I have had two experiences with Goleta transmission. Don't let the name fool you....they do transmissions but they do way more. Experience 1. Broke my transfer case in my 86 Bronco....without upwelling me, they replaced a $8 bushing and I was good to go. I was prepared to spend thousands of $$$$ on a transfer case and got away with spending under $75. That is a win Experience 2. Took bronco back with several issues that were not at all transmission related. All fixed and under budget. From the steering column to the rebuilt front suspension to the non functioning rear window....this shop hooked it up. Highly recommend. read more

Goleta Transmission - 86 Bronco Goleta transmission fixed. They are my only mechanic now! - Auto Repair Near Me - Goleta, California

This shop is not qualified to work on BMW and other ZF transmissions. They did not address the solenoid problem on my car which I explicitly asked them to diagnose and fix. Left me with an additional cost of $3000.00 to fix rough downshift from 3rd to 2nd gear...which I later found out is a common problem and could have been easily addressed during the alleged rebuild. Basically de-valued the car by 12000.00 read more

I only ever feel called to write a review when somebody goes above and beyond what they need/ or have to do. Thomas was knowledgeable and friendly and fair. He didnt try to sell me on anything i didnt immediately need. In a world where mechanics sometimes get a bad reputation, Thomas is not one of them. When my old Toyota finally does need some work, ill definitely be taking it back here. read more

I called and spoke with Thomas told him the issue with my son's vehicle and he said bring it right in. When I arrived, he was very nice and had one of his mechanics, take a test drive with us to hear the problem. When we returned, they took the car in and said they would call us. We received a phone call less than a half an hour and to come pick up the car. There was something loose and Thomas and his mechanic fixed it and didn't charge us for it. I highly recommend Goleta transmission and my son who lives in Goleta will use Thomas's services in the future. read more

The guys at Goleta Transmission are fantastic. I needed a complete build of my transmission of my Yukon Dinali. It was promised three days later, and it was ready right on time. Their prices are very competitive. Our communication was fantastic and I just had a really good experience with them. If you need a transmission, that sucks. if you want a good place to go, Goleta Transmission is the place read more

My family and I was passing through and our luck the transmission went out. We had our vehicle towed to Goleta transmission. Thomas and Steven met with us. Provided us a quote for repairs but due to the time frame we had our vehicle towed back to our city. Even tho we didn't use there services they provided us with excellent service unlike other companies that I had experience with that same day. Highly recommend Goleta Transmissions! read more

Steve and his team performed a great job on rebuilding my transmission and transfer case on my 03 Tahoe Z71. In and out in less than a week. Fair prices (nothing about a rebuild is cheap) and solid work. Also came with a nationwide warranty. Definitely recommend. read more

Avoid at all costs. Transmission job came in completed a week later than proposed, and $600 over the estimate. When we tried to ensure the warranty by having the work reinspected they said they were too busy and would call us in a few days to fit it in. Never called. Then a short while later we began having issues with our starter. The other mechanic we use noticed damage in the gears due to the housing missing a bolt when they reinstalled the starter at the transmission shop. They stripped the housing so no bolt would fit and just left it- so every time we would start the engine the part would shake violently and cause damage to the starter and the flywheel they had just replaced. He did his best to remedy the situation, but within a week it all failed and now we need a new starter and transmission flywheel due to their shoddy work. Sad to see them take advantage of their own local neighbors. Planning to report them to various consumer review and mechanic's boards. read more

Efficient, professional, honest... I felt they did everything they could to make the repair both as good and as inexpensive as possible. Re-surfaced the rotors instead of replacing, tried valiently to save our relatively new battery, which we drained dead a few times. I fret a fair amount about a new mehcanic; will they do a good job? will they bill for unnecessary work? Asked around a bit, everyone said these guys were great. Had our car towed there on a Sunday; talked Monday am, they took care of it. We felt we were in good hands. read more

5 star service! The guys at Goleta Transmission knew right away what was wrong with my Toyota truck. I depend on my truck every day - it's my workhorse! They were able to get my truck axle bearings repaired quickly, and now she drives like new. I'm so pleased with the expertise, quality and service. Highly recommended! read more

They were great! Thought it was a really bad transmission problem but turned out to be something much much much cheaper than that. The amount of times they spoke with me and my son was at least 10 times and they were really thoughtful about us not wanting to spend too much money. Really a top notch place, better than most mechanics out there. read more

Amazing service, a grate shop over all you won't be disappointed Steve is amazing. Rebuild my transmission of a 23 year old truck.

