The gym itself is fine. Nice atmosphere and people keep to themselves. The employees were nice and polite. Nothing wrong on a walk-in level. My frustration is with the cancellation system (which is very much like every other gym ive seen... I thought I found a gym that wouldnt nickel and dime if you cancelled a monthly plan. that was incorrect). I signed up for the $20 monthly plan. It says no commitment, whatever that means. When cancelling I still got charged $70 just to cancel. Really great feeling knowing I had to choose to either cancel my membership, eat another $20 despite not going to the gym as much lately (depression is a struggle), or get food/groceries. Disappointing. I tried to read what I could before signing up, but I guess I missed something that wasn't made very obvious. What does no commitment mean in this sense? I don't really understand now. This problem is not unique to this gym chain--This happens at most, if not all of them. Still I hoped theyd be different. Egg on my face. I will not return. I've been a member of this gym since 3/27/2017. It has definitely changed a lot since I first signed up. There's a lot to love about this gym, but definitely some frustrations as well. I think there's no better value in the Baltimore area. I've been to Merritt, and although it's closer to where I live, I refuse to pay those premium prices. I was a member of Under Armour Performance Center downtown, and although that space is spectacular, the parking was a nightmare. I drive 15 minutes each way to Gold's in Dundalk and I don't have to worry about parking and I have access to a world class gym. There's something about Dundalk, but the people here are friendly and polite. You don't get a douchey vibe here. The gym went through the $1M renovation roughly 4 years ago and they are still adding machines/equipment to this day. They shuffle equipment around from time to time and relocate/repurpose. It's neat seeing the transformation. A couple of gripes I have with this gym is the dumbbell rack and the weights in the wrong place. I've provided feedback on my issues with this for years. There used to be free weights all over the floor. This has improved, but members still do not place dumbbells where they belong. I think this gym needs to label the racks so members know where each weight belongs. It looks like they may have added or upgraded the racks, but there is still some improvement that can be made. Secondly, the men's locker room is pretty gross. It seems like they tried doing something with the lockers, but the toilets and floors are pretty nasty. I do my best to not have to go in there, but I don't know if they have the means to improve this space. read more

(Updated Review, used to be 5 stars) I had to leave going to God's Gym. I used to go there for years before machines started breaking and they would not fix them. I ended up leaving and going to LA Fitness in Canton. Eventually (two years later), I thought I would try going back after their multi-million dollar renovation. I went in and the building was beautiful, BUT THE SAME MACHINES WERE STILL BROKEN. They have multiple cable machines, but only one is fully functional, the ellipticals are still broken after all these years, the handicap shower in the men's room is still inoperable, and there are not enough dumbbell racks for the dumbbells meaning they are haphazardly thrown across the floor in an unorganized mess. So yes, the building looks GREAT! But you didn't fix your machines. read more

If a manager is not present DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A MEMBERSHIP, The way the associates that work here are quick to throw an iPad at you and have you sign up with no real discussion and or details given on the membership/prices you'll get whisked into paying for a whole lot of nothing, there's no real difference between the memberships they offer, and the price they tell you will change immediately after you sign up, then they give all of your information to ABC financial to try and bill you and charge late fees even after you called and notified them that you had a change in banking information etc. In person or over the phone the staff act as if they could careless if you are a paying customer bad attitude amongst misleading information is more than plenty to leave this gym not to mention the environment and smell of the gym are just awful, Now I just have to find time in my schedule between 9am-6pm to go and cancel my membership while a MANAGER IS PRESENT, and I have to give 30 days notice when the kid who signed me up never explained that which goes into why if you're going to sign up for this facility make sure you speak to someone with knowledgeable authority, Been going to this gym in and off for 7 years and it's really been a decline and it's unfortunate. I switched to Exile and after trying just about every gym in the Baltimore County region I have to say this is probably hands down the best gym I have ever experienced. Highly recommend. read more

