Horrible experience. Owner came to my house. Looked at every thing and & quoted me custom garage door with new motors with 4-5 week lead time. I confirmed the order and paid 50% deposit. One week before installation date, he calls me & tells me he can't get that door anymore and convince me to buy another door, so I went with another door for which I waited another week. On day of installation he send whole crew to my house and tells me he needs to charge me extra for electrical work. When I told him I should not be responsible to pay additional charges for electrical work, he refused to talk to me and cancel the order immediately and ask his crew to go back. So now after 4-5 weeks of suffering with garage door not working , I need to find another garage door company. I would've given zero if that was an option. read more

Since using this company for garage door repairs I have also referred other family members and friends to Golden State Door. This San Bernardino franchise of Golden State Door provided wholly inadequate, unprofessional and unacceptable work when they installed our garage doors around 5 months ago. Last week was the final straw and when we called their office to complain, we were told that due to the pandemic . . . they could not help us until February 2021 - despite the fact that the door completely broke and could not open, leaving our car trapped in the garage! The person I talked to was incredibly rude and obviously did not want to back up their work, which was done shoddily. Note: This was not our first problem. One week after installation when the doors clearly did not meet the height requirements, we asked them to come and fix it . . . and never heard back. We unfortunately let it go because the owner of the company, Levi, seemed so nice. We should have known better. After basically hanging up with the rude, obnoxious and lying person at the San Bernardino branch of Golden State Door, we called a licensed garage door company inspect their work. The contractor immediately noticed that the work was done out of compliance on several issues. Not only had they violated SB969, the Dodd Automatic Garage Door Opener statute, but they violated the basics of garage door instillation, specifically the addition of a reinforcing strut on the top panel of our garage doors. After this inspection, I wrote a version of this review to the rude and incompetent people at Golden State Door, vowing that if the doors were not repaired at their expense and with compliance to California construction law I would, through my attorney, file a complaint with the CSLB and with the Better Business Bureau. I also said that we would expect a full refund of our expenses. As we expected, we did not hear from them. Yesterday, November 15th, I filed a complaint with the CSLB and Better Business Bureau and am now following up with this bad Yelp review - as I promised that I would. A couple years ago I called Golden State Door Company. I spoke with Ramiro, the owner of the company. I explained the problem I had with my garage doors (three car garage) and made an appointment for him to come out the next day. Ramiro is a real professional. He showed up right on time and was very courteous. He explained to me what was wrong with my openers and gave me options in what could be done as far as repairs that could be made. He also gave me the option to purchase new garage door openers since the ones I had were so old that they didn't even have the light beam sensors to keep the door from closing unexpectedly! Well with the new tech of today I knew my garage doors had to be replaced. Ramiro again gave me options of models to choose from. He explained to me the prices as well as going over the negatives and positives of each model. He is just hands down an honest and fair person. After I talked to him I agreed to what model openers to purchase. Just as he promised he came back right on time the next day and installed my two new openers in about one hour and fifteen minutes. As the years passed one of the springs broke and I made the mistake of not calling Golden State and called another garage repair company to put in a new spring. What a mistake that was! This other company did not adjust the springs properly on both springs and within months my garage doors were not working. One door was doing the "cha cha", going up and down and the other went up and didn't go down! Needless to say I called Golden State just this morning 05/11/2017 and Ramiro picked up and he remembered me. (that was nice) He told me that all I needed was a service and adjustment. Like clock work Ramiro was there on time just this afternoon. He adjusted the garage springs correctly, lubricated the entire roll up system, screw drive, as well as reprogramming both our remotes in less than 50 minutes. Kudos and thanks to Ramiro.
