My wife and my dog recently died due a battle with cancer. We were referred to Golden State Pet Crematorium which is in Livermore, we live in Oakland. I wanted to shoutout the staffer who helped us, Kass, who was very friendly, responsive and respectful and answered all of our questions in a timely manner. There are some options when a pet passes. We scheduled our vet to help us with in-home euthanasia, and we made plans to bring our dog to Golden State. They had a room available to us to say goodbye, we even brought our other dog with us to say goodbye. The have a variety of package options (custom urns, etc.), we had our own plans in mind but Kass was not too pushy in trying to upsell options. When you dropoff a pet for cremation, they say they will turn that around in 7-10 business days, I think they did it in 6. It feels a little weird to review a pet crematorium, but we have another dog at the moment, and we'd consider using Golden State again. read more

That said, I just wanted to say thank you to Shane again for his true patience, professionalism, kindness and understanding throughout the whole process. A friend recommended me to Shane and Golden State Pet Crematorium after she lost her fur baby. When the time came after Indy; my dog, passed away, I contacted them the next day. They said that we could come in asap and that there was no wait period, which I appreciated. On top of that, he empathized and was patient with me when I sobbed on the phone because it happened so soon. Which I truly appreciated since it proved to me that Shane is a real one. We cannot thank Golden State's services enough for the care, compassion, and respect they showed us during our pet's final journey. From the unexpected very first phone call the day before, they patiently walked me through the process while I was extremely emotional and overwhelmed. They were calm, kind, and never rushed us. The gentleman who met us at the hospital to transport our baby was thoughtful and respectful. We chose a private viewing and cremation, and while it was more expensive than other options, I wouldn't trade that experience for the world. When we arrived at the facility early the morning of, before the viewing or cremation, we brought breakfast as a small thank you for their compassion. They were genuinely surprised (said it's never been done before), which only spoke further to the selfless care they provide. We were given a private room set slightly away from the reception area, which provided much needed privacy. The room was simple but serene, with a couch, tissues, and a infant changing table style setup. Our baby had already been peacefully laid on the changing table with a small blanket, as if he was just sleeping. Being able to close the door, take our time, hold him, talk to him, cry, and say goodbye without interruption meant everything. They then carefully explained and showed us each step and allowed us to choose how involved we wanted to be, which we deeply appreciated. The whole process only took a few hours and our soul baby was rested in a nice temporary urn while we waited for our custom one. Our requested paw prints, nose prints, and hair clippings were also ready and prepped for us. This was our second time losing a fur baby, but our first experience with this company, and I truly cannot imagine handling such a loss any other way. Highly recommend. read more

I've done a lot of research to find the right place to cremate my daughter, my best friend and the love of my life. I've been a complete wreck for the last week and even considered a place in Los Angeles, but I chose Valley Pet Loss Center / Golden State Pet Crematorium after speaking with Donna. In short, it was a drive and it was the most difficult thing I had to do in my life, but I'm glad I did this for her. I chose the private cremation with same-day pickup. Donna, the other gentlemen in the office, and the two techs were all wonderful. I can't thank them enough. I know it's a tough job and they must see people like me all the time, but they were all sympathetic and let us know what's happening throughout the process. I called Donna with questions 3 times and she answered patiently every time. It's been so hard even thinking about what happened, but I feel it's important to post this for others that are in the same situation. Here's how it worked. We paid for the following * $320 private cremation * $150 same day pickup * $50 clay paw print (totally worth it!) * $20 ink paw print (if you want witnessed cremation, it must be in the morning and I believe it's $300 more than the same-day. This will give you time with your baby in the cremation room and they will set your baby out nicely before the chamber is even heated.) First, I scheduled a time over phone. We opted for the same-day pickup because I couldn't stand leaving my baby there. If it's for a same-day pickup, you need to choose your urn and what you want to have put on the label. On the day, I thought I was ready, but it turned out I was a complete disaster. I recommend having someone drive you while you have your baby on your lap. Bring tons of kleenex and water bottles. The last drive together. We arrived. It's an office complex. The heat and smell of ash. Donna walked me through if I wanted Paw Prints, YES PLEASE and I paid. The bamboo urn was really cute, but once again broke my heart that the baby I wrestled with is going to become that small by the end of all