I would give zero stars if I could and I would NEVER wish my experience with Blue Creek Pet Cremation on anyone who loves their pet. I called Blue Creek (based on all the great Yelp reviews) on a Thursday and spoke to Kevin about their witnessed cremation services. The next day I call Blue Creek back to make an appointment because our little pug dog was going to be put down on Monday. I speak to Kevin again (who claimed to remember me) and he makes the appointment for Monday February 14th at 2pm. Later that morning Kevin texts me a confirmation of my appointment on Monday at 2pm, and the address to their facility (screenshots included). I show up on Monday the 14th at 2pm cradling the body of my dead dog and a woman named Michelle tells us that they don't have us on the books and can't take us. She also adds in that her propane setup wasn't working right so her morning appointments were all backed up. Seriously? She barely apologized and then said she "couldn't find her husband" to confirm if he'd taken the appointment. She didn't even bother to talk to us outside and instead we had to shout to each other over the roaring cremation chambers that were on. Who does this?!?! I was DEVASTATED. The whole reason I wanted our dog's euthanasia and cremation to happen on the same day was to avoid having to put his little body on ice, but I was forced to. I found an AMAZING cremation service in Livermore that allowed a fully witnessed cremation, and we had Oscar's service that Thursday. Stay away from Blue Creek Pet Cremation! read more

This place is fantastic. Our beloved Ninja passed away Thursday morning and I called Kevin ASAP and he was so understanding of my needs and told me to come in the same day. I am reviewing Blue Creek again. Since my original review I have lost 2 rescues. Both entrusted to Blue creek. I cant say enough about Kevin and his wife Michelle. This is a family business owned and run by animal lovers. You can 100% trust them with your fur baby. It doesn't matter if you want to be there or not. They will make sure your pet is cared for. Kevin follows human standards with regards to the cremated ashes. I prefer to go to the cremation. That's just me getting closure. This time was a little different for me as I wanted my Luna to be at home. I called to set up the at home euthanasia but she did not make it through the night. She passed at home in my arms surrounded by her family. I had to call Kevin at blue creek on a Sunday night as I did not know what to do. My teddy bear(Syrian Hamster) died on March 9th 2021 I got her as a present by my boyfriend on November 8th 2019. My very first dog Shelly was on her way to doggie heaven yesterday, so I needed to find a pet cremation center. I saw the reviews and the stories past customers had to tell about this place and I knew this was the one. I've never had to make these types of arrangements before. I brought Shelly to Blue Creek and Kevin took care of the rest. The process was quick and easy. You had the choice to stay for the cremation, but I opted out since I already said my goodbyes the night she passed. It only took about 2 hours. The service also includes a wooden box from their standard collection with a name plate attached to the front and a Certification of Cremation. You can also request a little bag of hair from your pet for a keepsake. I highly recommend this place especially if its your first time arranging a cremation for your pet. When my daughter and I saw K.B.'s post and picture of her sweet little lovebird, we knew we had found the right place for Max. I don't know what Carol B. and Marie S. are talking about because this guy is awesome. FYI the website is a storefront, not a physical address, and Kevin the owner does answer the phone when he's available. He is not "open" weekends or 24/7, it is a small honest business. There are still some of those around. Kevin met us at the door when we drove up and was very kind. His prices are very reasonable and he has a large inventory to choose from. The service comes with a "standard" wooden box with a swirly design on the top that we both thought was very pretty, but my daughter wanted something a bit smaller. She chose a tiny blue enamel urn for the lovebird who shared her life for 15 years. Kevin mentioned there was an avian vet in Oakley who liked that urn too. What are the odds he'd know Max's old vet? We knew there was a higher power at work. This guy's not out to make a quick buck or take advantage of people who are grieving. If you are reading this chances are you recently lost a beloved pet as I did recently. I would like to say/show two things: First, we used Blue Creek Pet to have our dearest Toppy cremated. We were able to contact them on a Sunday when most other places were closed or unavailable. It was a bit of a drive to Tracy but we didn't want to go to bed Sunday night without knowing where we were going to take Toppy on Monday morning. The price was very reasonable and even included a carved wooden urn. They did not press for an upgraded urn at all but we wanted one with room for Toppy's picture so we asked for an upgrade version. Both Kevin and Michelle were kind and understanding waiting patiently while my wife and myself both cried saying goodbye to Toppy. I would highly recommend Blue Creek Pet Cremation, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. The second thing I would like to say to those of you who are grieving as I did and want to relieve some of the grief: A Grief Consultant told me that writing a letter to a loved one who has passed away expressing your feelings is a good way to help reduce the grieving. Your Mom and I loved you from the day we brought you home from that PetSmart Store in Gilroy. Sister Shadow doesn't cry out loud but she is clearly distressed and just lies around moping most of the time. Frank, Gail, Tom, and so many others have expressed