Our sweet girl's health declined very suddenly...she couldn't sleep, was struggling to breathe, and her heart was failing. Although she was initially fully booked, she took the time to speak with us and even recommended other in-home services to try. Unfortunately, none had availability, and we were preparing ourselves for a traditional vet visit...something we knew would cause our already fragile girl a lot of anxiety. Then, Dr. Wensing called back. She had a cancellation and could come that same day. It truly felt like a blessing. She arrived with such compassion and calm presence, and because of her, our girl was able to pass peacefully in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family. It meant everything to us to give her that kind of goodbye. We could not have asked for a more caring, professional, and humane experience during one of the most heartbreaking moments of our lives. I would give her 1000 stars if I could. I have never lost a pet before, and had no idea what to expect. I'm used to medical/veterinary staff being hurried and brusque, but Dr. Wensing was anything but. She's set the bar so stratospherically high here I don't think anyone will ever come close. She responded within a few minutes, was able to come out on a weekend, same day short notice, and offered multiple times to find what would work best. It was important to me that we were able to find a time where everyone could be present. My girls Kaylee and Gabby liked her immediately. She clearly has a gift with animals. She walked us through what the process would be like, answered all of our questions, and made us feel confident that we were doing what was best. She was gentle, calming, and patient, and made sure we knew what was happening every step of the way, giving us as much time as we needed when we needed it. When it was time for her to leave, she left us with the kindest words and warm hugs, as though she were a long-time friend. She clearly has a gift with people, too. On one of my worst days of my life, she brought such compassion, consideration, professionalism, care, warmth, and peace into my home that it seemed superhuman. I don't believe in angels, but if I did, she'd be one of them. Kaylee's sister Gabby is still with us, and I hope she still has a good number of years ahead, but Dr. Wensing will be the first person I call when the time comes. We had to say goodbye to our sweet senior kitty, who always hated going into the pet carrier, getting in a car or going to the vet, so we couldn't imagine making her do that at the end. Dr. Wensing was extremely responsive - we called her and got in touch with her quickly, and even confirmed details by text. Initially we planned to schedule an appointment for after the weekend, but it quickly became apparent that we needed Dr. Wensing to come the next-day, and she did. She was absolutely wonderful from the moment that we spoke to her on the phone, through the entire experience and afterwards. She is kind, gentle, and talks you through the entire process. She brought all of her supplies with her, even a box of tissues. We decided to do this in the bed because that's where our cat liked to lounge the most. The small space we were sitting in didn't matter, Dr. Wensing is fully focused on making sure your pet and you are as comfortable and comforted as possible. She did an examination first to confirm that euthanasia was the right thing to do. She tells you about the medication before she administers it, she tells you exactly what to expect in terms of how the pet may physically react, and she won't do anything until you're ready. Overall, she is kind, compassionate, gentle and so caring every step of the way. She also helps you with creating keepsakes - we got paw prints and a fur clipping in a small clear box. She even helped decide which spot of fur would be best that would capture all of her colors - a very small but impactful detail you don't even think about and can't even think about in the moment. She wrapped up our fur baby in the softest blankets and we got to walk out with her to her car where she had a very comfy and respectful setup in the backseat to transport our fur baby. You get to decide if you want your pet cremated - if so, she handles everything and it's very easy to pick up the ashes at the crematorium in Livermore (I think it takes a week or two). We can't recommend Dr. Vanessa Wensing and Heaven from Home enough. I only wish we had found her several years earlier when we had to say goodbye to our other senior kitty. Simple things Dr. Wensing did resonate to this day - she brought a box of tissues and made sure it was within my reach. I am so grateful that Dr. Wensing was able to come out and help transition my sweet Lucy across the rainbow bridge. My 15 year old girl had kidney disease and bladder cancer. Lucy , who is usually leery of new people , watched us while we sat on the floor as Dr. Wensing explained the process , which would start with an oral sedative to relax her. It has been four weeks since Dr. Wensing helped our beloved Boston Terrier, Petunia, cross the Rainbow Bridge (12/12/2023). Petunia's last year was difficult with seizures, Cushing's and mobility issues. We had been preparing ourselves for the end and found reviews for Dr. Wensing and Heaven from Home. We wanted to spare Petunia a final hated car ride to the veterinarian. We contacted Dr. Wensing before we needed her services, although that time came sooner than we expected once she stopped eating for a few days. One of the most painful decisions for pet parents is made bearable because of Dr. Wensing's knowledge and compassion. Dr. Wensing reassured us that it was time for our 15 year and 7 month old treasured BT to go. Once we made the appointment, Petunia seemed to thank us in her own way. In the week leading up to this day, Petunia had been anxiously pacing and not sleeping much. She had a good last day, including a small, aided walk on her street. She then slept the rest of the day and passed away