With the recent rain storms in L.A, we realized that there may be a leak in our rental. The tenant recorded the sounds of rain falling onto the ceiling from the attic. It was a weekend so I started to search for roofing companies to see if any one can come out and at least tarp the roof before the next rainstorm scheduled to arrive in 3 days. I called my previous roofing company and was not able to get a hold of them and did not receive a call back. I decided to check good ol'Yelp and found Golem Roofing with all it's great reviews. I corresponded with them that evening and they were able to go to the house at 11am the next morning. The technician made the repairs and so tarping was not needed. I was only charged $400 for this and so far so good the tenant said he hasn't heard any rain. Andy was excellent and letting me know to contact him if there was still leaking after the repair and they would go back and re-evaluate. Andy of Golem never told me whether the roof needed to be replaced. It has been 20 years so I reached out and he gave me all the details and said they didn't want to be pushy because a lot of homeowners wanted to get a few more years out of their roof. I appreciate his honesty and also I loved that they were not pushing us to get a new roof even though we needed one. I believe that things will not get cheaper and I like to fix things before big issues occur so at this moment I am working with Andy to get an estimate and will go forward with replacing the roof in the next few months. read more