their distress at your passing and offered us their condolences. You are missed by so many! In recent weeks you and Shadow went to the back fence around 2:00 p.m. each day to get a cookie from Mary. The first few days you were gone Shadow didn't go out at all. The last two days she has gone to the fence and when Mary gives her a cookie she takes it and puts it on the lawn for you then goes back to get her own. Eventually Mom and I will get another dog so Shadow can have a companion much as we got Shadow so you could have a companion. I have no doubt that we will love the new dog much as we love Shadow. But I am absolutely sure that we will never love another dog more than we love you. You will always be in our hearts and minds. You were really something special. If you really are up beyond a Rainbow Bridge then I hope you are aware of what I am writing and how I feel. Even if not I wanted to put in writing just how I feel to make sure I have something to keep and be sure I never forget you. THE SHORT VERSION I chose Blue Creek because I wanted to do a witness cremation, making sure it was my cat getting cremated and that I was going to get my cat back. Blue Creek charged a reasonable $180 for my 8 pound cat. (depends on weight) I witnessed my cat being placed in the chamber. 2-3 hours later, I had my cat back. Other places charged a lot more for witness cremation. Blue Creek is in a metal building. It's not for someone who needs a touchy/feeling cozy place. It's to make sure your pet is the one that's going to go home with you. Kevin and Michelle were pleasant. After you make the appointment, they give you the location to drive to for the appt. The address that's listed on their web site is a mailing address. They also do private individual cremation where you drop off your pet and pick up a couple days later. My review is on the witness cremation. I read that pet cremation businesses in CA are unregulated (various articles can be found on the internet), so there's easier chance of fraud. That's not to say that pet cremation businesses in CA are fraudulent. But if you want to be sure it's your individual pet that's being cremated, Blue Creek provides that service at a reasonable cost and Kevin and Michelle are pleasant to work with. THE LONG VERSION My elderly kitty was sick and we knew it was going to be "time" soon. My friend in another state had a horrible experience when her kitty was cremated; she received a box back that had another kitty's name on it. Sometime later, the news reported that her animal crematory was unethical, dumping the bodies. When my friend's next kitty passed away, she did a witness cremation. That's when I first learned of witness cremation and knew I wanted to do a witness cremation for my kitty when the time came. I had to be certain I was going to get back my cat's ashes and not something or someone else. I called my vet and also pet cremation businesses to find out prices. I discovered options included group cremation (you get a scoop of ashes back which may or may not include your pet; or they scatter the ashes for you), private cremation (your pet only), and witness cremation (your pet only and you can witness the process). Prices depend on weight. Prices varied drastically. The prices below are based on an 8 pound cat at Blue Creek. $180 individual private cremation $180 witness cremation They are the same price. You can drop your pet off, leave, and pick up in a couple days when your pet is ready to go home, OR you can stay for the witness cremation and watch your pet being processed that same day. You need to make an appointment. For an 8 lb cat at an 11am appt with witness cremation, we did the paperwork, chose from standard urns (standard urn comes with the $180 price for cremation), chose an urn necklace (approx $40 extra), watched our cat being placed in the heating chamber, left the site, then came back and picked our cat up in 2-3 hours and was done by 2pm. There were 2 other groups of people there when we went back to pick up our pet. For the cremains, depending on things, we learned that some of the bone fragments might need to be grounded down a bit. The ashes do need to cool down before handling. So that is part of the processing time. Blue Creek is for people who want to make sure their pet is the one that's cremated and the one that they are getting back. I needed to know my pet was the one I was getting back so that's why I chose Blue Creek. Blue Creek also has reasonable prices. It is out in the fields of Tracy at the end of a paved road. The building is a large metal barn-like structure. You park in the dirt. It is not a touchy/feely place. Kevin and Michelle were both nice. I spoke with Kevin on the phone and exchanged texts with him. Kevin mentioned if you want paw prints, it's easier to get paw prints from a non-frozen paw. Michelle was the one who greeted us when we went to their location. Their location is not the same one that's listed on their web site. When you make the appt, they give you the location to go to. There are 2 chambers for cremation. The standard urn came with the $180 cost. There are about 10 standard urns to choose from. The name plate was clean and simple and came with the cost. (I think you can add more to the plate for an extra cost.) Fancier urns and other things were on the shelves that you can buy for extra. Urn necklaces are approx $40. The necklaces look better in person compared to their web site. After they put some of your pet's ashes in it, they seal it with glue so it doesn't come undone by accident. You get a certificate that they cremated your pet and you can ask for a lock of fur before they process your pet. Side note: If you call the Pets at Peace phone number that's listed as being in San Ramon, you will get Blue Creek since Blue Creek now has that phone number in addition to their regular phone number. read more
