Decent place for Chinese food. The lady (owner?) greeted us right as we walked in. She had a mask on so we couldn't see her face but she was super friendly. I think she cooked our food too as I didn't see anyone else in the kitchen area. The place doesn't have any atmosphere but there are 4-5 tables to dine in which we did. A TV was on showing an educational program reminiscent of Nat'l Geographic. It was not very appetizing to sit there and eat Chinese food while watching a tiger attack a gazelle, but I appreciate the effort they are giving. I would recommend this place and probably next time get take out. read more

this was the most awful place. they scammed us for over 200 dollars worth of food. we are unbelievably upset, we called multiple times for our delivery order and they ignored us every time. we eventually went to drive and pick up our order and they said they had never heard of us. do not go. they are the worst place ever. read more

I genuinely don't understand how a restaurant can operate like this and still have the audacity to answer the phone. Not only did they send the completely wrong order -- like, not-even-close wrong -- but when I called to calmly explain the mistake, I was met with pure hostility. The person on the phone was rude from the first sentence. No apology. No accountability. Just attitude. I was talked over, dismissed, and made to feel like I had committed a crime by expecting the food I actually paid for. But wait -- it gets worse. They also flat-out lied about how far away we were to justify charging a higher delivery fee. I know exactly how far my own address is. We are not in another dimension. Yet somehow, according to them, we were apparently located at the edge of civilization. The distance magically "increased" when it came time to calculate the delivery cost. Convenient. And then they charged an absolutely insane rate for the delivery fee. Not slightly high. Not mildly overpriced. Unhinged. The kind of number that makes you check your receipt three times to make sure it isn't a typo. For what? To deliver the wrong food and then be rude about it? So to recap: * Sent the wrong order. * Rude and dismissive on the phone. * Lied about distance to inflate the delivery fee. * Charged an outrageous delivery rate. * Offered zero solution. If chaos had a customer service department, this would be it. I have never experienced such a combination of incompetence and attitude in my life. Truly diabolical. Not even normal. read more

I am so thrilled to have come across this place! I've lived in the area for about a year and have struggled with finding my "go-to" Chinese spot (+ delivery). I decided to order from here tonight via online and was beyond impressed!! Everything was so fresh and amazing. Bonus points for having a "white meat" option when ordering the General Tsos Chicken (I'm very picky about my chicken). My new go to!! read more

Our 1st time visiting and Golden Kitchen did not disappoint! Our food came out fast, fresh and hot! The house lo mein was meaty and delicious! I wish it would have had more onions but other than that I thoroughly enjoyed! My son had the chicken wings and shrimp fried rice which he says was good but not enough shrimp in the rice. He said he only counted 7. My nephew had the sesame chicken and he enjoyed. I tasted both of their chicken and I found them to be pretty good as well. The place was clean and the service was very good! I recommend giving them a try and I plan to visit again when I'm in town! read more

I think the good reviews has generated a LOT more business because when we dropped in on a Friday they were hopping! Lots of food delivery drivers in/out too. A few tables in the dining room, nothing fancy. We were the only ones staying to eat, they do a big takeout business. The front person was very nice, but overwhelmed. Our food came out separately but worked for sharing. Our order: Fried dumplings, a good value! There were several, large dumplings for $7+ and they were delicious. Chicken Lo Mein, also excellent. But the best was Happy Family, hands down the best I can remember! Overall, no frills but really food! read more

Delicious ! As a local we've tried a dozen Chinese places in the area and none even come close. We've ordered every Sat for 4 wks in a row now l, maybe a little obsessed lol Chen is very friendly when taking your order and so polite when you pick up your order. The food taste great. Egg rolls, wontons really anything fried is super crispy and NOT greasy at all even traveling the 10-15min home. Moo shu pork is excellent the only negative is they use tortillas not the traditional pancakes but a lot of other Chinese places here do that. Still very good tho. And I'm a sucker for wonton soup and it's great not doughy like some places. Definitely give them a try you will not be disappointed. read more

