walking, and that's even a short course too. There was no line so we went in a group of 3. A couple was right on our tail the whole time though which made me feel a little rushed. But yeah, good beginner course, just go with someone that knows what they're doing though since there's so many unwritten rules out there. read more

This place received good reviews from Golf Digest as one of the best practice ranges. Except on Mondays, each ball you hit is about $0.12, that is a bit pricey but it is automated and you never need to bend down. It does have three levels to choose from but coming here on Mondays can get crowded. Your money is stored in a rechargable card and from what the staff told me, it never expires. Just do not loose it! There is a bar girl who goes around asking if you would like any drinks from the bar, which is convenient. For those of you who prefer hitting off the ground, they do have grass tees available for $10.00. They have a big short game area where you can practice all day and all night long for $6.00. They have several sand traps for you to practice also. They have a small putting area. I played their par-3 9 Hole course. It is a good place to practice target golf. The greens are decent. They do not accept tee-times (walk-ins only) but call ahead since they do have league play on certain times of the day. It is lighted at night, which is a plus for me when I feel like playing a round late. GolfTec is located on the ground level. I have taken a group class from them and they are very professional. Oh, I have spotted a few sports celebrities in this place. Some suck at golf but I have seen decent drives also. read more

I love this place. Even my dad loved it. I took him today for the first time. The balls do get stuck once in a while. But there is always somebody to unstick them. Its great because you get a card and only shoot what you need. Also mondays are cheaper. Its only 6cents on monday. Thursdays are 8 cents. And the rest of the time is 12 cents. The only thing is the rubber tees are a little flimsy. But you can adjust the height. The food was also not bad. The restaurant only had 1 person on hand to wait and it was not busy but it still took a while. However it was very tasy and very filling. Large portions. read more

What a great place to hit some balls! I came here with a few friends and we all had to get money loaded on our card. You buy a card, I bought the $15 card and you basically pay per ball.So we set up outside. It was about 30 degrees out but it is heated there so it was not an issue. You put your card in the machine and a ball pops out of the ground for you to hit. This was pretty convenient, I did managed to clog the hole several times but a worker came to fix it quickly each time. I am left handed so the ball popping up on the right side was a semi issue but not a huge deal. I had to move the ball to the left side each time and there is no tee on the left side so it made driving very hard. I used some of my own tees and they would fly away each time. So I do wish they had a left handed tee. They may have, I didnt really look too hard. The $15 card lasted me at least an hour and I had $2 remaining. It was a great time. This is great place to bring the kids to hit a few balls and just have fun. Not too crowded on a recent sunny Sunday afternoon. Go to the second tier and even the worst golfers will go airborne. Golf Center is a nice driving range. They also have an executive course next to it for a quick 9 hole experience. One of the longer holes is about 200 yards. As the other reviewers have said GC is a most excellent deal on Monday nights. At half price balls the 3 floors gets busy so I recommend getting their early. However, even if you have to wait, you won't have to for long. There are plenty of stalls and it opens up regularly. The actual range itself is not as fine as others with real grass that I have seen such as Sports Park but if you are just looking to grip it and rip it it is serviceable. GC also has a restaurant/bar that usually has a game playing the food is typical for a club house kitchen. Nothing will blow you away but I have seen wait service on the range itself. So if you plan yo make a night of it, start a tab and have beers brought to you will wacking away. read more

I like coming here to hit golf balls, but it is a little pricey. It's nice because the balls come out of the ground on a tee automatically for you, and it does give you different targets to aim for. They could upgrade some of their mats and the plastic covers on the machines etc. They are showing their age. I can't give it any higher stars because it is pricey and they lady at the front when we walk in was not very helpful or friendly. I also prefer one other place over the golf center it is higher tech and will actually give you a read on how far you ball went and you can play games and earn free games etc. read more

Friendly staff and good service. Automated call button at each station if you need help, and someone will show up in minutes. The 3-par 9-hole course is open at night as well, with tons of lights to guide your way, including the well-maintained putting and chipping areas. $11 to play, but there's a $9 coupon on GreatGreenFees.com. On the ground floor is a private instructors' center with a video screen to view and correct your every swing. There's a restaurant called Club Casa Cafe on the 2nd floor with a full bar to quench your thirst and a decent menu to fill your hungry tummy quick. Outdoor patio is open almost all year. There are flatscreen TVs on each corner to watch The Blackhawks, Bears, Cubs, Sox, and of course, The Golf Channel. The waitresses from the restaurant will come around on all three levels of the building to take & deliver your order at the practice stations, too. The chicken wings & slider specials are great, and our kids' favorite is the Ultimate Nachos. The specials change every day, with regular deals on drinks every month. They cater food as well, I hear. The Pro Shop is also on the 2nd floor, privately owned by Dream Golf, separated from the Des Plaines Park District. Good selection of clubs and shoes, but you won't find clothes there anymore. I had two lessons at golfTEC, the first one, short game with keith and the 2nd one swing analysis with A.J. I have played golf for a long time, and recently have been having some troubles with my short game, club hitting the ground and topping the ball, the more I practiced on my own, the worst it got. I am a tourist from Hong Kong and weather was good, so I decided to search online, and decided to give golftec, a try...keith the coach was about to fit me in a 30 minute lesson, helped me with the set up and also reminded me how to chip and pitch....it was good, then I decided to book one more lesson on swing analysis.. A.J looked after me, I was impressed with their golf studio, it showed me, what i was doing wrong, and AJ was able to quickly correct what I was doing wrong. They asked me to downloaded their App, the lessons are now online, and I will be able to see it when I go back to Hong Kong today. Just wanted to say thanks to keith and AJ. read more