Goleta Transmission did an amazing job on our 1999 Nissan Pathfinder SE 4x4. Steve the owner was responsive, informative, patient and extremely reasonable in a difficult situation. Thank you Steve. Even though we live 75 miles away in Woodland Hills, CA. I may very well take my next car to Steve should it require any type of transmission service or differential repairs; he's that good! read more

Took my 2005 Ford Escape in after having it seen by auto repair mechanic just down the street called Casey's Garage. Our family has used his services for generations. Casey indicated it was leaking transmission fluid. The vehicle was still under ATRA warranty so I took it to this establishment called Goleta Transmission on 74 Aero Camino. They raised it up and after both mechanics looked at it, mind you I am in a transmission specialist garage, told me it was not a transmission issue. They referred me to another garage to isolate the non-transmission issue. Krebs automotive as the case may be. They were kind and complete in their inspection.(09-11-16) I returned to Goleta Transmission with the documents from Krebs that same day and was told to call back on Monday.(09-15-16) This is a good point to mention that I have had repeated throat surgery for cancer and it is hard to understand me at times, especially in the morning. The owner, who's name I never got or am sure is the owner, misunderstood me on the phone regarding reimbursement, which was another 60.00 dollars on top of what I paid for in the first place at Casey's, for sending me to ask someone else if it was a transmission issue. Immediately began to rant and yell at me calling me "crazy and nuts". "Take my f*%king business somewhere else." Clearly his attitude is as loud as his tattoo's. Not ragging on tattoos. They were vibrant and look like good work but you get the point. Santa Barbara and Goleta are very big about word of mouth and believe you and me as a multi generational local I will be telling everyone I know about the experience I was given. Finding it hard to see how this guy has an honest to God 5 star status. Very disappointed doesn't begin to describe this. I have enough on my plate with out some impatient holier than thou yelling and screaming at me. When I am unable to articulate myself very well. Let alone get a word in before having the phoned slammed in my ear. Sincerely, Karma for you.. read more

Took my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee for its 50000 mile service. Transmission was a bit growly in reverse and not very smooth. Got charged for regular service only, but transmission is smoother and quieter than new. Fast service, friendly staff. Got the car back the same day. I'm happy and will be back. read more

Steve the owner and Gabriel the manager took good care of my priceless '72 de Tomaso Pantera. They replaced the clutch, master and slave cylinders. I do not trust this car to many mechanics but they understood my passion and were very understanding. The work was done efficiently and the new clutch works like a dream. read more

Our car had transmission issues while driving on a road trip to Northern California. We were able to drop it off here and they made sure it was in perfect working condition before we completed our road trip. Very friendly with quality service- highly recommend. read more

I recently purchased a high mileage SUV and wanted the transmission checked out and serviced. After looking at online reviews, I chose Goleta Transmission and was not disappointed. I met the owner, Steve Presta, when I dropped the car off, and in our conversation, it was apparent that Steve was very knowledgeable about automobiles in general and transmissions, specifically. The first thing the shop did was do a test drive to check out the overall function of the transmission. During the test drive, the technician noted a sound coming from what appeared to be a front wheel bearing. Upon return to the shop, it was confirmed that a wheel bearing needed replacement and the transmission was working fine and a routine service was all that was required. The shop called me and I authorized the bearing work, and both the transmission service and bearing replacement was completed with 2.5 hours. Great service and reasonable charges for the work performed. read more

Absolutely terrible. Gave me a quote the day before for a small part and labor. I brought it the next day to have it done and he charge me 3x what he told me the day before. Then when I asked about the discrepancy, he lost it at me threatening to take the part out and put the old one back in. And begin to scream like an idiot. Acted like a moron and was unable to discuss it. Just a terrible place- unprofessional, rude, liars, and left with zero peace about my vehicle being good to go. Honestly do not go to these guys. read more

These people are SCAM ARTIST the absolute WORST service after he told us a price he then fixed our car and threatened to take the part out after telling us it was 3 times more in price, then Steve the manager stormed around and threatened to take the whole thing apart if we didn't pay. SUCH BULLSHIT don't ever trust a vehicle here and his fake hair really goes along with his fake personality, couldn't even look us in the eye read more

I never got a chance to write a review for these guys until now but I brought my wife's 2004 Mazda 3 about a year a ago with a intermittent gear light blinking. At first we took it to Mazda and had there Master Tech check it out, probably about 3 times since it only comes and go. There tech could not figure it out each time! Which was really frustrating because we commute everyday and just wanted it fixed. Then a friend of mind recommended us to take it to Goleta Transmissions. After a a day of them fiddling around with our car, they figured it out easily and fixed the issue! I highly recommend this place and the guys that work there are cool! read more