of this. Donna placed the ID tag on Cashew's leg. This ID tag is unique and will be what's left with the ashes. That ID tag will be placed on the bag with the ash in the end to ensure that no mix up should occur. We got to spend time with her in the quiet room. Trust me, we went 30 mins early and we were still late. It's impossible to say good bye so have a cut off time in mind. I'm still not ready even after the cremation if that makes any sense. I can't believe I can never touch her fur again. Totally crushed and I don't think I can ever recover from this. Tech gently knocked our door and asked if we had any questions on the process. She told us how much time it will take and told us we need to start soon if we want to pick her up the same day. We asked if she take her favorite items to cremate together. We gave her favorite snacks she used to wake up to just from the smell and the bones she used to hide under her bed and the blanket she used to sleep on. I didn't want to give her the blanket. The blanket she slept on, but I thought she could use it in heaven. You can go up to the door of the cremation room. The door has a window, but you won't be able to see too much. The tech took 30 mins to make the clay paw print and the paw print. Once the cute paw print came out, I was so happy that I received an art work from Cashew. Quickly after, reality sets in. You can't see your baby enter the chamber, but you can see your baby there and the flame reflecting against the wall. This was hard to watch and I broke down, but we wanted to be there for her until the very end. The gentlemen working there handed us kleenex. The tech was very respectful and only showed us her back. Then gave us a thumbs up with a smile once all was done. During the process, you can take a 10min walk around the corner and we printed some special moments at CVS's photobooth and ate at a cafe. I didn't realize I didn't even eat much that morning. I was hungry, but still couldn't eat. 1.5 hours later, Donna called me and said "Cashew is ready!" I didn't realize until then, but Donna always referred to my baby as "Cashew" like she was still there. Not like "your cremation is done" or "your dog's ashes are ready" I really really appreciated this. It gave me joy that Cashew is still there. Thank you. I hope this review can help you through this difficult time. Our babies are the BEST and I know you're reading this because you care about your baby so much that he/she is taken care of even after death. Our experience with GSPC was awesome! The hardest thing anyone goes through is a loss of a beloved pet. Working with GSPC helped alleviate the pain from the loss with awesome service with the utmost compassion. We've elected to cremate our beloved Pomeranian Bob via a witnessed cremation. Although it was expensive, it was crucial to us that the remains we received was our beloved pet. Witnessed cremations also takes a lot longer than a private cremation, since the crematory machinery goes through a startup or warmup sequence before the burners are fired. Only then, the remains can be processed. With a witnessed cremation, we're allowed to say our last goodbyes to our Bobby, then witnessed them place Bobby with utmost care and compassion into the Crematorium. Their equipment seems top notch too; there's multiple chambers for individual pets which will guarantee you even more that the remains you receive is that of your pet. Not only that, a flame proof tag with a serial number is attached to your pet. When you receive your pet's remains, you will get that tag back as a guarantee that this will be your pet. Not quite the place anyone would want to do business with, however, if we have the need to, we will always choose GSPC. The care and compassion on how they cared for our Bobby was exemplary! Finally, the only issues I had using GPC. Note that this is very minor and not a reason to mark my experience with any less than 5 stars: * The GSPC website needs to have the address updated. GSPC recently merged with Valley Pet Loss and is now located in Livermore. One of our family members ended up going to their old address only to find out they have moved to another location that was kinda far away * When I picked up my pet's remains, it seems like the Crematorium's exhaust system had issues as the inside of the office smelled like the exhaust emissions of the crematorium. read more

I had my husband reach out via email since it was pass their hours of operation. The surprising call back and email reply AFTER HOURS gave us a bit of relief because we were able to get the questions we needed and couldn't think of waiting until tomorrow morning since we didn't know what to do. Unfortunately, my cat ended up passing at night around 8PM. Haley gave us a quote over the phone. The price is depending on the pets weight and the service you want. I would recommend calling and/or emailing them to see which direction you would want to go. Honestly, there is no price we wouldn't pay to make sure our beloved pet is treated well after they passed. I opted to receive the ashes back and picked out an urn. You can check out their website to see the urn selections they offer. Payment is cash or card. I went to drop off and said farewell to my cat one last time and we were crying as we walked up to the place. Also note that they crematorium is located behind the Groveway vet hospital and the way to get in and out is odd. The vet clinic and