This is exactly what you should expect for $9/mo. And if you're paying more, you're getting ripped off. First of all, I am convinced that this is where my car is going to get wrecked. There's no easy way to get into this parking lot if you're on the wrong side of the highway. You can either take your chances with trying to u-turn through 3 lanes of traffic, or you can go around to turn left at a light, but that involves another left turn through 2 lanes of oncoming traffic. #funsies. Then just pray that some moron isn't speeding through the crammed parking lot on a mission to i-dunno-where. [This was just my first experience here. I'm sure plenty more where that came from]. The gym itself is filthy, which is odd because I see numerous staff cleaning when I'm there...Literally, my first visit, there was a massive clump of hair on the floor in the locker room. How do you miss that?? Cardio equipment is plentiful but I wish they had more functioning bikes, since basically every single one I have come across has some sort of problem (see attached image). Also please fix your 2nd erg. I will say that they have a cool scanner system at the studio doors for classes so you can scan your membership card to log attendance. [in case you're wondering how they keep track of #basic members vs. those who pay extra for classes]. The movie room is an interesting touch. Overall, you get what you pay for. Gold's has been my gym for over a year now. I live by Patterson Park so it's a bit out of the way compared to Merritt and MAC but Gold's is $10 or so a month to the closer guys' rates which push $100 I believe. For the price you get a pretty awesome gym. They have every machine and piece of equipment I could want and many I never would. Staff and members are friendly...just be careful taking advice from roided out meat heads. I actually heard a dude blaming his bad knees on doing squats through their full range of motion as he was explaining lifting philosophy. Don't drink the punch! Where this Gold's really falls short is cleanliness and maintenance. It's leg day and there are no clips to be found. Kind of irritating! There just aren't enough clips to go with all the stations. That's inexcusable, especially for a gym that bills itself as a bodybuilders' gym. The only other huge complaint I have is that no one reracks weights. Ever! I don't understand why management doesn't either enforce their "rack your weights" policy or hire someone to keep the place neat. It seems so simple but it would make the experience so much better. Aside from these things which are really just annoyances, the gym is pretty great. If you don't mind driving 15 minutes, it's worth it. The price is right. The quality is there. It's just not as polished as the gym that cost 7 times more. But you get what you pay for, right? O ya...the Wi-Fi is mostly useless and lots of the paper towel dispensers don't work. And members have their gym bags all over the floor despite the signs and rules prohibiting it. Then when you try to get a phone number or email to contact corporate (which you're told you can't have) mr. trainer is behind the counter insisting on arguing with you and stating he is going to continue to do his "job" in the women's gym and continues to argue after you tell him you don't want to talk to him anymore literally 3 times. This gym offers a $10/month plan which entitles you to use the facility but not the classes. Enrollment is extra and there seems to be an odd annual surcharge. It is still a great deal though. It is open about 30 hours a day which makes it convenient for everyone. The cardio machines are abundant and most are in decent shape. I have never had to wait for a cardio machine. The free weights and other machines can get crowded during peak times, but if you attend later you will be fine. Overall, if you don't expect a spa environment or a juice bar this is your place. No one seems judging and it is a welcoming place. The cardio cinema is great for extending the time spent exercising, which is a very good thing. There is ample free parking too. read more

Paid for a membership for a year, and barely got to use it. The peak periods of this location are crazy busy and you can barely get a decent workout because all the machines are in use. Cancelled our memberships are went to Merritt. That gym can accomadate peak periods much better. Add in the pools and parking garage, and it makes it worth the extra money. read more

Despite the shutdown in Maryland and other states, and the shutdown of Gold's corporate HQ, they continue to bill for membership even though we can't use the gym. That's outrageous, and all Gold's members ought to be angry. We called to see about a refund, but the best we could get was a freeze. A family member belongs to another gym (Lifebridge Health & Fitness), and they did stop billing until the gym re-opens. This used to be an incredible gym, the best in the area but since a change of management it has steadily gone down hill. A large portion of the equipment is alway broken and takes an exceedingly long time to be repaired. Gym members leave their work out gear all over the place presenting a tripping hazard despite sign stating this is not allowed (not enforced by gym staff). Children are allowed to play on the equipment while parents ignore them taking up already short resources. The parking lot is also constantly filthy adding to the increasing overtone of neglect. read more

