So they have a new TV system and they can't put all the TVs on so they finally figured that out but they can't put them on the machines so you're stuck watching whatever they want to put on and guess what sports all day long. I'd like to see the news in the morning. We get there at 5 AM in the morning and the music is blasting. It Hass to be above the OSHA regulation decimals. Want to do the treadmill if you take it to high it goes right back to the first setting on the Elevation. Bathroom stinks of pee. I brought a lot of music to the attention of the growth counter and she said there's nothing we can do about it when I allowed to change. I said, can I speak to the manager manager at the same time that corporate said we're not allowed to change it and it's a new system and it can't be changed. I said that's ridiculous. I install systems all the time in peoples homes in every system can be lowered. Manager said I can make it louder and also told me to go get headphones that block out the sound. Will not let me get out of our contract ... my daughter tore her ACL and maniacs had surgery....I don't want to even give the 1 star but you can't move forward with out it.... and Peter the owner is a bully just saying .. he lost 4 customers off the bat and I will never recommend them !!! Here's the thing, employees are great. However what isn't great, is the state of their HVAC system. I couldn't figure out why every time I came to the gym, my eyes would tear, and my nose would get stuffy. That is until I made the mistake of looking up at the pipes while on the treadmill. Layers of dust, inches thick, and in clumps. Going to this gym with dust allergies, is a complete nightmare. I hate to have to leave, because they are the only gym in Carmel, but the lack of cleanliness is unfortunately too severe to ignore. read more

I can't say enough good things about this particular Gold's. I am normally a member of my S.C. Gold's Gym, but I come home every so often and go to this gym. I'm my opinion, what makes it so incredible is their staff - they truly go above and beyond their jobs and I am always greeted with a smile and warm welcome. I don't think there has ever been a time where a machine was broken for more than a day. Cleaning supplies are always replenished and all of the members seem respectful of one another. When I come home, this is my go to gym, but mostly because everyone feels like family! Thank you guys for everything! read more

I am impressed with the changes they have made to address Covid and the need for the members to be safe. I have been attending the gym since I retired 3 years ago and made a commitment to better health. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They do not treat older clients as an anomaly but as a welcome addition. The equipment is well maintained and updated regularly. I am a member of NYHRC in NYC and I am a member of this gym because I don't go to the city all the time, and my workout plan is strict. This gym is clean. Staff is friendly. Horrible showers, old equipment, rude staff and overpriced! If you lose your membership card, which is tiny, they charge 5 dollars. Do yourself a favor and go to New York sports club or better yet pay no initial fees and half the monthly due at planet fitness which is ten times bigger and brand new equipment for 10 bucks a month. So I go in to see about membership. Well my insurance company stated that this particular gym offered a discount on the sign up fee. Not the case as I found out and they wouldn't budge. So while I am there I am discussing membership with one of the managers while he holds his 2 year old daughter in his arms. Distracting and unprofessional because he couldn't be listening to me if his daughter is squirming around in his arms while I am asking him questions. That immediately turned me off. I went in with a buddy recently, as he got a "free week pass" for a friend. They immediately informed me I could not use it, as I was a member 8 years ago. I would think you would want to show off your changes and improvements over such a span to a potential new member. So I paid my $10 guest fee. Upon going here, I found that the changes included a smellier locker room, and a dirtier sauna. It appears neither has been cleaned since I was last a member. The machines are outdated and there aren't nearly enough machines/weights for the number of members they have. Luckily NYSC is the same price. read more

I am a member and have submitted a request, in writing, over four times over the course of almost two years to add small shelves in the women's bathroom stalls. I find I have to fumble with my iPhone and bottled water when I go to the restroom as I do not have a locker and wouldn't leave my iPhone (or water bottle) out in the open. Decent gym, open early and late, staff is friendly. Enough treadmills and ellipticals to go around, and usually not overly-crowded. Members range from older adults who are maintaining themselves to younger bodybuilders, but I have never felt uncomfortable exercising among the other members. read more

Im a new member, so far im enjoying this gym. However, they need to post gym ettiquete signs. Plp are having whole conversations while on the machines(treadmill/eliptical) and they are very LOUD like yelling loud! Smfh. They have a smoothie area with tables and chairs for that! Even with my headphones on i can still hear plp talk loud as fuck! Its annoying and rude. This gym need to do something about that ASAP. read more

Be wary of the contract you sign and what the desk representative tells you when signing up. I spoke to the representative and said I need a membership for two months thats it. Than I need it to be canceled after two months because I will no longer be in the area. The representative left a note and said no problem. 2 months later I get a call from an agency asking for the payment. I assure them this is a problem, I must talk to golds gym. I call golds and the man working the counter that day says he does see a note but because I didn't come in to cancel I must pay the payment. Well that's great. Giving buisness to a buisness that does not have integrity will only ensure more Buisness's will do the same. Make a stand against dishonest practices and go to another gym. Much happier with this gym than NYSC. Clean and reasonable membership fees for my husband and I (I also have one at a women's gym but I can't wait till my contract is up there). Friendly staff! The babysitters are good with my daughter. I like you can watch into the nursery, along with individual TVs at the cardio stations. Never a wait for machines and it's clean. I like that they offer a juice bar but haven't used it much. read more