peacefully with Dr. Wensing reassuring Petunia and us that it was okay to go. Petunia was in her own bed and covered with her favorite fluffy Llama blanket. Once we said our final goodbyes, Dr. Wensing removed Petunia very respectfully, wrapped like a baby. We will cherish Petunia's fur clippings and paw prints and also the lovely condolence card with a personal note. It's taken me a couple of weeks to be able to write this review, as we've been grieving the loss of our beloved dog of 13 years - Jazz. She had been ill for the last year, so I researched at home euthanasia several months earlier and came upon 'Heavan from Home' and made a note of it, because of the 4.9 rating and the positive reviews. Jazz had good days and bad days, so we carried on for four more months, however when she had a bad seizure in my arms, I immediately contacted Dr. Wensing. Luckily, she had an available appointment that afternoon. My husband rushed home from work and held her in one of her blankets on her favorite chair in the living room. Dr. Wensing talked us through the process, never rushing us. She asked if we wanted paw prints and some of her hair (of course, we did!). She lovingly applied a sedative and when we were sure Jazz was comfortable, she went peacefully to sleep. It's taken me a bit to get back around to writing this review, and even though I've waited 5 weeks or so, I am still sitting here bawling as I type. I dreaded putting my boy of 15 years down. Reeses was my shadow. My little velcro. We were attached at the hip. I have no children, and he was a son I never had. I loved this dog more than life, and being a chihuahua, I didn't want him shaking and scared in his last moments. I didn't want him to be stressed in a vets office. I owed it to him to make his transition over the rainbow bridge as peaceful and relaxed as I possibly could. Enter Dr. Vanessa. She is so kind, caring, and knows how to take care of business with kindness when it comes to making one of the hardest decisions of your life. She explained everything well and guided us through the process, and brought really good freeze dried treats to keep the pup happy. We fed him right up until he started to close his eyes and drift off from the initial sedative. I also made him a fillet steak as his going away treats, so he was well fed and Dr. Vanessa gave us all the time in the world we wanted to sit with him and make him happy in our final moments together. He even finally got to try some chocolate as one of his last treats. I am not sure I will ever do this any other way again if I have pets in the future. It was quick and compassionate. He basically never saw it coming because he had his face buried in steak and freeze dried treats. And he was able to be calm in his own space, on his blanket, with me, his velcro. Thank you, Dr. Vanessa for being able to provide this experience to him in his last minutes with us. I've put this review off for a few days now, with the hope Dr. Wensing would respond to my sincere inquiries. I'll try to make this brief... I was in let's say a "custody battle" over my 17.5 yo pup, with someone we'll refer to as "Person A - in CA." I live out of state. When the euthanasia appt was scheduled in November, 2023 I reached out to Dr. Wensing, explained who I was and expressed that I only wanted details of what was happening to my pup's body after death and to let me know once it was done ("Person A" was not communicating with me - she unfortunately suffers from untreated bipolar/personalty disorder). Dr. Wensing required that I sign her paperwork and said she would send me a lock of his hair. Then, "Person A" canceled that appt - needed more time. Fast forward to January, I find out from his Vet in CA, he was marked deceased in Dec. "Person A - CA" never told me (terrible) and I never heard from Dr. Wensing either. Okay - so here we are. No response from Dr. Wensing after several texts and voicemails. I just want closure. I can only hope no one ever experiences this lack of decency during such a hard time. I do know she is receiving my messages, as she has recently responded to an inquiry from someone else. Dr. Wensing's actions feel unethical. read more

It has taken me literally a whole year to write this review. Exactly a year ago, Dr. Wensing came to our apartment and helped our 13 year old maltipoo, Lulu, cross over the rainbow bridge. Lulu was suffering from multiple ailments and had doggy dementia. It was getting to the point she hardly wanted to eat and just spent most the time whimpering or sleeping. We were trying everything we could to comfort her but it was becoming increasingly obvious that she wasn't getting better... We adopted her as a senior and she was with us for a little under two years, I'm not sure at all what her life was like before she found us but she was found in a box in an overgrown backyard, (the home was apparently abandoned and whoever owned it left her and her puppies). Regardless of our short time together, I loved this dog SO much. Despite her misfortunes, she was the friendliest, goofiest, most loving little spunky 7 pound pup. She loved us and she loved her sister, Cleo, but most importantly, she loved her treats. She was that way up until the very end. Her decline was very painful to watch. After me and my S/O had a very long and gut wrenching talk, we decided to let her go was the kindest thing we could do. Dr. Wensing was absolutely wonderful to us. As you can imagine, I was a blubbering mess. My partner wasn't any better. She gave us all the time we needed, and offered words of comfort the entire process. We didn't feel rushed and we genuinely felt her empathy. After Lulu left us, she wrapped her in a cozy blanket, we walked with her one last time and Dr. Wensing placed her in the backseat of her car in a special doggy car seat with a sunflower blanket lined around it. It was cathartic seeing how beautiful and at peace our dog looked. Afterwards she hugged us both and assured us again that Lulu would be safely transported.