This will be my first review ever as I felt I had to protect the gym that has been nothing but outstanding to me after reading the most recent reviews. Unfortunately I do not reside in Maryland year round anymore, but when I am here, this is the first and only gym I will go to. From a equipment and facilities standpoint, this is the biggest gym I have ever been in, but more importantly, this is the only gym I have ever been to where I found that every machine or equipment station available is actually meaningful/useful. They have everything, and I mean everything, that's not a joke. My description does not do it justice. Secondly, the staff is very nice and very helpful, I have never had a problem with any of the staff or members. If you are over the age of 65 and are afraid of contracting covid, I would argue the opposite if you are deciding to go to a public gym in the first place? I would say 95% of the people in there at a given time are following the rules but since it's so big, it would be impossible to make sure everyone is wiping down their seats and wearing masks, but they definitely do a sufficient job at it. I'm still with the gym mainly because of location and cycling classes. I adore the ladies only workout room but the equipment could be better. Front desk people are still rude, except the woman with red hair (sorry, I forgot her name). I've seen her multiple times and my opinion is that she is friendly with EVERYONE she encounters at the gym, which is awesome. You may not remember the person's name but you always remember how you were treated and Genevieve, you take the cake for poor customer service. The gym isn't the most clean but certain areas like the ladies locker room...I don't use. I also don't use the daycare anymore because my sons didn't like it when they went but that was more personal for them. they were a little older than the kids there and they said it was too much screaming :-). Last time I attempted to use the equipment in the theater area, the machines were mostly broken so I went back into the ladies part. So yeah, I'm spending $30 per month and a yearly membership fee of $40 (I think that's the correct amount), to workout in a ladies only setting. But, I know if I join the gym in Canton that is smaller but is a little more "upscale", I'd rarely go. This location is like five minutes, by car, from my house. I've been a member of gold's for years. Heres what you should know: If you intend to use barbells, know that there are loads of barbells, 2 squat racks, 1 power cage. There are bumper plates. The free weight area is hot, humid, and a little funky. The machine selection is ok, but the management doesn't seem to mind if something lifting-centric is broken. Tanning is ok, but the rooms are not climate controlled, and it gets exceedingly warm in the booths. Frequently, employees will cut in front of members that have been waiting. Not cool. The classes seem popular: Show up 45 minutes in advance, or you're out of luck. If you're doing a walkthrough, do not let them tell you they are putting in a pool. Its been "coming soon" since October 2011 when I joined, and they haven't so much as broken ground. For $30 a month, its a decent place to get a work out. Its crowded as hell, and the clientele are exceptionally rude at times. read more

I loved this gym. I say "loved" because I moved and now I have to cancel my membership (traveling for 35 mins just to get there was killing my motivation). Let me tell you why this is one of the best gyms in the baltimore area: 1. PRICE- This gyms 29.99/month membership includes EVERYTHING: tanning, classes, access whenever they are open, and the biggie for me- you can bring a guest...whenever, however many times, for free. That's huge because I love working out and always hated not being able to bring visitors when I was at other gyms without a hefty fee 2. PEOPLE- ok. people. The people at this gym are friendly. I could walk in, and people would recognize me and say hi, ask me how I was doing etc. And that isn't only the people that worked there, it was the other people that worked OUT there. It is a community- which I think is very unique to Gold's- and which I really liked. If you are putting in work- people respect that and are there to help. ALSO PEOPLE WATCHING! Some people complained about a "dress code"? Well...I don't even know what it was, but if they didn't enforce it I'm pretty happy about that. Where else can you see a gigantic man in booty shorts, a woman in an 80's neon unitard, and a guy that looks like he LITERALLY just got back from Vietnam all dominating the free weight section in harmony? no where else. And I like that. I don't go to gyms to to told what to wear and what not to wear, I go to lift weight- and honestly, it's a "got it, flaunt it" atmosphere (at times- not always) and I find that motivational! 3. PURPOSE- This is a bodybuilding gym. Gold's has built it's reputation on that and even with all the fluffy amenities (damn I love that massage chair)- it keeps that image, and draws those crowds. I LIKE THAT. If you are joining a Gold's that is what you are going to get. People will grunt. They are deadlifting the equivalent of your "mini coop"- so let them make some noise! damn. Weightlifters don't go to yoga studios and whine about how serene it is..... (ok now I'm just ranting, and yes I like yoga too) ANYHOO. Really enjoyed my time here- wish there was one in the heart of the city (hint hint). Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because they were lined up to get a pool and then for zoning reasons (i think? not sure) they couldn't make it happen. Update 5-24-2013: So today, I walked into the locker room and placed my glasses and jacket in my normal locker, or so I thought. Locked my stuff up, and worked out. Came back, and my lock wasn't on my locker and my stuff was gone. :( Walked up to the front desk and told Raj, who i assume is the, manager what happened. Not only did he close the locker room down and searched for my stuff, but did it professionally. Come to find out, I put my stuff in one locker and locked another. He didn't make me feel bad at all, and even shook my hand as my dumbass apologized. The BEST customer service ever! Thanks, Raj!!! Tons of machines and a women's gym if you don't want to work out on the main floor. The women's gym needs the same machines that are on the main floor though. The ladies room can get a little nasty on the weekends, as I assume that they don't have as many employees working as during the week. The parking lot is insane during the week! I'd recommend going after 7-8 pm. Overall, decent value for the monthly membership fee. read more

