It's a good gym environment but it doesn't seem like they enforce their guest to wipe down machines after use

I started at Powerhouse Gym in Brewster, NY, with a free workout session with Chuck, and I was immediately impressed. That same day, I signed up for five sessions with him--and eventually added 20 more. Chuck is an excellent trainer who truly understands how to push you while keeping workouts engaging and effective. I've been very happy with the progress I've made under his guidance. Chuck makes rescheduling easy, which has been a huge help. If you're looking for a knowledgeable and supportive personal trainer, I highly recommend Chuck! The worst Gym I have ever been to it's filthy it's disgusting there's mold on the ceiling in the vents every time the heating and the air conditioning turns on all the mold spores shoot into the air and you breed them in. read more

Convenience, price, and accessibility is why I chose this gym. It's just okay, though. A couple of things that can't be overlooked: - Install a damn water fountain, for goodness sake. Not everyone wants to buy a sports drink, nor has money on them when working out. Water is a need that should be accessible (and free). - Lack of variety in fitness machines. It's a small space, there's no reason why you need to have two leg and hamstring curl machines. Cut it in half and replace the others with equipment you don't already have. - Classes. I'm paying to use the aerobic space as well, yet find it hard to get in there and do what I have to before getting kicked out. I wouldn't have an issue with this if there was another area of the gym to set down and bang out HIT exercises. There isn't. You get what you pay for, and it's not terrible, but it has the potential to be better. Too bad this franchise doesn't look into expanding the space and building it out. What they do have is clean and in good condition, and the clientele is respectful of one another. read more

I have to update my review, originally two stars given three years ago. World Gym in Brewster is now under new ownership, and they made substantial improvements. All new equipment, state of the yard. Bathrooms and entire gym is much cleaner. I'm very happy with the direction it's going, been a member for almost 10 years. read more

I have been a member since day one (and even before that under the old owners). One of the best facilities to work out in, by far!!! The staff is excellent and the facility is clean...even the locker/bath room! No pressure, just work out at you own pace. The members are awesome too! Just do it! Paul D. read more

I started going to World Gym in Brewster because I needed flexible hours to fit in my busy schedule and you have access 24/7. I chose the gym because I knew they supported local sports teams through fundraiser donations at local events. It is also conveniently right off rte 22 and has a rear parking lot with a ramp (great if you suffer from any injuries). The fitness and yoga classes are fun, diverse and teachers really care about the participants. The gym allows for family participation and promotes youth programs. I have no complaints! read more

Great management and trainers. It is always clean and has great equipment. The athletic side was recently remodeled and it is great.

The staff is always professional, the gym is always clean, and it's 24 hours.

The gym has improved since my last visit (6months ago). I took the yoga class. The instructor did not show or explain modifications that would have helped the beginner and the out of shape. From taking yoga classes in the past I knew how to make modifications for my safety. It will be a good work out when I am in better shape. read more

Sorry but not sorry. I joined about 4 years ago and had to join another gym. First off they tried to tell me I didn't pay my monthly fee when my Capitol One card showed otherwise. 2nd it's like a glorified walk in closet sharing a space with another bullshit business. I only joined because it 2 miles away and open 24/7. I work late hours so I needed a gym that fit my schedule. Every time I arrived I had to contend with illegal immigrants and their entire family members who apparently " Clean " the place. Um 4 kids under the age of 5, Cousins , aunts , Uncles etc etc. They are all laying or leaning on machines shoving a vacuum under your feet as you try and workout. Never any drinks in the vending machines and maybe a total of 15 broken down machines taped up. They had the nerve to charge $39 a month for a room the size of a glorified closet. And those people with their cellphones sitting on machines texting ? WORK OUT YAH MORONS! read more

This is an awesome gym! New owners took over in July and the gym has improved so much. Renovations have been done; there is a brand new aerobic room, all new cardio and other equipment, and it's clean! read more

Horrible gym! Not a ember for years yet they suddenly started charging my CC again. Started receiving collection agency calls. Owner said would take care, failed to do so nor send letter as promised. Three months later, same thing, collection calls and owner has audacity to say that this is "no big deal" and lost patience with me. It is a big deal, it's called fraud! Check out the BBB for corporate review and then decide if you want to run risk of these people having your information! STAY AWAY!! read more

I had been a member for 4 years and gladly cancelled it out today! If you like a dirty workout, out dated equipment (lucky if they works) then the gym is great for you. In the summer, the sun is in your eye in the afternoon if you are on the treadmill and the place ac is not working as it should, so enjoy the warm sweaty musty air when you working out.. hum.. perhaps that will help you increase your lung capacity? If your billing credit card expires, rather than send a note or some sort of reminder, they will automatically assigns a 20 buck charge. Since you are on automatically payment plan, so you are not getting any statement, so you don't know about expired credit card situation and a few months later you will be a letter from a collection company.. woot woot.. read more
