I've got my nails done at this location a few times and have taken my daughters with me as well. We got our nails done a week ago on 10/8 and I got a gel French manicure. Two of the nails have already cracked and I will have to go back and see if they can be fixed. This happened the last time I got them done where the gel was not applied properly and began peeling up at the cuticle and edges within a week as well. I will allow them to fix this set but I'm not sure I'll be going back to get another in the future because in the past my gel manicures have typically lasted three weeks. My friend recommended Julia at Golden Nails to me so we made an appointment. I wanted something really fun on my nails to help put me in a good mood, so I searched Pinterest for designs. I found one and showed it to Julia. She was able to bust it out and it came out amazing! Ever since then, I continue to bring design ideas to her and she makes it happen. Lately, she's been practicing her own designs so we come up with totally original fun nails that I love! Also, at other nail salons, they always end up hurting my finger and Julia never has. She is so careful and precise. I love the way she makes my nails look. I get fiber glass and she shapes them and paints them so that they last long and don't look like they're obviously fake as they grow out. She is also very sweet and easy to understand. My toenails were in desperate need of TLC, so just looked up the nearest nail shop to me after running some errands. I called to make sure the place was not busy and the lady said they are not and I can do a walk in. I showed up in less than 5 min and the woman greeted me and told me to pick a nsil polish color and proceeded to fill my foot bath. Since I had gel nail polish on, I knew it was gonna be tough to get off but after some filing and placing acetone and wrapping with foil a couple times, it came off. The woman who did not introduce herself and did not talk to me at all besides "what color do you want?" Seemed irked and as if she was taking her anger out on my feet. It was a little bit of a painful experience, between the hard scrubbing of my feet, the painful slicing of my cuticle/hangnails, and super deep massage of my calves and extremely hot towel she used to wipe all the lotion off. I mean maybe some people like it but I am a baby and it is good to ask your customer's comfort level. I even mentioned the steamed towel being too hot, but she didnt do anything about it (she either ignored me or didnt understand). I just tried to sit thru the pain. Anyway, I survived and in the end I got what I came for a basic pedi and my toes and feet were renewed. It was $20... Not bad in price, but don't expect the fanciest place or chattiest group. First time and most likely will be my last time. Greeting service was great but overall service was not. I got there around 9:10 for dip manicure and gel pedi and was seen right away since store barely opened. Dip manicure was well done, no complaints but pedi... I'm afraid to even say I'm scared my feet might get infected.. first off, water was super hot, told the guy and he said ok but didn't do much to help so my feet was half way in the tub and half way out. In progress of removing the dead skin off my feet, he cut me. I knew he was getting close to the soft spot of the skin so I twitch my feet but he kept scraping the skin of my feet, so I told him I think you're cutting me. And there it was blood dripping down the side of my feet. I felt he was too distracted with the other customers conversation that his attention was not on where he was suppose to scrub so he was literally scraping off from the soft spot of my feet. For example I have had 3 people here and asked them all to not clip the side of my nail because I get ingrown nails which are pretty painful. However none of them have listened. I went to Golden Nails for a gel polish. I was pleased at the selection of gel colors they have (a lot!). The manicurist I've seen, Julia, is a sweet lady and a perfectionist. She gave me a manicure that included every little detail. I've been to Golden four times and although they're busy I've never had to wait (no appointment necessary). Golden is a bit pricey - $25 for a gel polish, plus I always tip. Overall, a very pleasant nail salon and one I will return to without hesitation. btw, just as an aside, I'm fairly shocked by the reviewers who comment negatively about the women in nail salons speaking their native language to each other. I am from San Jose, but needed a gel mani/pedi before heading to a job I had that night in Sacramento. I searched Yelp for a reasonably priced salon that was in proximity to the place I needed to be that night, and BAM - I found Golden Nails! I would have to say that the salon itself is very cramped, but at least that way, they can get more clients worked on if need be. The massage chairs are okay and a little worn, but they work just fine. The selection of nail colors is pretty limited and unorganized, but at least they keep the brands together - OPI, China Glaze, Essie etc. On the upside, the prices are very reasonable. I got a gel manicure (glitter coat, so she even had to do three coats before the top coat) and a pedicure (again, with glitter, so three coats before the top coat) for $46! They charge $1 extra for use of cards, so if you have it, bring cash. I used my card. I was really impressed by my technician. I should