Okay food but not outstanding! The food was typical Americanized Chinese food and the portion sizes were generous. Our order was; pork lo-mein was short on pork and very oily, schezuan shrimp was good with a decent number of shrimp, steamed dumplings were a bit chewey and bland tasting and the hot & sour soup was really very good. There are better options for take out nearby so we will likely go back to China Hau however if I was staying in Surfside and wanting Chinese food I would give it a try. read more

Three of us had lunch there in early January 2023. My chicken was breaded and covered in a sauce similar to that of my two companions. My chicken consisted of part white meat and part dark meat heavily rolled in batter and overcooked (often done to mask otherwise uneatable chicken parts). The sesame chicken was not good, lots of dark meat, chewy meat, hard crusty breading. The egg roll was mushy, the chips not so bad. Also, it took 15 minutes after the food was due for the credit card transaction to go through. So total time from order to getting my food was 45-50 minutes. read more

Fantastic restaurant! I ordered the sesame chicken and it came out hot and fast! Everyone wears masks, socially distances, and they will come out to your car if they're not busy. I'm quite surprised at the great reviews for this place. The family & I were excited to have some really good Chinese food while on vacation. It was mediocre at best. The shrimp with lobster sauce had 3 actual shrimp in it. The rest was artificial crab sticks cut up. Nothing was great. I looked on Yelp for the top ten Chinese restaurants and picked this one for takeout. I was so tired of other restaurants passing off big stalks of celery and big carrots as 'Chinese vegetables' and the way they can't seem to make anything actually spicy. Golden Kitchen was a real surprise -- yummy really spicy and actual Chinese vegetables. I got Kung Pao Chicken and the peanuts were so fresh and crunchy. My husband got Chicken in Garlic Sauce which was really spicy too. The chicken was tender and tasted like chicken. Eggrolls were tasty too. Overall it's not the cheapest but worth it. Sorry, if you really want good Chinese, keep looking--this isn't it. My family eats a lot of authentic Asian food and after all the great reviews we were excited to try. Turned out to be just another "any town in America" strip mall Chinese take out. I was excited to see chicken with bok choy as an entree. When I got home we found were just given chicken in the standard brown sauce with mixed vegetables--no bok choy! I could understand if they ran out, but they should've told us since it wasn't what we ordered. All in all we ordered close to $80 take out and I tried almost everything and NOTHING stood out, just edible. I realize expectations are very different but so far we have not found any good Chinese food in the area. read more

This is our daughter and her family's go to Chinese restaurant, and she's always telling us how good it is, so after a day of fishing on the pier at Myrtle Beach State Park, we stopped here to get supper on the way back to her place. Wife and I got Kung Pao chicken, one of my favorites with some egg drop soup and an extra egg roll. Generous portion sizes as my wife and I were able to make two meals off of this one order, so I don't understand the review that says this place has small portions. Food was hot and very good. My daughter is a frequent flier here and the owner knew her as soon as we walked in. The owner is very sweet and friendly. When she brought our food out, my daughter introduced us and she gave a us all a big hug and wished us a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. WOW! friendly service like that is hard to find any more in todays world and I will always give my business to a place that treats it's customers like family. From now on we will be going to Golden Kitchen at least once each time we come to the beach to visit our daughter. read more

My family and I love this place! Inside is quaint and has nice decor, and wonderful customer service. Everything that we have tried so far is soooo good! Great Chinese food and hospitality from a lost time! The owner is so courteous as is the staff. They automatically put hot tea and water on your table as well as fried noodles. The food we ordered was so delicious. I would recommend a daily special as it is a good bargain. I ordered salt and pepper shrimp and it was full of flavor and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. This place has the typical Chinese menu but the food is good. Portions are a bit on the smaller side, and prices are higher than other Chinese places in the area. Seating area is limited, so not really suitable for large groups. Parking is limited at this location. We have tried many different entrees and all have been good. The hot and sour soup is some of the best we have tried. We didn't like that the only way to have water with our meal was to buy bottled water. People are always friendly here, which is not the case at a lot of places these days. read more