crematorium are some what affiliated with each other so in case you can only swing by after hours to pick up your pet's ash, you can actually stop by the vet clinic. Really kind people who were really kind to me during a difficult time (which was made even more difficult by the COVID-19 pandemic). Most people send their companion animal's bodies off from the vet's and a few weeks later receive the ashes in the mail, but I felt very strongly that I wanted to drive my cat's body to the crematorium, be there while his body was cremated, & bring his ashes directly back home -- and the good folks at Golden State worked with me so that I could pay that last act of loving respect to our cat. I don't even know where to start with this company and their amazing staff...the care and compassion they show for those grieving the loss of their pet babies is just TOP NOTCH! I sadly lost my best girl, my female lizard, back in December during an operation she was having at neighboring Groveway Vet Hospital. It was out of the blue somewhat and really threw me out of whack. This lizard was my whole beating heart. I loved and continue to love her dearly. I made an account just to be able to review this amazing business! My dog died Sunday in the early morning hours I called Golden State Crematorium Monday morning and spoke to Al. Immediately Al gave me his sincerest condolences that you could feel was extremely genuine. He than began to explain their options, procedure, and prices. I told him what I was thinking about getting and he let me know how much that would be. Due to the sudden passing of my pet and my wishes money was a bit tight for me but he worked with me to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. When I got there and paid for everything I was able to walk my dog to the back where I met Haley. Haley then asked if I wanted sometime with my dog one last time before leaving her. I told him I did he uncovered her then answered some questions about the speed of decomposition while cleaning her face for me. He told me to take as long as I want and needed to with her. Once I was done I asked if my family could spend a minute or two with her and he said of course. After my family said their goodbyes Haley went over my order one more time with me to make sure he had everything right. He then told me if I had any questions to give him a call about anything and he'll assist me. I got a call this morning informing me that my pet was ready. I just picked up my dog and her paw prints and I couldn't have been more pleased with everything. They truly made this horrific moment of my life a lot more tolerable and took all of the stress of how to or what to do away completely. I lost my beloved pug, Olive, 10/26/19. Her vet uses Golden State's services for cremation and I arranged for an individual cremation through the vet. The next day I realized I wanted a paw print and private cremation. I emailed Gold State and Haley called me and I was able to arrange a paw print and private cremation. Haley explained everything clearly and concisely. The day of Olive's cremation they had her ready for me to see. She was laid out on a satin cloth with flowers. I had private time with her and stayed while Alvaro placed her in the chamber. It gave me the closure I needed. Haley called a few hours later to let me know Olive was ready to come home. Both Haley and Alvaro were so kind, compassionate, and professional. Unlike "human" funeral homes, you are in the building where the cremations happen in the building behind the vet building. A few weeks ago our dog's health was declining and it did not look like she was getting better. That Sunday night my family had the difficult conversation and decided it was time to have her euthanized. I found an in-home euthanasia service and was going to book an appointment as soon as possible in the morning. However, our baby did not make it, she passed away in the middle of the night. ;( I searched for a pet crematorium place in the East Bay that was open early in the morning. I decided on Golden State Pet Crematorium because of the positive reviews and that they opened the earliest, at 8am. They along with the Groveway Veterinary Hospital made the process of getting cremation service simple. We called the vet hospital at 8am to ask if we could bring her in that morning and Griselda said yes. We were advised to leave her body in the car while we go to the front of the building for paperwork. We headed over to them right away. We decided on a communal cremation and paw print. Griselda and the other receptionist were warm and sympathetic when they knew why we were there. I appreciate that. After providing some info and payment, we headed to the back of the building. When Alvaro initially asked if we wanted to say goodbye after they make the paw print, I said no because we already said goodbye at home and I did not want to bawl my eyes out again. I'm thankful that he asked us again after giving us her paw print. It turns out my parents wanted to see her one more time. We went into the room and they went outside with the door closed a bit to give us privacy, it was then that my mom and dad finally cried and I am so grateful we got to see, touch, and tell her how much we love her one last time. Thank you, Alvaro. And he also asked if we wanted her to be cremated with her blanket... that was really thoughtful. I wish I had brought some of her favorite toys with her.