have asked for her name, but she gave me the CLEANEST manicure and pedicure I've ever had. She was really quick with cleaning my cuticles and never nicked me once. I could tell she was very thorough with that because she worked on a few places that were VERY minute misses after I had washed my hands and come back to her table. And her application of the polish was excellent - not an uneven surface or drop on my skin or cuticle. She even covered the outside edge of the nail - something I really appreciate. The only thing she did do that was a little annoying was she tried to upsell a 'special' pedicure to me. That was it though. Other than that, she was fantastic. Even the other ladies that were sitting beside me at the pedi station were telling me that this was the best place for your buck and that they're regulars. If I ever need nail work done in Sacramento, I'm coming here! Thanks Golden Nails :) Sidenote - parking might be a little difficult during the afternoon/early evening because it's in a teeny tiny shopping center by a residential area. It is a private lot for patrons though. Sidenote #2 - The type of gel they use is CND Shellac and the selection of colors isn't extensive. If you're partial to Gelish or another brand, sorry! I credit my husband with finding Golden Nails, he knows I like basic, spacious enough, and clean nail salons. And it has been my go to nail place for pedicures since I moved from the Bay Area. I don't get manicures but spent about 10 years committed to the acrylic god, back in the day before gel nails was the thang. So I can't comment on the nails here but each time I go for a pedi there are at least 2 nail stations occupied. The pedicures are why I come here. There is the basic pedicure and the "special" pedicure which is $25 which isn't bad at all. The basic is a soak, cleanup, file and polish. The special is a soak, cleanup, file etc. and then a sugar scrub and lotioning of your foot and entire calf. The special which I always get is great and they take extra care to do a massage of the foot, ankle and calf with lotion. I don't know what it is but those ladies know just the right spots to press their thumbs in, and not in a painful way. They massage the entire calf, ankle and foot and I can feel it relieve the pressure, sometimes it goes all the way up my back. My poor feet feel like they've been given a nap and are rejuvenated and rested once it's done, it's like I can feel the blood flowing again. Enjoying that relaxation while sitting in the spa chair with the message rolling up and and down my back. I have literally laid my head back and nodded gently off for a few mins. The polish job are always great and last forever! And I've never gotten an ingrown nail or a scary too short of a cut whenever they've trimmed a bit. One time my feet were in pretty bad shape on the bottoms with a painful callus, the sweet woman looked at me concerned that I had let me feet go so long with out love and attention! lol and so I was offered a lovely paraffin treatment, which I figured I would swing for and treat myself since it'd been a while since my last pedi. She dipped my feet and wrapped them up in plastic letting the warm wax soften my neglected flesh. Best part of all she didn't charge me any extra when I was rung up! So sweet and a sign that my feet were needin some extra love and care. Love this place it's clean, they are flexible with walk ins and do careful and super relaxing pedicures. read more

I got my nails done at golden nails and they turned out great I was really excited! They used the opi bonding base polish which usually makes your polish last a really long time but it didnt. We went here on a recommendation saying that they last 7days+ so well see if thats true. My nails started chipping in three days! When we went, my grandmother made an appointment for 11:15, we showed up early they didnt get ME in until 11:35 and she never got hers done as she had planned on it, she would have had to wait for the lady i had! Really, 2 stars. My beef? Well, I was getting a pedicure and the lady just sat there chatting with everyone and not doing anything to my feet. For looooong periods of time. I totally do not care if pedi-folks are chatting away while they are doing their job. Whatever, I'll read my magazine, for $25 I do not expect you to entertain me. Chat amongst yourselves. But most pedicurists I have been to can multitask. They talk WHILE they work. In this case, she just talked while I sat there thinking "If you aren't going to massage or scrub or paint or whatever, then lets move this thing along so I can get out of here". This pedicure took an hour, and easily 40 minutes of it was the pedicurist turning away and chatting with someone across the room. Sometimes she would rest her hands on my leg or foot, as though she were doing something, but often not even bother with that. This would go on 5-10 minutes, then she would half heartedly poke at my foot for afew seconds, and then another 5 minutes of her talking. It was crazy annoying. I just wanted to GO. The good....I had a sore toe, and when she got to that she paid attention and focused for a few minutes. Also, the polish (which i brought) looked nice when she was done. Wasn't just the one employee. During the 40 minutes I waited I saw that this was the norm at the business. I was in a bind and needed it done, and decided not to bail, but I doubt I will go back. read more
