I had purchased a warranty through Home Depot, and Gold's was the contracted repair shop. When my dishwasher broke, I contacted the warranty company, they scheduled me with Gold's. A day later, I got a phone call from someone with Gold telling me that they had to reschedule my appointment for the next day, and the whole conversation was as if I was inconveniencing his busy schedule. Ok, busy, I get it, no big deal.
When they came out for the appointment, they were insanely rude. Communication was purely annoyed mumbles on their end. I told them I'd be in the living room (which they knew where it was because they had to walk through it to get to the kitchen) as to stay out of their way. The older gentleman started yelling "HELLOoOoOo WHERE ARE YOOOOOOOU!" I literally leaned over the doorway, and he told me I needed to sign something, I asked what was going on, he told me the issue and that I had to sign. Then he and his partner bee-lined for the door. It then occurred to me that I didn't know if the problem was fixed or if they had to come back, so I dashed out to meet their van, and I swear, I've never seen such condescension as when they said they had to order the parts.
So another week goes by before they contact me. The appointment is set for several days later. The men come again, and the older gentleman makes some rude statements about the stuff on my counters (which in no way inhibited their work, and were left there because we expected to have a working dishwasher that day). I again stepped out, because I hate having people stand over me when *I* work. After a few minutes I get that "HELLOoOoO" again. I'm told that they ordered the wrong parts, they don't know how it happened, and then lectured on how to fill my pre-rinse and run water beforehand as if they were explaining it to my children instead of me. Then they left.
Later that day, they called to say that they'd left a screwdriver and a towel in my kitchen, and I could either bring it to their shop or wait until they came back. Which really isn't a huge annoyance in the grand scheme, but it was irritating on top of everything else.
After a week and a half of silence, I called to ask what was going on. They told me that the warranty company didn't have the part in stock (covid related issues) but they did, and were waiting on approval for a buyout. I implored them to try. Another week goes by without communication, I have to call again. The woman sort of rambles something, so I ask what it would cost to pay for all of the repairs out of pocket. She says she has to call me back.
Y'all, I am not kidding when I say that the price I was quoted was NEARLY TWICE what the dishwasher cost. I mean, I get that prices have risen, but my goodness.
I've spoken to the warranty company several times. They have absolutely no record of a buyout request from Gold's. None. And I know things can slip through the cracks with international call centers, but given my on going experience, I feel that there's hefty fault on both sides
Between issues with them and the warranty, I went and bought a new dishwasher elsewhere, and am already searching Yelp for a future repair shop. read more