Used to come here all the time last year after work with some friends to play a quick round and they've completely ruined that. Tee times getting booked out weeks in advance essentially making this a standing tee time establishment instead of a quick accessible course for residents. Between nightly leagues and this choice getting on before 840 pm is nearly impossible. Extremely disappointed and a shame that another business doesn't make more efforts to welcome and accommodate their own township. The best thing about this place is the self loading golf balls and heated tees. They have different specials on different nights. The actual course is good for me. I don't golf a lot so it's the perfect course for some one who can't drive a ball really far. Never been to the restaurant but it's always busy. read more

The Golf Center of Des Plaines is one of the best Practice facilities in the Chicago area. The facility includes three levels of heated, automated tees. The balls come up from below the mat, so there is no bending to tee up the ball for every shot. The height of the tees are adjustable so you can work with your driver and your fairway wood without changing the tee. The GCDS also has a Executive, 9 hole course, restaurant, bar, pro shop and terrific, short game area. The short game area is best part of the facility. The short game area has your typical practice green for putting and a huge short game area for chipping and several sand traps to help you get off the beach with confidence. This year round facility welcomes all ages and skill levels. The staff does a excellent job keeping the facility well maintained. I know there are Golf purist's out there who frown upon hitting on mats. Personally, I have no problem with mats as long as they are fairly new and well maintained. Considering you have to clean your club after every second or third shot when you hit off grass, mats allow you more time to practice and less time wiping off your clubs. The Bottom line on the Golf Center of Des Plaines is: Beautiful, clean facility that allows you to work on every facet of your Golf game with a friendly, knowlegable staff makes the GCDS a wonderful place for golfers of every level and age. Everyone from the seasoned, club pro to the weekend warrior will enjoy this place. The hours of practice have paid off, my short game is better than ever before thanks to this wonderful facility. This is a very decent range. The advantages: fair prices, motorized tees, grass area, short-game with bunkers for $6, closes late. The disadvantages: Putting area is as slow as carpet, and the food is nasty. I take the long drive out here every chance I get. There are a lot of Asian customers here, including myself. If they added a casino here the Asians would never leave. read more

This is a great place to practice at. I've been going here for about four years now. They have a heated range, grass tees, a great short game area, and a small 9 hole course to work on shots 150 yards in. If you're interested in lesions they have a GolfTec located on the first floor. Everything is audio and video recorded so you can view it later, which you don't get from many places. I've taken numerous lessons from Justin Bentley and I would highly recommend him. read more

Three levels of covered, heated hitting stalls with automated tees make Golf Center a great a place to work on your game in the off-season. The range cards work on a dollar value system, and the value of each range ball gets deducted from your balance each time you hit. Get the most bang for your buck on Mondays when your card value gets doubled (essentially two range balls for the price of one), but be prepared to wait for a bit, especially when the after-work crowd starts to trickle in. Golf Center also features a 9-hole par 3 course that's good for short game practice once the weather warms up. I'd definitely be here more often if it wasn't such a hike from the city. read more

A very nice driving range(mats only, no grass tees) with the automatic tees that pop up to your preferred height is part of the attraction. Des Plaines also has the best short game practice area and a challenging par 3 golf course. Sometimes I play 9 here when other courses are bogged down with leagues or outings. Stop by here on my way home from work about twice a week to hit a few balls. Easy to use machine, parking is never a problem, and they offer great deals on Thursdays. As a Des Plaines tax payer, this facility and the library are the only things where I feel i get my moneys worth. Great three level driving range with plenty of spots available for left handed players. I have not used the Golf Tec teaching center for any services yet they seem to have the latest equipment available and offer specials very often. I have no reason to go to the Pro Shop so I don't use it. The Par 3 golf course is a little short on some holes and could be managed better, I think Hole 1 should be 9 and Number 2 should be the first hole because there is always a delay between 1 and 2. I suggest playing the course as early as possible on Monday or Friday(there are leagues Tu-Th from 6-8PM), because the mosquitoes are vicious at night , especially after any rain. There also is a bar/restaurant on the premises, decent wings and sliders with typical bar options, overall with some slight tweaks this would be a 5 star facility. read more

Great place. Prices are good. The balls come up automatically. They do tend to jam a lot, but the staff comes right out to fix it. I would say that because they are counted when they come out, even if it is during a jam up, that we lost near 30-40 balls. And I was there with my 7 year old son, teaching him how to hit balls. He was doing fairly well and not acting crazy in the slightest, but we still caught a significant amount of dirty looks from the super serious golfers on either side of us. They had super expensive clubs, golf outfits, even golf shoes on at the driving range and were smacking the ball easy 250+. These guys took their sport serious and I totally felt that they were really not happy my son and I were having a good time and may have been disturbing them. We weren't being loud, just having a good time. I have to admit, that that was pretty annoying. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it there. Staff was great. read more

What a great driving range! We live 3 minutes away so my husband comes at least twice a week! It's clean and gorgeous! I'm not really into golf but even I like coming here with my husband! There's 3 floors of stalls and a monitor that tells you which stalls are occupied so you don't have to waste time walking around! There are chairs for people who are watching to sit on. The balls automatically come up on the tees which is awesome because I hate carrying those heavy buckets of balls. There's a bar, the front desk people are very polite. It's even heated in the winter so you can still practice your swings! Des Plaines residents get a discount AND it's half-price on Mondays! My husband and I can go for 2 hours, taking turns in one stall, and me doing my rapid fire swings with no breaks, and only spend $10 on a Monday! Sweeeeeeet! There's plenty of parking and even though it does get packed, especially on Monday nights, we've never had to wait for a stall. read more
