I moved to Danbury last summer from Westchester, and had previously belonged to New York Sports Club. When their spin schedule no longer fit with my work schedule, I decided to give Prime Time Fitness a try. My mother had recently joined, so I went with her as a guest to see if I liked it before joining. The spin classes are okay - not the greatest music selection and a lot of the bikes are unstable and feel very old. The yoga class was a complete joke. I've never in my life done yoga in a brightly lit room led by someone who seemed as though he was making up the sequences as he went along. It was more of a stretching/toning class coined as yoga. I figured I would still use the gym if only for the spin class. However, the class instructors don't pick the greatest music, which is a big problem for me. Moreover, there are no towels and no water fountains in this gym. I've never before seen that. For $70 a month, I expect much more. When I signed up, I told the person I met with that I was joining this gym primarily because there is no contract involved like there is at New York Sports Club. He didn't tell me at the time that there is, in fact, a stipulation that you need to make 12 payments before you are allowed to cancel, or else pay a $200 early termination fee. I didn't learn of this until I cancelled this week. Save your money and go somewhere else - don't use this gym until they improve their standards.

This place is an absolute dump. What used to be a great gym is now a filthy, overheated scam run by…read moresomeone more interested in Instagram clout than actual coaching. The equipment is disgusting, the bathrooms are vile, and there's zero effort put into cleanliness or basic upkeep. There's not even air conditioning. Don't fall for the outdated Google or Facebook reviews -- most are from years ago and completely irrelevant. The owner posts recycled photos of long-gone members to fake a sense of community that no longer exists. Meanwhile, they film you during workouts for free advertising, not to help you improve. Pricing is shady and random. You'll likely pay more than someone else for the same membership, and they bill every 28 days, meaning 13 payments a year instead of 12. I've had multiple billing disputes and am now filing with my credit card company because the owners won't even respond to emails. Nearly all the coaches and members with any value have left. This isn't a gym anymore -- it's a money pit wrapped in sweat, dust, and lies. Stay far away. And my advise is if you do sign up only pay in cash as once they get your credit card they will just charge it continually. Thank you for reading AND BEST OF LUCK!

I said HA YEAH RIGHT CAN'T DO THAT, and Lauren immediately said "yes you can" and stayed with me to help me through it. Guess who doesn't need help anymore? ME! If you're not sure, just try it out. I didn't grow up playing sports, and every time I tried something new, it only lasted a short while. My sister-in-law had been a member in Georgia for years, and when Burn finally opened in Connecticut, I signed up during a promo. I've been there ever since!!! This May, I'll be celebrating two years as a proud Burn Danbury member! The trainers are incredible. They push me, encourage me, and believe in me -- sometimes even more than I believe in myself. They know what I'm capable of and motivate me to reach it. They are my inspiration, they are my accountability partners, they are friends. The people are just as amazing. Moms like me, married couples, dads, college students, high school students, retirees -- all working hard to be a better version of themselves. We live off high fives as we move from station to station and we leave every single camp sweaty, spent, and SO happy we showed up! One of the biggest bonuses for so many of us is the free childcare included with membership. On Saturdays, my husband and I get to work out together without worrying about taking turns so someone is watching the kids. He joined a month after I did -- also not a "gym person." Now, in our 40s, we are in better shape than we've ever been. What truly sets Burn apart, though, is the community. The friendships we've built over the past two years extend beyond camp. We stay after to do "just one more" exercise challenge together, we care about each other's goals, we cheer each other on to hit personal records, we even meet up monthly to hang out and get to know each other off the gym floor. It's truly more than a gym -- it's a community I am forever grateful for. If you're on the fence, take the leap. You won't regret it. And if you take that leap, come say hi!

I am *that* person in the class. But you really can modify the workouts and adapt them to what you're capable of. 90% of the floor exercises are literally impossible for me to do correctly at my fitness level, so I just do whatever version of them I'm able to, or I skip to the next one. The coaches may gently correct your form, but they aren't going to hassle you - they respect that everyone in the class is at different levels. Plus, they can see how hard you're trying because everyone's color level (gray, blue, green, orange and red) is displayed on a board on the wall. So in my case, it may look like I'm slacking because I can barely do anything, but all they have to do is look up at the board to see that I'm in the red and am actually dying! It's comforting to have that up there to prove that I'm doing my best. Both classes, I've burned 500-600 calories, and the hour goes by super fast because you're switching pretty quickly between activities. It's great for people like me who usually get extremely bored working out. Afterwards, they email you your workout summary with the calories you burned, splat points you earned, etc. It'll also show up in the app if you have it. This is very helpful if you're trying to lose weight and are a calorie-counter. The unlimited membership is the best deal ($179 per month to go to as many classes as you want.) I signed up for it today and am really excited to start seeing results!