This gym was very decent, it had a nice environment; for the most part people left you alone. I enjoy the free classes that come with your membership. I always recommend Zumba and yoga to people checking out gyms around. They have a great flexible schedule for all classes which last for 1 hour. The changing room is fairly clean and spacious; they offer a sauna as well. I have heard bad things about their child care room in terms of cleanliness. My cousin 4 years old had gotten sick from being there multiple times, this known because he wasn't in school yet and only interacted within the household. Other than that I would say it's a good gym, they have great protein shakes at a fair price. They have tons of useful equipment that is open for anyone to use. The employees here are for the most part very friendly. I would definitely recommend this gym to someone who doesn't want to spend a load of money on working out and wants a casual environment. read more

I've been a member at this gym for 5 years now both as a college break member and with a regular membership. The best part is the free classes that are offered each week. I consistently go to body pump (which is a great strength training workout for people like me who don't use the weight machines) and Zumba. Locker rooms are clean and the desk staff and instructors are friendly. Can't beat the price and would totally recommend!! read more

Very upset- my 15 year old son signed up to go after school at the end of the year he told them he wanted to cancel his membership. He was never told he needed an adult to cancel. So now 4 months later my boyfriend had his credit card charged which he never authorized. He paid for my son a couple times, but when asked if he wanted the card on file he stated No. Which not only was his card charged for months not used but also charged $50 to renew the membership. Golds Gym refused to refund any of the charges especially the $50 renewal fee for a cancelled membership. I stopped in to try to talk to customer service and resolve the issue. The girl at the front was very rude, stating we charge any card used when you don't pay your bill. I explained that we call in the payment when we receive the bill in the mail and that my card should have been the only card on file. I asked for a manager, she stated she was- maybe she needs more training in good customer service. I also asked for the owner and she said No -again poor customer service. read more

Excellent gym for a small town such as Carmel. The staff is polite, friendly, and very helpful; no attitude. The locker rooms are clean. The free weight area is equipped with Hammer Strength and offers a vast arrays of dumbbells (from 5 to 125 lbs). The rest of the equipment is composed of Cybex (leg press, leg extension, leg curl) and LifeFitness machines (lat pulldown, rear delts, chest, triceps ect.). The machines are very well maintained. Carmel Gold's Gym offers a state-of-the-art cardiovascular equipment: treadmills, crosstraining, multi-work-out stations, and bicycles. The owner is often on site to make sure nothing is missing or broken. If you are serious about being in shape and look for a well-equipped gym, Gold's gym in Carmel is an excellent place to train. read more

This review has nothing to do with the gym itself, which is not the greatest.. This has to do with the owner and staff. The inappropriate actions of his staff and the unbelievable unprofessionalism by the owner "Peter" was nothing short of shocking. We had an issue with our account being slightly behind. Two of his staff members on two separate dates spoke to my son's friends (16yrs old) about his account status, and in turn lead to other students in his school harassing him about it. We went there to discuss the situation and met with Agi (manager). She was professional and understood how it was wrong for the staff to be discussing our sons account with other people. We were told the owner will contact us. This is where this situation gets very bad and unprofessional. When he called the following day not once did he offer any sort of apology. In fact he was putting blame on us and our son. We tried to explain to him that this issue was not about the bill, rather it was about the inappropriate comments of his staff and the affect that it was having on our child in school. Not once would he even acknowledge this or show us any kind of remorse or sympathy. He just kept on saying it was our fault. The lack of unprofessionalism from the staff and especially the owner is completely shocking and appalling. The owners lack of caring disgusted us so much we canceled all three of our memberships. Even when we went there and spoke to Peter in person, he would not offer an apology. We strong discourage anybody from doing business with someone with this moral character... read more

I am a mother of three and after having kids i gained a ton of weight. So now I am ready to start getting my figure back and i decided i must join a gym. I have had gym memberships in the past and payed as much a 150 a month. But working out always hurt and never felt very good. Recently a friend told me that the gym down the road only charges 20 dollars a month and for just an extra 20 a month they will babysit my 3 kids for up to 2 hours 7 days a week!!! 40 dollars a month total and i get child care and get to work out!!! the best part is that i took advantage of their 2 free 45 minute training sessions with a trainer and it was the best thing i have ever done. This young man told me how he lost 90 pounds and now does mixed martial arts. He told me a little bit of his story and listened to mine really listened and asked me what my goals were. He figured out where i was going wrong and why i hated the feeling of working out. He taught me to do interval training where i do my wights routine in a specific way then hit the cardio in a way that feels amazing. Now I love working out i get a euphoric high from it and the staff at the gym are so friendly and helpful and great with my toddlers. Some days I just sit with a cup of coffee and chat with the staff for a few minutes just to get some adult time away from the kids before hitting the machines. I love it and I love the staff there they really made working out go from torture to bliss. read more