I feel like I am being robbed little by little every month. I am typically smart about giving access to my account to businesses. I just noticed a POS for 39.99, not sure what that's for since my agreed upon membership fee was deducted promptly on August 1. Calling the Billing Manager is a waste of time, she's unpleasant and that's me being generous. I understand when someone is calling about billing they may not be polite, so she's on guard and ready to fight. But once I started speaking with her, in a calm tone, she continued with the same disposition. This has been the 2nd worst financial mistake I have made. The first being going into business with my ex. I am counting down the days until this contract with the devil is over. The group fitness package is a joke. Buyer beware, scam. Somebody tried to burn down the other Gold's Gym I go to (no surprise there, considering the hoodlums that frequent the place) so I had to go here for a week. WOW! This is what all Gold's Gym aspire to be. Clean, MODERN, and well--running machines are all over this gym. I didn't see one "Out-Of-Order" sign anywhere (at the other place, half the treadmills are broken). There were staff members with SMILES on their faces, willing to answer whatever dumb question I had (where's the crapper?). The men's locker room was spotless and did NOT smell like, well, a men's locker room. They have a GIANT movie screen with many treadmills/bikes in front of it, playing the latest movie on DVD. I watched Max Payne (Markey Mark) shoot a rifle repeatedly while keeping my heart rate at a steady 140 beats a minute. A fantastic gym in a town I would not expect to have anything nice. I think I'll drive the extra 4 miles and go here from now on. read more

I can not believe that they are still not allowing you to bring a guest even though that is included in my paid membership! Due to "COVID" you can only bring a guest if the guest pays $5. All the restrictions have now been lifted. There is no more social distancing or masks. So why hasn't this money making scheme been lifted too? When you ask the staff about this they stated that they even ask management when this "temporary" policy will change since everything has went back to normal. I will be contacting corporate. Been a member here for 10+ years. This is a gym so obviously you want to avoid peak hours (4-8pm) if you don't like crowds or waiting for your bench. This place could really use a good deep clean. I was impressed by the service given by Raj, this is not my First time at a gym but is my first time as member of golds gym. a great central location that provides enough space for the large amount of people it holds. I work as a store manager and was blown away by the service provided for signing up. The special detail he took makes me want to trust him. I find to many times large gyms loose that personal touch and i suppose that's why people leave. the equipment and classes are surely going to be explained by some one if needed. This gym has a lot for the membership price. Classes are included in your monthly dues. They have a large free weight area, a cardio theater, a big cardio area in the main part, an abs section, elevated platform for other abs or ball work and the ladies gym for privacy. They also have daycare for 6 month and older kids for really cheap. The TVs are very old and hard to see, not even sure if the audio works through an FM modulator. No WiFi!! This is amazing, need some basic updates on technology. As anywhere, avoid 5 PM unless you like crowds, and there is some motivation there during peek times. read more

Other than that, this gym is great for the price. $29.99 a month includes bring a guest anytime, as many times as you want, classes, and unlimited tanning. There's a sauna, although I've never used it. The women's gym has a few cardio machines and a good space to do some free weights and stretch. I have only been a member at Gold's for a short time but it is the best gym I have belonged to. I go to the Dundalk location. The facility is always clean especially during Covid, I am always seeing the staff doing a great job, vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning the restroom. The front desk always greets me when I come in and say goodbye when I leave. They have plenty of equipment and I have never had to wait to use anything. The other members are also friendly and I have never had any problems with them. I love having one on one training sessions with my trainer trainer Megan W. Of beeline fitness. This gym is absolutely the worst. Drove over an hour to come for posing, not even working out at all, and they refused to let me have a guest pass or come for posing for my *sport*. They also refused to let me use the restroom because "it's for members only". They also harassed my boyfriend about his alliance pass, because the front desk girls were too incompetent and poorly trained to know that the membership qualifies you for every gym across the country. I'm cancelling my membership. My credit card expired in the time of COVID and Gold's Gym Dundalk did not see fit to bill or call me until several months had elapsed. I was notified by a collection agency. I never have bills that go to collection!!! There are plenty of other gyms out there. Very poor management and handling of COVID policies. Employees at the front desk don't wear masks. While there 2-3 employees hanging out at the front desk just talking, nobody is cleaning or sanitizing equipment. I witnessed numerous members walk in without masks. The majority of members in the gym are not wearing masks while not exercising. If you want to get COVID, go to Gold's Gym in Dundalk. Meh, husband signed up with a year long 29 monthly (the highest one) mainly so that we could both go. I wanted to do the classes and the guy signing us up said i could even though I'd be his guest. Turns out i can't. Weights are also always all over the damn place and the leg area down stairs doesnt make sense to me.
